  1. Make that now 7 dead horses training for the Kentucky Derby...
  2. Cap hits aren't too bad for the first 3 years, $22,$33,43, then double dose of $74 mil, ouch. No trade nor tag clause means an extension in year 4 or 5, if he plays well, if not, major dead Cap charge.
  3. Interesting takes, 6,000 yards though? How about a balanced attack? 3,000 passing, 3,000 total team rushing? Better routes, not more passing, allowing for more first downs, backing the defense up so that running lanes are easier and, open. Not throwing 40+ times per game, but running 45 times, with 3 different backs, 30 passes that move chains, score from the Redzone, a place, hate to say it, even Gerogia struggled with at times, coach Monken.
  4. That one was from CBS, this one from NBC In early March, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson asked to be traded. In late March, he made it public. By late April, he had a deal in place with the Ravens. During Thursday’s press conference regarding the deal, Lamar was asked to address what changed between asking to be traded and signing a new deal. He declined to elaborate. “Today, we’re gonna keep it about the future,” Jackson said. “I’m not really worried about what happened in the past. I’m gonna keep it about these next five years. And keep it about what’s going on today. You know, it’s a great day.” It’s clear that he was simply trying, when he asked to be traded, to get the best possible contract from the Ravens or from another team. At the end of the day, he got the best deal he could get.
  5. Flanked by GM Eric DeCosta and head coach John Harbaugh, Lamar Jackson held his first press conference after signing a new $260 million, five-year deal that makes him the NFL's highest-paid quarterback. The mega extension includes no-tag and no-trade clauses and will pay Jackson a record $80 million in 2023, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones The press conference took on a celebratory vibe that was primarily focused on the future. On that note, Jackson opted not to discuss his recent trade request after Baltimore had placed the non-exclusive tag on him earlier this offseason. "I didn't really care for other teams," Jackson said. "I just really wanted to get something here. Other teams are cool, but I wanted to be a Raven. I said something in 2018 … I meant that. I wanted to get this done. … I really wanted to finish my career here and win a Super Bowl here." Jackson said that he liked the language that existed in the offer that he ultimately signed. Despite the issues coming to terms on a new deal, Jackson stressed that he never wanted to play anywhere else. He said that he also appreciated the continued support of Harbaugh and DeCosta throughout the process. "It means a lot," Jackson said," just to have guys, your head coach and your GM, wanting you to be here and believe you can help your team achieve the ultimate goal in football." Jackson also wants to set more records. Already the owner of the NFL's top rushing season for a quarterback, the former league MVP has his sights set on obliterating Peyton Manning's 10-year-old single-season passing mark. I'm very eager," Jackson said of the Ravens' upcoming season. "I think I told someone, I want to throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have. I'm not an individual, award type of guy. I just want to do that because no one's ever done that before, and we have the weapons to do that. ... Just can't wait to get rolling."
  6. In case you want to see it https://www.baltimoreravens.com
  7. Yep, it is shaping up well. Can they stay healthy? I would love to see then bring back Fuller, if he is healed. Great player & teamate.
  8. The only sport where contestants can die and no one bat an eye.. 3 horses died this week training for the Kentucky Derby More horses dies training at the Laurel Course here in MD. Of course and investigation found nothing wrong....
  9. As you called it, Rock is going to sign a 1 year deal here... worth up to 6 mil according to Shefty
  10. Good move, he will work hard, play hard to earn a big contract next year and get the team a comp pick. He is easily replaceable
  11. I'm stoked having Monken here, looking forward to seeing him take advantage of OBJ, Andrews, JK, etc. I don't know how the rookie Flowers will do, but as I said in the Flowers thread, Todd loves to exploit the slot position. I expect to see some real route combinations to open up the defense, get guys open, Todd specializes in that. Now which Lamar will we get? Will he trust the scheme, throw on time, see the openings? Will he dive into the playback, be at every practice not sit out sick with IBS because the Chinese food smelled so good?
