If you haven't seen it, the Ravens home page is making that claim about the Kc game. While it was a fabulous game, I must insist to disagree and remind them, you of an improbable come from behind win against the SeaHawks back in 2003. If memory serves me correctly they not only came back from a 19 pt deficit with 6 or 7 minutes left and won in over time. To add to that, Anthony always wrong Wright completed a pass on 4th and 29 to keep the hopes of a win in tact. More than half of the full stadium emptied out in the 4th q, I was there, I stayed. But by the 2 min warning, everyone was trying desperately to get back in. That place was rocking louder than I have ever heard even when full, even louder than the playoff game a few years earlier... Sorry Baltimore Ravens, that was the best home regular season win.

It struck.me today as some of the pundits were applauding Harbs for going for it on 4th & 1, specifically, given the defense has given up 68.pts so far this year; 2 games. What came rushing back were the memories of the 1999/2000 defense: 65 pts total for the season-TOTAL Oh my how great would it be to have that defense again, but no one can, no one has. The defense will get better, a lot of young players throughout, they will learn. As the running game gets used more and improves-consistency-, the defense will get more rest, be stronger later in games, in theory. Also, they won't be facing the passing attack of Mahomes every week over the next 15 games. Thus, with more experince, with health, with lesser passing attacts, the numbers should get better.

One thing, one play gives me a little hope. Not sure if you noticed, but Ellis ran down Kelce on that touchdown catch & run. Sure, he tackled him in the endzone, but he ran some 35 yards; that is effort. The kind of effort that sparks other teammates, they will notice and copy it.. I am sure they will point it out on game film, the meeting room will be filled with shouts; a 300+ pound man runnimg down a fast tightend that far. Maybe that was the spark the defensive line needs?

I originally had this as an easy win, but then, I had KC as an easy loss. Add to that all of the injuries, the two hard fought, prime time games and the euphoria from beating the Cheifs in that manner and needless to say, I'm a bit concerned. Goff is a quarterback who can make every throw, not with the zip of some of the top qbs but still. His biggest draw back is being fooled by coverage and not having a clean pocket. Hit him often, disguise covages well with multiple looks and a defense will feast. Their defense as you will see tonight can be run on, can be taken advantage of. They give up more yards per play than any other team, why? To prevent the big play, make a team dink & dunk down the field hoping you make the mistake before they do, but they don't have the discipline to stay focussed. So they only real question is; do the Ravens live in the past glory of beating KC, having two prime time games already, or do they use that confidence to build?

As I said before, physical freak, but consistency is key and he needs to get stronger. Yes he made a couple of plays in each of the first two games. But to be honest, both teams struggled with new lines and he struggled against bigger stronger linemen. He lost focus at times holding the edge, keeping to lane assignments. However, he will get NFL strong with time and I expect him to be a very good edge player. I wish Wink would stop trying to teach him to cover and just let concentrate on rushing.

The pass defense is only going to get better by getting healthy & or with a consistant 4 man pass rush. Both qbs had all day to throw, to move around in the pocket because of either a lack of pass rush or those rushing were not disciplined to their lane assignments. As was pointed out, Mahomes will make any pass defense look weak, but Carr is only as good as he has time, he gets rattled when hit often; which never happened. Both middle backers were known for not being able to cover, not in man, bad drops & awareness in zone. That was exposed by more talented passing attacks. Now, can they, mlbs, improve? I hope so, but think not. The Lions have a qb who excels when given time but can be confused by coverage and rattled.

Yeah, wonder what it will look like after the 17th game....

