Let us see, tall, 6-1, fast, 4.39 but can't cover the grille before it rains even with a week's notice. I suppose they only have a roster spot to lose with this deal, but if he could not make it in Mini, nor in SD with that HUGE contract, not sure he can make it anywhere.....

Josh Gordon appeal denied, suspended one season
tsylvester replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Cleveland Browns
He should get two now that his remarks came out. He is disappointed in the NFl for not "exercising better discretion & judgement"? Is he for real? Get help son, seriously.... -
Who said they said they would strike? I was making a statement. Since- --- Won't be to strike, just to force the owners into a lock out situation, nice, real nice. without a CBA there can be no games, no practice etc. To say he is going to challenge the CBA based on the collusion rule? PA Lease he is already starting things out on the antagonistic foot. So I suppose I should make it a little more clear, not that it matters to the NFL or NFLPA, if there is another work stoppage, I will quit watching football... The players got everything they wanted as did the owners in the last CBA, less practices, less contact in practice, and we see the outcome so far, poor play on the field.

Smart guy? If he were to get his way, he ill ruin football. If they strike again, I will be done with football.

This is the part I love, disecting plays, thanks for joining in. On the Pierce play. It was more a case of the play call vs the defense call. That one was a win for the Skins defense. Pierce did what he was suppose to do, read the defensive tackle, if he gets to the inside of the offensive tackle, bounce it outside because either the tight end or the full back will pick up the scraping linebacker. However, the skins defense played right into that play call. The defensive tackle slanted inside, designed to bait the back into bouncing out. This was a set up play for the weak side backer, because on the snap, rather than scraping, he is to fly to the outside and make the tackle. Even in this case, the offensive line was stymied at the line of scrimmage, got no push at all. Also, the full back failed to make the proper read (the tackle slanting), he should have bounced outside as well and picked up the linebacker. The other plays, I agree, it should have been measured and I think that was why Harbs was so mad, he expected a measurement and never go one... By rule, they are suppose to measure both in these situations and when asked by the coach. Even so, he line rarely made room, rarely move the line of scrimmage, they were bull rushed all day by the front of the Skins, man to man. As I said, I hope it was just one of those games/ half, and not a continuation of last year. It really wasn't scheme it was a case of beibeingut physical"ed".

Hey, it's still the off seaon. I heard a prognosticator pontificate that a 7th round draft pick would not be cut because his team drafted him. Peoplejust love to talk, even when there is nothing to say......

DEONTE THOMPSON HAS MADE HIS CASE ..........
tsylvester replied to rastaman831226's topic in Baltimore Ravens
My guess, he is most definitely headed to the practice squad or will get the much loved/maligned mysterious injury IR.... This from Hensley when asked about the wr position. Just as I suspected though, things can/will change... jamisonhensley: Heading into the third preseason game, I have Kamar Aiken and Michael Campanaro getting the final two spots at wide receiver. Campanaro is really battling against himself. If he proves he can stay healthy, the rookie seventh-round pick makes the team. Aiken currently has the edge over Deonte Thompson and Jeremy Butler. As far as cornerback, the Ravens are going to sit tight for now. Injured cornerbacks Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb and Asa Jackson should be ready for the season opener, according to the Ravens. They will look at cornerbacks who are released in the final major cutdown, which happens next Saturday -
Yes, but what was the score at half? Also, even when Rice returns, it will be running back by committee and with a bruiser back on 3rd & less than one, they still could not convert. No way Rice makes those conversions.

DEONTE THOMPSON HAS MADE HIS CASE ..........
tsylvester replied to rastaman831226's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Reading into the way Aaron listed the wide outs, perhaps in no particular order, but maybe in the proper order- Steve Smith, Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones, Marlon Brown, Michael Campanaro, Deonte Thompson and Kamar Aiken. Read more: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-cut-linebacker-austin-spitler-source-says-20140825,0,3914695.story#ixzz3BQzrLzCi Frankly, I would take Aiken over both Thompson and Camp, but then, I just sit in my recliner, not behind a desk a few miles away at the Palace. -
DEONTE THOMPSON HAS MADE HIS CASE ..........
tsylvester replied to rastaman831226's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Any up side that you have seen..... BJ Sams, back a few years, got very little playing time during the pre season, most fans who never went to camp were certain he was going to be cut and likely be a practice squad candidate. However, in practice he showed great promise as a returner, they just wanted to keep him quiet for the rest of the league, using an "aanklesprain" as a reason for him not playing. Is that the case here with Campanero? Maybe, maybe not. Frankly I hope not, he doesn't have that great quickness, the jitters as it were, for them to use him in the slot. I agree, this move to trade picks for him has to be Biscutts call, home town guy & all. As for Thompson, as I have said on the other thread, the one about receivers, he can only run one route, after now three years in, a 9 or go route; any other route and he is slow, obvious what he is doing. His hands, in practice, are very questionable and his lack of fighting for the ball, going up for contested passes also leaves on questioning his true ability. His return skills are fine, but the team has a few returners on the roster and they have 3 deep threats, two for certain who can also play from the slot. So what exactly is Thompson adding that is not redundant? Past years sure, you keep him, they had the depth at other positions, this year, not so much and you factor in the injury history of some of the starters, and we see the team will need to keep more at other positions leaving wide out as four, maybe 5, maybe. -
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/rams/2014/08/24/sam-bradford-acl-injury-st-louis-rams/14533013/ Poor guy, such talent, but if you can't stay on the field, sit back and enjoy your millions....

