  1. Max, the key states is third down, 3 of 11, 2 of 3 on 4th down. You can't win if you don't convert 3rd downs against good teams. That is play calls, play design.
  2. Ya know, in the backs of our minds, I think we all wondered how great this defense was, their turn around built against bad offenses. Well, that fleeting thought was destroyed after the past two weeks, especially after last night's game. What a performance but the defense, 17 pts, 7 of those on a short field. Against one of the best offenses in the league, again. The Ravens offense racked up over 300 yards of offense, but only 17 pts. Even after the gaff at the goal line, they had what, 11 mins to put more pts on the board?! Jk ran like a man possessed, on the ground and out of the back field on passes. I agree with him, they should have fed him more, especially at the goal line. That play was the pinnacle of this offensive play calling. I was shocked that this game was close, Huntley was Huntley, some great effort for someone so limited. That run was epic. If there was any, I mean any tear in this team over Lamar, their play put that to bed. Humphries tucked it in for a good night sleep saying how Lamar has been limping around the facility, how he hopes he signs the Ravens deal. What ever happens, this defense is great, the running game outstanding, it no matter who is at qb, the play calling has to change. Harbs saying the calls were right, that it was execution, is wrong. A good coach puts their players in a position to succeed. Knowing your players limitations. Roman failed in both. What a game, what a season, what a future this team has.
  3. Oh and Jones did what not even Lamar could do, throw for over 250 yards (301), 2 tds and run for 50 or more, 78 yards in a playoff game He also did this with scrubs for receivers. What did we learn from the games so fat this weekend? The right play designs and calls are more important than who is running the routes. That an accurate passer can make all the difference in a wide out getting yards after catch. That just because you have the 2 fastest men on the field does not mean 1) they will get open, 2) your qb can find them 3) you will win
  4. Man, two great games today, that doesn't bode well for tonight's game, so glad the Gmen won, all of those weapons the Vikes have, yet like the Chargers, in big games they always find ways to lose.
  5. I know we don't get the participation over here that we used to get. But I just browsed a few other message boards, wow, what junk. From the look, to number of duplicate threads, the infighting, wowza I don't miss that. On one board there are 16 different threads on Lamar, are you kidding me? I know he is a hot topic right now, but that many threads all saying the same thing? His contract demands, his injury, his talent level passing.... Some even talk about his off the field activities, rumors they are spouting as truth, as if they even remotely know the truth. Thanks Dee, for a great looking site, thank you to those who keep coming back to talk foootball, our Ravens, in an adult manner. Thanks Max for keeping us young. Now back to the game tonight, as I have an early morning, I will not be watching it all tonight, a full night sleep is more important and recording is so much easier in today's world...
  6. Phins have a make shift line that includes a practice squad guard and a rookie qb. 4 mins left they are down by 3, have put up 31 pts and their big 2 receivers have barely been a factor. Turnerovers have been the key. I've seen Waddle and Hill drop big passes, run routes on top of each other, cut routes off almost.leading to a pick. Yet people complain about our receivers. OH yes, and they have run out of timeouts because they can't get plays in on time. And been penalized for delay of game. 4th and less than 1, delay of game, they miss on the 4th and 6, turnover.on downs. With no timeouts, this game is over
  7. Woke up this am to the Jags winning, a massive comeback. How? The Chargers only attempted to run the ball 7 times in the 2nd half. That leaves a lot of time for a comeback. Chargers being Chargers, they always, always find ways to lose big games.
  8. Boy, Josh Allen's day has gotten very bad. Two picks in the last 2 mins of the first half leads to 11 pts for the Phins. A fumble on their first possession of the 2nd half was returned for a touchdown. Phins lead now, 24-20 after being down 17-0, will it last?
  9. What is the evaluation with Wallace? No way he is hurt this often.... If you play 2 qbs then you have none. Oh well.. night games, hate em
  10. So, other than Lamar, we will be at full strength for the game, especially on defense. So glad to have Peters back, though his subs did a fine job. Him at full strength, Williams, even Humphries who has had some nagging injuries. I can't remember the last game I wanted them to win as bad I really want them to win this one. I hope Roman has seam routes with Andrews and Likely on either side of their safeties written down for every pass play. The Bengals made it clear those routes will be wide open, as they press to stop the run & close out on those underneath routes. Are you listening Gregg Roman!
  11. Here is a very good break down on how to run routes. If you have time, on this cold, winter's day, read on, the full article is worth the read, complete with diagrams, maybe Roman will read it on the plane The New York Times: How NFL The New York Times: How NFL Receivers Run Their Routes, Step by Step. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/14/sports/football/nfl-receivers-routes.html
  12. I am so sick of hearing how bad the Ravens are without Lamar, seriously. None of them put the games into context. Last year, the Ravens set an NFL record for games missed due to injury, more than half the defense was out along with half the offensive line, not too mention the entire backfield. This year, who is their backup qb? A nice guy, but a terrible NFL quarterback. I would venture to say that yes Max, Taylor Hinkie on this team wins four of the six games Lamar missed this year. I will go a step further, I think with Hinkie, they just might beat the Bengals Sunday night. No, Hinkle is not a starter, he is the younger version of the beard from Harvard. Wow plays, but no-no... Without Lamar this team needs a good quarterback, not a Hall of Fame, not an mvp, sure it would be nice. But with this defense and running game, all mostly young players, yes this TEAM is not finished without Lamar, no matter what happens Sunday.
