Preston: It’s time for the Ravens and Lamar Jackson to part ways
tsylvester replied to vmax's topic in Baltimore Ravens
A fitting or is that fighting, name for the circumstances, War and what the two sides should be saying -
Man, I was stating this thread to discuss our back up qb Huntley, but now, Geno has blossomed, at least for a year he along with Carr, Marriotta,TanneyHill, Wentz, maybe even Ryan are or will be free agents, not too mention Baker. No trades needed.. If they trade Lamar, which one should they bring in, if any? We have seen what Huntley can & cannot do, even with a solid defense and running game. I don't even think Coach Monken can turn Huntely into something more than a back up. In fact, I might have to move on from him. Good team player, but we can find anyone for that role..

Did you know:This group had to negotiate with a local "deli" for their naming rights... I bet they were honest negotiations -

How does that saying go, there are lies then there are damn lies. Now that is quite disappointing, disingenuous, quite a play on words. But why could that be? My guess is #2, as in that poop that comes out after a spicy, greasy meal that not only melts your tush hole, but the wall paper off the walls and stinks so bad the EPA shows up to arrest you for serious air pollution violations. Yes, he, Lamar does not want to scare away any potential trade partners, so he had to stay here. Using the NFLPA, who has many goals, one of them is to get the most money for all of the players, to set precedent with contracts. Hey, I am all for equal pay, women's rights, fair hiring practices, but to use a player who clearly does not understand all that a contract like that will do to the game going forward is poor management. Good luck. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/02/26/recent-demaurice-smith-interview-made-it-clear-that-lamar-jackson-wants-a-fully-guaranteed-deal/ -

Yep, they can't trade him until the league year begins, March 15th, but they have to tag him or designate him for a tag to say it better, by March 7th. So at least we will know that much in a week or so... -

It kills me when media brings up the winning % when Lamar is on vs when he is off of the field. No duh, as if any team could win Huntley, consistently. What has been proven is that with competent qb play, this team is championship worthy. It has and can win without Lamar, especially with all of the cap room, and draft picks this team will have when they trade him. He has clearly shown that he struggles on cold & wet days. That he is inconsistent with outside the number passes & down field. Oh yes, he has also shown how immature he is, even at his age. Goom bye -

Yep, if the reports are true, it is very disingenuous of Lamar to raise his starting point in negotiations. Either that or he and his camp are complete idiots when it comes to negotiations. You don't establish a precedent for qb contracts like this. There is no way the Biscuit and the other owners want this type of contract garbage to be established. Players have contract insurance or should, for a reason. -
Wagner- Rams agree to part ways...

Well, Lamar reportedly went up on his offer, twice, both times wanting MORE than $250 Mil guaranteed, so the Ravens to Lamar, I hope -

I don't have IG nor the Twitter, but here are two songs for Lamar & the Ravens -
Willie Taggart hired or to be, as runningbacks coach... meh, seems he needs a change of scenery... Question, why wait on applying the tag on Lamar? Perhaps because they are close to a deal? Or Because as the old Hines 57 song goes, anticipation is making me wait, keeping me...... Make him sweat it out like waiting for those drops of ketchup to come streaming out after a few Pats on the bottom. Seems Lamar needs a few snacks as well.

Na, alter it perhaps, but his offense is qb friendly, rock & roll with some psycho-delic mixed in get down on it -

Max, based on his last IG post, I don't think Lamar wants to be here any longer, if that post is about the Ravens and not his love love life. Thus, no money is going to be enough. Today tag day starts, let the trade offers commence -
Oh I hear ya, some coaches are best as coordinators, like Rex Ryan (who is making the rounds again) and Kliff K, amongst others. Maybe Eric is as well?
-
True papa, but if you don't interview well, you likely don't getting hired in any job. He was offered advice to get help interviewing much like another coach a few years ago, as the reporter stated. That coach was not hired prior to getting the help, even though he was quite qualified, but the first coaching cycle after getting the help, he was... no name was given. So if Eric doesn't want help to learn how to interview, and interviews poorly especially with his background of flauting opposition to authority and rules, why should an owner take the chance just because Eric appears to be qualified? Don't get me wrong, plenty of terrible assistants went on to get head coaching jobs, with little to no resume, some bombed as expected, others went on to be pretty good coaches. Their interviews are what sold them to the owners. I once applied for a job I had no experience with, but because of the interview I did, they offered me the job on the spot. Likewise, I once was well qualified for a job, but went in to the interview too confident, didn't get the job...

From what I hear, he is "quite the odd ball" person, from someone who knows him well. He doesn't want to talk about why he has been turned down so much, at least not to the media, even to those in the media is trusts. The media is trying to make this about race, but as this person said, it is more about him and his personality.
-
Yeah, he carries something like 9 mil in a cap hit, too much for an older, slower, one down player. Great leader but best to head into coaching. I think he wouls be great at coaching
-
Good start for the team. Both are great team players, and have been dependable in rotations & on special teams. Worley has been improving very well in coverage, using his speed and instincts much better.

Look at San Fran, they have 3 qbs yet have none. They are in cap hell this year because of huge signings and have just over 8 mil to spend, this year. They need that just to sign draft picks, which they have less thanks to trading for McCafery. They still need to sign Bosa, having a big, key part of their defense, Ward, a safety to sign. Sure, next year cap wise the 54 mil dead money will be off of their books, but still.. The Rams are not much better, having sold their souls for a Super Bowl. San Fran tried that and went through 3 qbs before being eliminated. Neither team has picks to boost their depth, or to build their team cheaply. Tampa is even worse...cap wise and do not have a defense nor qb. Do we want to be them? Give up key players just to have an "mvp" qb? Can a team win it all with an average qb?
