vmax
The Baltimore Ravens are in the Super Bowl. One of the reasons it's taking so long for this to "sink in" for me is due to how weak and inconsistent this team was for a majority of the season. The 3 game losing streat to Pittsburgh, Washington and Denver was the low point. In the game before that losing streak, the Ravens needed the miracle 4th and 29 play from Ray Rice to beat the Chargers. At that point you'd have to say they were the weakest 9-2 team that you ever saw. Then came the losing streak and all my experience as a Ravens fan told me that they would back into the playoffs and promptly get knocked out. Then can the Giants game...Caldwells 2nd as OC...33-14 win over a team that was fighting for it's playoff life. Suddenly this was a different Ravens team. The offense was lights out. The defense was terrific.I knew something had changed....I couldn't quite see that this was the beginning of an amazing turn around in the team.At this point I felt like felt like "Ok, maybe they won't be one and done but there's Houston, Denver and New England in the way."That's a tall order. One serious mountain to climb. And the climbed it! The Colts game told me this was no fluke turnaround and for some reason I felt confident going into Denver. I knew they wouldn't back down or fold against New England, but I thought it would take a ton of Ravens points to out duel the NFL's highest scoring offense...#3 all time.So the D shuts them out for the second half!13 points. I don't know squat.I'm just one happy, excited Ravens fan along for the ride. What I see is one big roster loaded with special players and they are going all out. They believe in each other and their mission.Just like the 2000 Team.
thundercleetz
I agree max I still cannot believe it. However I already getting that nervous feeling leading up to the game that I've had each of the last two weeks. Media week up to the big game will be fun but we HAVE TO WIN! We just have to! With everything this team has been through, and not only being Ray's last year, but possibly Ed's and Birk's too, a loss would be devastating. This is our year! Lets get it! oldno82
I know I'm still happily surprised. I don't have a clue as to what will happen in N.O. I almost don't care because they have been playing at a level I didn't think they could achieve. They've been so damned entertaining and enjoyable to watch. But, if they do beat SF, I'll be even more ecstatic than I am now!!!
cravnravn
It definitely has sunk in for me, probably since Im 12 years older than I was in 2001, how many more of these types of seasons will I witness? As Max pointed out the 3 games that stand out and the move that saved the season...The Skids game hit the worst, we took out RG-3, and then to let a no name come in and throw a TD, then salt the wound by running in a 2pt conversion UNTOUCHED was the bottom of the barrell. At first, I put the season woes squarely on Joe, then towards the late part went after Rice as to why he wasnt in there during key situations, then Harbs dropped the axe on Cam, I entered the next week thinking alright Joe this is your hall pass, make me love you again..And man o man did he produce..I just find it hard to understand that changing 1 spoke in the offensive wheel, has made a difference, Bryant McKinnie..Joe is not getting sacked, he has tons of time to look at other options, holes are there for Rice and Pierce, Oher back at RT where HE BELONGS... Utilizing Boldin to his strong points, this is unbelieveable stat, first 15 games Q had 976 yards and 4 Td's..Thats pathetic as he was our go to guy...3 playoff games, Q has 276 yards and 3 Td's!!!! what a turn around..Cam Cameron wasted Joe Flacco, he wasted Boldin, if we had Caldwell as OC for Joes career,we'd be a dynasty. Im fully expecting a victory sunday night, and expect a lot of call outs Monday am in the Baltimore area.
