  1. Jimmy Penalty Smith, it was only a matter of time before he interfered with some one again....... Photo shoot, coke, girl throwing up in a bar bathroom = to me, he wanted to get rid of the coke...
  2. He is now ready to re-do his contract if it helps in trade talks.... Four teams interested, did not hear who they are.....
  3. backing an offense up 15 yards is just like putting a defense 25 yards further down field. It is much harder to move the ball when you have 1st & now 25, or 2nd & 25. Contrary to what it may appear, what many "pundits" will say, it is easier to stop an offens than it is to score; sounds crazy I know, just as crazy as a spot foul for offensive pi.
  4. I guess we will have to agree to disagree... He is often late or wrong with calls, for some one who is also doing radio, he rarely describes the play properly. If I am not home, I don't listen to the game, he is that bad, to me at least. Since he still has a job, I guess I am in the minority....
  5. Crav, homer aside, Smith is a difficult one to put a fee too, simply because he is inconsitant. He struggles to get off of press, is around 30% in contested catches, and still has yet to learn how to run a proper route, how to sell the double move. With that said, he has shown flashes with some great catches, adjusting to the ball on medium throws, but still struggles to make the deep catch that is slightly off target; he flails, loses speed trying to locate the ball. Sure, $3-$5 is fair if he corrects some of those issues, but does he think he deserves more if he does correct them? I would like to keep him too, but unless he fixes those issues, you can find similar talent, even if you can't coach speed.
  6. No, he was worth the risk of keeping around. He was doing all the right things when he came back, going to meetings etc, and you saw the results, lead the league even after missing those games and, on the Browns, with no real quarterback....... Sadly, looks like his career might be over, with this DUI, if it sticks, he may bet suspended for the season.
  7. Thompon's biggest isue has been consistancy. With that said, I am looking forward to see him this year, with another year under his belt and in the new system that fits him well. Butler is a good fits as well, however, the reason he didn't get drafted is because of his inability to get off of press coverage, more so than his speed or quickness.
  8. don't look now, but he was busted, reportedly, for DUI now............. kid is a mess...
  9. I know Papa very well, from long ago message boards, a few pre game parties, He speaks his mind, but he is a Ravens fan and an over all good egg.
  10. His former quarterback at the community college- http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/04/23/duron-carter-nfl-draft/2107981/ I love Cris Carter, great player, turned his life around and while parents can only do so much, I am surprised his son has a work ethic issue, or had one, maybe he as grown up. Rest assured, he will have many teams looking at his son, and his son will go with the highest bidder, I am sure, the CFL doesn't pay that well....
  11. It is difficult to judge the Northern receivers, wider fields, more pass happy, blocking is almost option from that position. With his size, a punt returner is unlikely, what is his speed like? How is he on contested catches? Can he play in a traditional NFL offense?
  12. He loves playing here, loves the area, has many, may ties here now. Don't write him off just yet, not every player is after the most money they can get, many take into account where the team plays- see Derrick Mason who turned down quite a bit more money from the Pats to play here because his family did not like the NE area.
  13. Anderson was far more than a caretaker, look up his stats. They rank pretty high among those in the Hall... He should have been in long ago. Young in TB was undisciplined, his words, he needed the time spent on the bench behind Montanna, again, his words. The knock on him once he took over was that he could not win in the post season, until he finally did it, and as the video from that Super Bowl win shows, he got the monkey off of his back.
  14. Ken Anderson. So what is your excuse for Steve Young? You do know that more goes into a quarterback's mistake than just him making a bad throw or even a poor decision, right? You can't get to the playoffs nor a Super Bowl with crappy play from the quarterback or a very, very good defense & special teams. Neither of which Anderson nor Marino had, neither did Young more of his career. The defense for GB and even Min with Favre were average at best. Over rated my butt. Over rated is Joe Namath, him being in the Hall pretty much negates the Hall....
  15. I guess Kelly, Marino, Anderson, even Favre are in the same boat; great regular season players..... Anderson deserves to be in the Hall more than Bradshaw, look at the numbers.....
  16. My biggest take away is hearing that most of the players came into these camps, in or near to, in shape. Past years players would use camp to get in shape. Seems, they are taking their careers more seriously, a good thing for the team.
  17. Not to worry, he is busting off the rust and Elvis has something to prove as well after a dismal year last season.
  18. I'm not thrilled with Monroe, let alone Wagner. I hope I am proven waaaaay wrong on both.
  19. The knee just hasnt responed well to treatment. I am sure they will stay in contact with him to see if it get any stronger; they really liked his potential. With the youth on the wr side, they might need him later.
  20. A better question. How many quarterbacks, starting, have been to mulitple super bowls, yet never won an MVP?
  21. Joe's completion % would be up if he had receivers who could get both seperation and have a bigger catch radius. It is difficult to cplete 65% of passes when every throw has to be dropped in the eye of a needle or thrown away because no one is open in time. Completion % is a bit of a hiccup, can be very decieving and relies, largely on a decent offense line and good receivers. As fans, most times we do not know why a qb only completed 50% of his passes unless we 1) see the game and 2) truly see the game, the timing of when the qb has time and a recever is open. They don't subtract for throw aways or dropped passes.
  22. If he can stay healthy, he will be a great tackle for years. Smart, athletic, good feet & hands, a bit of a mean streak as well....
  23. one player who really could use Ed Reed on the team. He was out of position so often last year, I thought he was playing middle linebacker.........
  24. hmm, I agree with Tc, loved the guys play, but once that retirement thought hits the brain, when camp rolls around, when temps get in the 90's, let us see if he still has the fire. Not exactly what I wanted to read from him.
