  1. Zeitler is the only one I think will not be back. He was very good, but it was rhe best season of his career, like VanNoy, can he repeat it? The Ravens obviously are not convinced or else they would have met his price.

They have 3 guards behind him, frankly I'm not too concerned.

Stanley finally has an off season to rest, from play and from recovery from surgery, so he gets a real off season.

I think that will do wonders for him. Maybe they can get him to take a pay cut to help the cap...

Either way, I don't think that the line will be as dire as some fans, media, are making it out to be.

  2. Some not so good news from the Ravens website

The Ravens did not sign Zeitler to an extension before yesterday's deadline, meaning his deal is voided and he will become a free agent. The same is true for running back Gus Edwards, safety Geno Stone and cornerback Rock-Ya Sin.  By not extending them, the Ravens will reportedly have approximately $8.5 million in dead money on the 2024 salary cap. Zeitler carries a $4 mil dead money hit, so resigning him now would not be a good cap move.

  3. Stanley is likely getting one more year, while he played better, certainly not at the level he is being paid.

Guard I think will be fine, they are working on a deal with Zeilter and have Vorhees who will be ready.

They do need tackle no doubt, someone to take over for Stanley when it will it be better, cap wise, to cut him next year. Also Moses, bring him back? Either way, at his age, right tackle is another need.

The big fella just doesn't seem to be able to handle speed rushers, but with his size and run blocking, plus still on his rookie deal, he is worth keeping around for shortyardage and goal line dutites.

There are a few good, not great, but good tackles in the draft, the Ravens should be able to at least fix the right tackle

Well, I have doubts about Franklin's frame. Aggressive NFL corners might find it easy to keep him contained. Could be why he was hot/cold during games last season.

I don't know what capital we'd have to trade, but it might be worth trading up in round one to get a starter at LT.

I wouldn't trade up in the 1st, too costly for what talent is there. Now a trade up in round 2, 3 4, sure, not as costly and better talent for the cost.

So at 30 he is to high?

Heck no, pending who else, other positions of need, were there at 30.

He is a top 6 or 7 for pick 30 if ya get my drift.

I would trade up in the 2nd to nab him, especially if the team loses a corner or two in free agency/salary cap purge

  6. Q like, maybe, IF he can translate his college play, perhaps better than Q

I agree papa about PSU players, pass rushers to be more exact.

They build their number off a weak schedule, disappear when they finally play a good team.

I like Burton, plays with an edge but he too tends to disappear in games when he is not featured.

Bad qb play at Georgia hurt him? Hardly, they won back to back Championships because of their qb play. Who ever wrote that is a dolt

As for Fuqga, solid player, the write is a bit disingenuous, Lamar was MVP  this past season without Yanda 😀

  7. Coleman I like a lot, very good skill set. Multi sport player in high-school helped to mold his game.

Not a true burner, but he can out run many, looking forward to seeing his 30 time, I'm guessing 4.5-4.9

But, he has tremendous hands, and if he can play in the pros the way he does in college, with attitude, using his size and strength, he could be a special talent.

  8. Well, it did in this one game. Their defensive secondary plays a match up zone, with their speed it frustrates a lot of quarterbacks.

But Lamar made a lot of progress this year, maybe you can't see it, maybe, you don't want to see it.

Yes, he still has a ways to go but clearly has put alot of work in, according to his teamates, proof on the field.

Will he ever be able to drop a pass in 25 yards down field along the sidelines? Or a true back shoulder throw?

I hope so, time will tell.

  9. Teams have been doing that for years against running quarterbacks. Sometimes it works, some time it does not.

When you hold off the rush and have your linebackers/safeties tied up in keeping the running quarterback from breaking free, plays open up behind them.

This is what Lamar was looking for, but hanging onto the ball too long, most times.

This is also why, in the 4th, Hill, Gus, we're able to gain big yards from the flat. Lamar finally settled down and dumped it down; big gains.

It was open all game but Lamar was locked in to deep passing for what ever reason.

Against Houston, he did the same but found the open man quicker, mostly because Kc has a faster secondary. The way you best them is short passing, a lot of first downs, move down the field.

This would have forced them into coverage, rather than spying, which would have opened his running lanes in the 4th.

No they didnt.  So often they would have someone leave their responsibility and try to get the sack and contain was blown.  Also which I didnt mention not sticking with the run on their part.

Yes, they did, 0 blitz, rush lanes, late corner blitzes. Just because the line held, or Lamar relaxed and threw to the hot read, was able to avoid it, buy time and find open receivers does not mean that they didn't try.