Another foolish decision by Lamar, get hurt, mmmm

Win a playoff game or two, make that game changing throw, don't make that stupid int or fumble that costs the team. That stupid stiff arm/push on the sidelines, these and many more are poor decisions he makes every game, especially in the playoffs. Yes, doubt Lamar, because he makes the same mistakes over and over
-
Yeah I'm not a fan of chasing points, get the high from scoring a touchdown only to lose a bit of it from failing the conversion. Kick the extra point be happy.
-
You have to pay him, sure, his running won't last forever, maybe by the time it does stop he will learn to make all of the throws like all of the other quarterbacks do each week. Till then, he helps the running game, we win more than we lose, there will always be a chance to win a super bowl. He is not worth Mahomes money, so hopefully he is reasonable.

Neither team does, they are both undisciplined teams, did you see all of those penalties! All of them really ruined what was a great game.

Wow, what a game to wake up to this am! The defense shuts down the best offense in the NFL, in the 4th quarter! The offense scores 12 in the 4th to win! 200 yards rushing, the backs looked great, even with a luck bounce at the goal line to start the game. Sweet! I'm still not sure why Lamar threw that 2nd int, bracket coverage, not one but both safeties at the goal line, someone else had to be open but he just locked on Brown... Nonetheless, he came through, they came through and hey, we might have found an offensive line

Same old Chargers, change the coach, change the quarterback, even change cities, they always find ways to shoot them selves in the foot and lose games. Dallas at least has an excuse, they were down numerous defensive players due to injury/covid..
-
He is in Harbs' dog house, right?! Must be the answer, he has looked best at center every chance he gets...
-
One two three throw... One two three throw...one two three throw.. Lamar needs to say this over and over and do it. Make his presnap read, it is pretty easy, teams are playing zone against him most of the time. Thus he knows his receivers routes, I hope, so one two three throw. On target or out of bounds.

Freeman will save the day! 250 yards ruahing, 65 receiving, 3 tds... Bell must really be bad if he can't crack this offense

Ill be sound asleep for this one. Ill watch the carnage in the morning....

Im sure Bell will be moved up now that his contract won't be guaranteed. Not sure why they are working out dbs unless Smith is going to be out longer

Im watching the over time fumble play now. 3rd and seven, trips to the left, single to the short side. Lamar gets the snap, if he throws it on time he has Proche on a short curl, 2 yards away from the line to gain. Andrews is doing a seam route, Brown a crossing route. These two make a simple, legal screen in front of the 3 defenders to that side. Easy pitch & catch, fight for a first down; simple, catch the snap, hitch & throw. I don't know why he chose to pull the ball down, attempt to run; he had plenty of time to make that throw. Would it have been a first down? Who knows, but it would not have been a fumble on your own 30 yard line. This I say to his decision making, I know, first game of the season, but they said, he said, he has improved greatly. This is the same mistake, just like the fumble, he makes every game; trying to make more out of something. I know, it is part of what makes him an exciting player. But we blame, and rightfully so, the wide outs for not getting open. We blame the line, we blame the play calling/design, all, rightfully so, but he shares blame as well.
-
The first lost fumble was one thing, but the second, in overtime? If you learn from your mistakes you learn them from play to play, quarter to quarter. No excuse for the 2nd lost fumble, that is a clear sign of not learning.
-
Why bring Joe into this? I was right about the 3 fumbles, about the running amount for the runningbacks, about Mosely getring his tackles late, because he got caught in the wash,. Missed assignments that lead to big runs at key times for the Raiders. Wanna talk about that instead of a qb no longer on this team, barely in the league?

Maybe, maybe everyone believing their own hype, ready to stand and boast of a great play they made instead of seeing what was right in front of them, not seeing the ball. I am sick of seeing a quarterback heave a prayer ball up deep down field only to have the defensive backs not find the ball, instead, the receiver turn to make the game changing/winning reception. Tired of seeing the Ravens defense blitz all out play after play and get burned. What's that they say about doing the same thing, failing and expecting a different outcome? Tired of the receivers, no matter who they are, running routes too slow, too fast, not deep enough. Quartebacks thinking something is there, rather than knowing what is open. Tired of the same in game coaching mistakes. In other words, just tired after a loss that should have been a win, and the next win will cure all, right?
