  1. Sure, they, all teams, have average players. However, they obviously felt during the draft, that other players were a better fit for a variety of reasons. Did some teams not want him because he is gay? Who are we to say yes or no, we cannot know the mind nor heart of some one. He did not magically become horrid, he made his name in college, ONE YEAR, in a few games against poor teams. Look at his game stats, you will see this to be true. Most people will look at Suggs's stats for last year and think he had a good year. Yet anyone who watched the games knows, he only truly had a few good games and then was non-existant in most of the others for a variety of reasons. I can show you a number of examples of "great" college players who turned out to be turds in the NFL, one of them a two time heisman winner, we can start with him, Archie Griffith. Another, a monster in the middle of a defense, won every award for defense allowed, Brian Bosworth. Those are just two examples and neither is gay, neither is a quarterback, which has long list of great college careers, only to be duds in the NFL.
  2. What facts? I gave you facts, not some stats any one can use to make any, any point. There are some things that can be coached, other thins can not. Just as in college, when he went up against good talent, he did nothing. Only when he faced below average talent, did he get his numbers. So just why would a team chose to take a one dimensional player and put him on their practice squad when they already have at least one of the same type player? Oh, just because he is gay, right? Just to "prove" what? That his sexuality doesn't matter? If they want to be treated as everyone else, how does giving them specal treatment make them the same? 31 teams saw exactly what I said about him, the Rams thought they could get more out of him by taking him in the 7th. Obviously they realized through months of training ith him, tha what you saw is what you get; an average at best player with little to no upside.
  3. No, it would be a terrible move for Smith to challenge the suspensions. If they can retro the new policy for drugs, there-by getting the suspensions lowered, guess what? The NFL can step up and retro the new Domestic Violence policy, there-by enacting the new suspension rules for first time offenders, meaning, Rice would be out 6 games...... Can't have your cake & eat it too...... But I do like the changes, although I do not agree that off season PED use is not of benefit to the athlet. Jeepers, that is when the PEd use is of most affective for them to build mass..... Quite the slippery slope... And Gordon, as we have discussed, was not suspended just for his test result, but for his choices of being around pot heads using in his presence and his inability to see how wrong of a choice that was/is.....
  4. Just what makes you think the team did not explore every avenue? as Grubber said -- http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-sign-josh-bynes-to-practice-squad-cut-aj-pataialii-20140904,0,2628491.story?track=rss
  5. He had me on his side up until he said: "some one might have slipped something in my drink." when ever I hear that I hav to laugh a little. How does one leave their drink alone now adays, let a lone some one with so much to lose....... I'm not buying it......
  6. Eh,a good trade off for him, Rob is one of the better defensive coaches both in game planning and training young players. So he gets great, paid training and only has to feed Jerry's pockets with shirt sales. All those smart people who ran out to get a Sams Rams jerseys now will run out to get Cowboy ones.... Brilliant at what, $75-$150 per.......
  7. This is likely one of those: "we are releasing you for a few weeks, go on vaccation and leave your phone at home:, type moves. They will have to release a player when Rice gets back and then again when the suspension is up for the safety, and maybe again if Cody comes back..... This was they do not have to guarantee his contract for the year.
  8. Josh Brent got 10 games, granted, some one died when he crashed, but owners, according to the league, are held to higher standards.... meh
  9. For amphetamines,,,,,,, FYI fantasy owners.....
  10. I hope it works out for him. The Boys are one of the few teams that run a 4-3 and are in serious need of depth. If he can't make it there, he can't make it anywhere. People are up in arms over the fact he has not been signed yet, blaming it on his sexual orientation, yet they fail to see that only 15 or so teams run a 4-3, only a hndful of those have a need for a defensive end, and he is only a fit for that type of defense.
  11. I'll take the Bengals, give the points for 50 large, Marv. This may be close for 10 minutes, but not for long.... Dalton is an excellant regular seson quarterback and they are very healthy on offense.
  12. Leave it to crav, Goody went easy on him.......... why am I not shocked........... yet they claim this ws the max they could give him.......
  13. I think a year it almost has to be, he is an owner and is expected to set a higher standard. If the NBA had something like this, Sterling would have been out along time ago for real issues, not words.......
  14. Were they? Wow, another milestone crossed off. I know that team also did something no other team had done. Gone to and won a Super Bowl when its starters missed a combined 56 or more due to injury. If memory serves, their starters missed close to 70 combined.
  15. Just food for thought. No team in NFl history, has won the Super Bowl with a top 10 offense & top 10 defense. At least that was correct the last time I checked a few years ago.....
  16. Agreed! The offensive line is unproven and lacks depth. This affects both the running & passing game. The linebacking core is young, not strong at the point of attack, prone to freelancing = big plays in the running game. The secondary is the biggest question mark and not just the play of the corners. The safeties are unproven, young, and both like to break coverage, are easily fooled by the quarterback & route combinations. = big pass plays, lots of points. Frankly, I will just sit back and enjoy the season, good or bad, just as I did two years ago when they surprised the daylights out of me by winning it all....
  17. True my friend and yes, I knew what you meant and agree, not good when your players are involved, that is a lot of time spent being deposed, away from football for several. I think the niners are going to be looking up this year.....
  18. Max, they signed a player they new would be suspended for 6 games with a "problem", another who is on his 3rd team in a year. Yep, I would say they are desperate.
  19. Keep in mind Dc, most states now have an arrest first policy when an accusation of domestic violence against a woman is brought to their attention. Even when the woman changes her mind on the scene. So this could be more of nothing, not saying it is, but could be.... So if the prosecutors decide to go through with this, what is Ray suppose to do if he truly is innocent? Plead it out, let it drag out, call on his constutional rights to a fair & SPEEDY trial?
  20. Where did I see it? Come on Papa, you know how they think, they have been talking about this for years. We will have to agree to disagree on this, if they sign him, great, if not, even better as i won't have to dodge news crews on my trek's around here....
  21. He is not worth the spot for the Ravens on the ps. They prefer multitalented players who can play special teams, or have a unique skill set. Neither of which, no matter how much coaching, will Sams have. One can only increase speed so much, he has short arms, is not athletic to being able to cover is out, and again, they have a guy on the ps just like him, with a little more skill, albeit not much more, in tackling in open space.
  22. From NFL dot com... The dredded P word, very raw....
  23. They could not keep Holmes, the salary cap would not allow it. They didn't tag him out of respet for him. As I recall, they ran the ball pretty well, the reason they didn't repeat was because of the pouting done by the players over the Dilfer release and a piss poor offensive line/
  24. Yes since Simon, as I said, is the same player basically, who is already on their practice squad. So why sign another player to the ps, with the same skill set, but a boat load of baggage that comes with him, not his fault, obviously.