Let us hope it was a blip and not the norm, again. The 3rd game is usually when players are at their best, defensive lines especially. It was not just a stacked box or blitzes, the line got man handled last night, Flacco rarely, if ever, could step into a throw, never ha d aclean pocket. Why? The book ends, both getting bull rushed right back into him along with the rush up the middle. I watched the golden child left tackle hand off a bull rusher to the guard who was also trying to pick up a blitz up the gut, nice job Monroe..... He still can't handle strong defenders.... Go to the run game, what run game? Was it an off night or was it that the Ravens offensive line was slightly ahead of other teams, until last night, meaning this could be the norm, once again... Time will tell, it was only one half of a preseason game, so patience I suppose, but I am still not sold.
-
Yes, I still think so. Go look at my post about the roster a page or two back, what positions they normally keep, numbers wise. Given the lack of depth in the secondary and the strong play from the entire defensive line crew, where they need depth to keepthat four man pressure up game out, plus the lack of depth at offensive line, I just do not see room for five or more receivers. He could be a late cut and we will call you back after the season starts type move. But not getting any reps with the one's, playing late into the game, pretty much tells the story going forward. Maybe they work out a trade, or as I said a late cut to take a chance of being able to sign him later. He just has not been consistant, is only good for deep routes IF he is up againsta lesser db who doesn't know how to re-route him.
-
That's just it, both have been catching the ball well, with their hands mind you, in traffic all camp long. However, when your play with the 2nd string quarterback most of the time, you don't get many thrown your way nor if they are, in the same stratosphere.
-
Did you notice his special teams play? At least one tackle, two other times he forced the returner back to the middle where he was tackled for little gain. He was the gunner last game and did very well. He is coming along very well, and yes, he will be the hammer.
-
Max, if you remember last year at this time, the Ravens mostly threw the ball during the pre season. My remarks then were of concern for the running game because you need reps against real defenses, game time reps to build a running game. We saw the result, no running game. This year, so far, they have made a real change to work on the running game and with pretty success. The stat is only meaningless if they fail to keep up the hard work in the season.
-
That's why one has to watch the tape and why more goes into being a receiver than just how many catches or drops. Aiken, and Butler to a lesser extent, were able to get off press coverage, get open and both did well blocking in the run game. Without receivers blocking, there are no long runs.
-
exactly, which is why I doubt the Ravens, if they plan on putting him on the ps, would "find and injury" for him........ And Crav, I am not down on Oz, my point was that there is no reason to worry about putting him on the ps based on your statement.....
-
now that is a good thing. If only they would change the defensive touching rule from an automatic first down to just a five yard penalty all will be well in the NFL.....
-
Gems yes, just not at wide receiver. Tell me, when have the RAVENS, here in Baltimore, ever developed a wide receiver? When has one ever been taken off the practice squad and gone on to do anything in the NFL? Of all the positions, Ozzie strikes out on receivers. Now this appears to have changed with the play of Smith and Brown, but they also had the teachings from the likes of Boldin and both attended the Cris Carter camps over the past few years, so some of that is not accredited to Ozzie's staff.

Im not sure I agree the team is thin at DE, several players have stepped up, he does point out McPhee, who I think is a special talent and really come along in his growth. With regular playing time I can see him get 8-10 sacks this year and he is very durable. The offensive line and secondary, including the linebackers, are thin and I don't see the rookie eveyone thinks is a stud making it through the season; so far I am far from impressed with his play.
-
Ir him, why? He, if not for the Ravens, would have gone undrafted, has not shown, in games, he is anything other than average at best. I don't see a team, baring a season ending injury to all of their slot receivers, taking him off the practice squad. I think some people are making too much of him, expecting too much of him.
-
They won't risk it, losing him, if they plan on putting him on the practice squad. When he has played, he rarely has shown anything close to what he supposedly does in practice.