  13. I think Sammy is just being a good teammate. He is essentially saying that with Lamar, they can win it all. Sure he banters for a bit, but all in all I think people will read what they want to in his quotes.
  14. Oh boy, here we go... Sammy whatcha got to say? “In this league, everybody is pretty much banged up, hurt,” receiver Sammy Watkins told Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post on Wednesday. “I don’t want to speak for him and his situation and whatever he’s going through with the contracts. I don’t know what world he’s in. But for me, you got a chance to do something special. We all know with Lamar Jackson out there, this team is really freaking good, and special things can happen. He can will this team to a Super Bowl. I don’t think he’s thinking about it that way. . . .” That’s a very strong comment, one that questions Jackson’s overall commitment to winning playoff games right now, with his current teammates. “He’s got an opportunity to win a Super Bowl,” Watkins added. “I hope he hobbles back out there. . . . Put him out for the pass plays, and don’t run him at all. But you never know. That could be wrong. I’m being very selfish right now, just to want him to be out on the field. But, man, what a great thing it would be to see 8 touch the field this Sunday, and we go out there and blow them out. But that’s for Lamar and everybody else to figure out. Hope miraculously something happens, somebody reach out to him, whether it’s a coach or somebody, and he decides to play. But that’s a question if he’s healthy or he’s not. I don’t know. I haven’t been watching him.” Still, Watkins seems to believe that, if Jackson had his long-term contract, he’d be playing. “I think the world is ready to see Lamar back on the field, doing what he do best, and get all the stipulations and contract stuff behind him,” Watkins said. “I pray somebody talks to him like, ‘Man, just sign the deal.’ You know what I mean? And he get out there and hopefully, if . . . he’s healthy, he can just come play this Sunday. We all know that’s up to Lamar and whatever goes on. Hopefully, they get something done. The world wants to see Lamar be a Baltimore Raven for the rest of his life. . . . [T]he world wants to watch Lamar Jackson. That’s a phenom talent, a talent that you rarely come by. Things that he do on the field and things that you see, to be quite honest when he’s out there, he makes everybody play better, just to have him in that huddle. I pray that somebody reach out to him or that he’s really truly getting healthy and can play, that he wake up Thursday and be like, ‘All right, forget it. I’m playing.’ I think that would change the whole trajectory of our season.” Maybe Watkins is the only one on the team who thinks that. Or maybe he’s reflecting the mood of the locker room. Regardless, it’s probably a good idea for Watkins not to sit next to Jackson on the team plane to Cincinnati.... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/13/sammy-watkins-hopes-lamar-jackson-decides-to-play/
  15. I'll say what I said the last game; start Brown, better arm, maybe he learned something. Got nothing to lose, everything to gain
  16. Hey now, who said anything about sex? You might be reading too much into my quote
  17. I thought you might like that
  18. If he needs surgery, we become the Niners with Jimmy G, want to trade but cant...
  19. A perfect match, the mouth from NY, the wannabe mouth from Bmore... Who knows what happens, in the end we cheer for the Ravens, not only a player. It is a great organization, sure with some ugly pimples, but hey, Max had kids so everyone is attractive to someone
  20. It is very strange VA. His knee got worse? Did Not improve? Did he use crutches? A brace? I get the team keeping this hush hush, what I don't get is Lamar coming out an tweeting that he is out for the game, right after his head coach says he is still day to day?! And, detailing his injury. It seems he is speaking to someone or trying to convince possible suiters that he is not loafing, not quitting on his team. Still having swelling can be a sign that other ligaments are injured, we are 6 weeks out! Most if not all people who have this injury are ready to roll this far out. Not to say he is lying, we all heal differently. But coming out like this may be the nail in the coffin for his time here.
  21. Nicely done as my former coach used to say. Here is the contract break down NBC Sports: Inside the Roquan Smith deal. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/12/inside-the-roquan-smith-deal/
  22. Houston, we have a problem. Why release a statement like that now? If the sprain is that bad, why is he jumping around on the sidelines? Have we ever had a player upstage a team like this before? This close to a playoff game? Answers, we must have answers, we want them now, we want them honest! We will take no prisoners!
  23. A pcl tears the same way essentially. While Harbs did not rule Jackson out, this is very interesting. He ruled him self out on social media Quite odd
  24. Yes but a tackle like that is unlikely to create a tear in the pcl. That comes from being hit in the side of the knee while the foot is planted. I am sure they did contrast with the mri to make certain