KC only had success because Lamar tried to do too much. It wasn't so much the blitz that he has seen most, if not all season, maybe it was just the pressure of the game?

Maybe he just wanted it too badly.

  11. It wasn't just running the ball. Even with those passing plays, he had receivers open, short, some in the flat. But he ignored then to try and get the ball down field.

Had he just done in the first 3 quarters, what he finally did in the 4th, they would have won.

  12. Some more info

    https://foxbaltimore.com/news/local/female-was-crying-911-audio-reveals-new-details-about-alleged-zay-flowers-incident-baltimore-ravens-police-baltimore-county-maryland-national-football-league-wide-receiver-domestic-violence-allegation-accusation-owings-mills

Just after 7:00 a.m. on January 16, Baltimore County dispatchers sent two officers to Flowers’s neighborhood for a welfare check after receiving an abruptly disconnected inbound call from an unknown woman.

Female answered and was crying, said she didn’t have an emergency, but she seemed in distress when she hung up the phone,” a Baltimore County police dispatcher said.

I know, not much, but they, Baltimore County and MA police are being very tight lipped which has upset many politicians here in Maryland 🙄

  13. Well, here we are again, another Super Bowl and another one where no running, predominantly, quarterback has won said game.

Of note, Lamar won his 2nd MVP, seasonal, he is now the only 2 time MVP as qb to have not won a Super Bowl,

Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Aaron Rodgers, Johnny Unitas, Kurt Warner and Steve Young, have all won at least one Super Bowl.

Now, he is young, he is transitioning to becoming more of a pocket passer, so he has time.

Yes, I know, Steve Young was once a dual threat, run first qb per se, but once he got traded to San Fran, he put more work into being a pocket passer who could kill you with his legs.

I haven't looked up the stats, nope, don't have the energy to do so, but I would say, rushing for less than 500 yards while passing for more than 2500, would qualify as a proverbial "non running qb" stat line.

I see where he has really put the work in this past season, the growth was great. He just lost site of it in the KC game. I'm looking forward to see how he progresses next season.

  14. Well, a person is allowed by law to defend then selves, my brother had an abusive wife. He 6'-2", 250 pounds, she, 5'-3", 100 punts soaking wet. She would hit hom, throw things at him, he would try to leave and she would jump on his back.

Yes, she even did these things in front of my wife & I, then call police and file a protective order against him once he was arrested.

But self defense can be to walk away, not always easy I know.

The fact that this supposedly happened the night before the game, ouch...

I hope it is not true, but if it is, he won't be playing for a while...

  15. https://nypost.com/2024/02/08/sports/ravens-zay-flowers-being-investigated-in-alleged-domestic-assault/

Ravens rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers is being investigated in connection to an alleged domestic assault, with law enforcement agencies in Maryland and Massachusetts involved.

The alleged assault occurred in the Owings Mills, Md. area on Jan. 21, the Baltimore Banner reported on Thursday, and the investigation includes Baltimore County Police and a police department in Acton, Mass.   Both agencies acknowledged to the Banner that they were made aware of the alleged assault, but declined to provide further information

  16. Well, the line did well for the most part, some of the struggles were actually because of Lamar holding the ball too long, most, not all.

Also, Voorhees will be, should be, ready to play next season, he should be a real big boost to the line, either at guard or right tackle.

Sure, they need to get some depth back if they lose a lineman or two. But I think the peices are in place.

  17. Well, there are a few contracts they can either extend or cut ties with that can free up at least $20 mil in cap space, additonal cap space with little risk or dead money.

With that said, I think Clowney should be brought back, Gus if the money isnt too outrageous for either.

Alghalor i think has earned a new deal. The secondary in my opinion should be kept in tact, if Stone doesnt want too much.

I would love to keep Madebeke, but not over pay for him. They have shown that they can find gems to augment the defensive line and make up for his loss.

VanNoy is an interesting one, he clesrly played his best season in his career this past season, but he is aging quickly, I doubt thag he can duplicate it for another season, let alone 3. So I would let him walk

  18. Hmpp, Liufau is a reach, they already have "him" on the roster, a better version of him in Simpson, who has instincts and now, experience.

Brooks tends to disappear at times, is not that great with catching the ball out of the backfield, though he can and can develop those hands. Not sold on him.

Guyton is a huge reach and risk, yes, size, some athletism, but does he have the drive? The fact that they call him immature should scare you.

I'm not sure Murphy will be there when the Ravens pick, if he is, a solid pick if Madebeke leaves.
