Flacco has off day

11 out of 28 attemps for 115 yards and 2 INT's.

No TD's.

On the plus side...I bumped into a girl with a uni-brow penciled in on her forhead...it's a Flacco thing...could be the next rage.

I thought Joe needed to put this game on his sholders. The big play would deceide the game. He needed to make it because the running game was not happening vs the Stealers.

Joe had time to make it.

He just didn't.

He didn't have help, either.

Rookie QB, playing the Stealers, minus 1.5 of your two RBs, etc. I don't blame him. He didn't help, but the only throw that hurt was the poor interception (the one Townsend nearly picked when Mason was drilled was a bad throw, too), but he didn't make the inexcusable play that cost us the game.

I just can't really pin it on him. He made a lot of good throws that he got NO help with.

Exactly. Willis had some stone hands again today... and we had a lot of drops as a group.

I think we're one 6'2" WR away from being really competitive. That, and I'd like to see Clayton run some timing routes... with his speed, a quick pass could grab 5 - 10 yards, easy.

I agree, Flacco had some big passes dropped. McGahee dropped a pass that should have been a first down, Mason mistimed a jump on that deep ball, then Mason dropped another pass (granted he got drilled). Then McClain dropped that pass near the goaline where he could have gotten a first down which would have setup a first and goal. In these types of games, you need those catches.

This team desparately needs a receiver over 6' who can stretch the field and go up and get balls. This offense will not be able to florish without one. And that is not the fault of Cam Cameron, Joe Flacco, or anyone else. A lack of a playmaking receiver really limits what you can do on offense.

I think Joe could have played better but as said, he got no help. It was more then just Willis that let a few balls hit the ground.

The big thing that I still see from Joe is something I do not like at all, I even pointed it out back in camp, sailing long passes. They look like punts almost. The TD pass that should have been even with him sailing the long ball.

Flacco had a bad day. Actually that's two weeks in a row he hasn't looked very good.

From a coaching standpoint we looked as if we were playing not to lose, at least on offense, to the point where I was having flashbacks to the Billick run offenses.

Said the same thing during the game. When you play not to lose...you lose.

Cam needs to let Joe throw the ball against tough defenses. If he's going to hit the rookie wall, then let him hit it going 100MPH.

Amen Ballt.

This was Joe's worst game IMO but I will cut him some slack because this is his rookie year.

In the future, for this team to be legit contenders, Joe will have to elevate his game against the winning teams and better defenses of the league. He will have to make those 2-3 big plays on the rough days when the offense struggles.

I think he will get to that level.

I agree with everybody about needing the legit tall, big play receiver. Joe would be deadly with that.

All good posts. If you had told me at the beginning of the season, starting with a rookie QB, we'd be 9-5 at this point and in the playoff hunt, I would have called you "nuts". Sure, we failed to deliver a KO punch yesterday and the loss, like the Tennnesse game, will come back to haunt us when its comes to playoff considerations.

Flacco didnt deliver the goods yesterday but has had a helluva season, played with a great deal of poise, and is clearly the future leader of this O. As everyone has said, the guy just needs some tools. The big time possession guy - Anquan Boldin type - is certainly needed. A healthy running game w/o McGahee will help. I personally think a McClain and Rice backfield is the real future deal (perhaps w/ another power runner to replace McGahee).

Final thought -As I was watching Flacco walk off the field last night, he looked like a beaten warrior who had just lost a heavyweight fight in the final round. While the loss was very disappointing, I believe Joe grew up as a player and man, and the future of a Flacco led team looks very bright.

Personally, I think this loss will be great for our playoff lives. The pressure is on us now and we have notin to lose anymore. Flacco and the playcalling has been shitty at home all yr, so when we make playoffs we will be on the road, where flacco plays much better.

I smell a super bowl.