  12. I agree, I was never in favor of trading for him, the cap between he, Lamar and Roquan would be eaten up..
  13. Oh I missed this one. Ravens trade a 6th next year for the Browns 7th round pick. They take Andrew Vorhees, offensive tackle/guard. He would have likely been a 2nd round pick this year but he tore his acl, won't be able to play at all this year. Yes, another chance taken on an injured player. He was very good before the injury, might be a solid right tackle/ guard in 2024.... This team needed quality over quantity, maybe they tried to trade up earlier for a wide out or corner and couldn't, who knows. But this injured played was worth the risk, he is quality, unlike the last few injured players they drafted
  14. Ohio defensive tackle Kaieem Caesar [Ohio Football] Oregon State offensive lineman Brandon Kipper [Wilson] Colorado State-Peublo defensive tackle Trey Botts [Wilson] ECU running back Keaton Mitchell [uStadium] Nebraska tight end Travis Vokolek [Lombardo] Maryland wide receiver Dontay Demus Jr. [Ghafir] Shepard tight end Brian Walker [Wilson] Vanderbilt cornerback Jeremy Lucien [Hallam] UTSA cornerback Corey Mayfield Jr [Pelissero] Southern Miss offensive tackle Tykeem Doss [Wilson] Delaware quarterback Nolan Henderson [Tessler, Agent] SMU offensive lineman Jaylon Thomas [Wolfe] Southern defensive end Camron Peterson
  15. May 2nd I believe
  16. Now it's time for the Ravens to shine as they always seem to do. Find the diamonds in the ruff, undrafted free agents
  17. I was shocked that they took him at all, let alone so early. I realize two of their qbs are injured and likely to miss parts of the season but they are both young and unproven. Why add another to the mix? As for the Ravens, 6th round, missed out on Perry, took offensive tackle, likely a guard Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, 6'6" 330, plays weaker than his size, terrible technique, likely destined for the practice squad... if he makes the team..
  18. And again they take a flyer, this time at corner, a.position of desperate need. They chose Kyu Blue Kelly, Chip's son, in thr 5th (AT Perry still on the board) Kelly is sound in technique, has decent speed, straight line, but it take a few yards before he hits top gear. Quite a handsy player which may get him in trouble in the NFL. He may take a few years to develop, if ever... a 5th round pick, so...
  19. Depth at defensive tackle/ end, it is with Tavius Robinson. He will need a full season of NFL strength training, but his quickness should help.
  20. Hmmff, Eric said the reason for the Simpson pick was bpa, because all of their top listed wide outs were taken... Well Eric, I will repeat what I said earlier. Since you as a team, have not ever drafted a wide out who turned out to be productive, why not throw caution to the wind and say," hey, we think so & so is going to be a bust nfl receiver, so let's take him".. What have you to lose? If he turns out to be a bust, you were right, if you were wrong and he turns out to be an all pro, (very likely) you look like a genius! Isn't that a better gamble than drafting another weak, speedy edge/inside backer who while a manimal, is weak at the point of attack, Likely to be a rotational player at best?
  21. I'm puzzled as to why Ringo is still there, yes he sometimes has lapses in coverage but his skill set and size, speed can't be coached, he can. Do what ever it takes to draft him. If they can't, get Rush, from S Carolina, he is raw but also has the skill set, size, quickness and make up speed this team needs. AT Perry is still there, adding another wide out could also be fruitful
  22. Oh boy, they stood pat, drafted Patrick Queen, er umm Trenton Simpson, same player, same type player, athletic, relied on his athletism in college, doesn't cover well, gets lost in zone coverage... Queen wasn't happy, "sheesh" he tweeted.. yeah, I agree Patrick, I agree
  23. As I said in the draft thread, I think they should try to trade up into the 2nd to get one of the top tier CBS left, Ringo, Porter, etc. Use Duv as bait if needed. This team need quality not quantity
  24. Because he was one of the terms of the hostage release
  25. I wonder does this mean the end of Duv, with cap savings, let Flowers return kicks? Does this end the Hopkins trade? Eric needs to be
