:P At least your Orangemen are doing pretty well this season. Correction: Your Orange are doing pretty well.

That catch by Sean Smith was insane. There is no way that Maclin or Vontae Davis falls to us.

28. Baltimore Ravens: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

Watch Robiskie turn into a world class receiver and RavensNest laugh at us all! What does everyone think about Hakeem Nicks? He is 6'1" 210, only a true junior (just turned 21), and has put up excellent produciton at UNC (only Calvin Johnson is the only three-year player in ACC history with more career receiving yards than Nicks). The guy went absolutely off on WVU in the Meineke Car Care Bowl with 8 receptions for 217 yards and 3 TDs. Despite posting a 18 YPC average, he is not a deep threat. On the flip side, he is an excellent route runner who explodes out of his cuts. He knows how to use his big body and has very soft, and strong hands to make all the catches (YouTube him, he makes highlight catches routinely). He has good instincts, and is a redzone threat with his size and athleticism. Nicks is seen as a low risk pick, but doesn't have the upside of some of the other receivers in the draft. Both Mel Kiper and UNC coach Butch Davis compared him to Michael Irvin. Kiper projects Nicks as a late first rounder, but I am sure Nick's projection will be heavily based upon his 40 time, as there are questions about his speed. -
Will the Ravens Franchise Ray Lewis to Keep Him?

Dont we have a physical shut down CB already ?

So you're telling me that you don't consider Mike Preston credible, integrable, and reasonable? What is this world coming to? -
Here is a blog on Justin Turner: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/min...tin_turner.html And an article: http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/news/arti...sp&c_id=bal Turner is definitely an interesting prospect. He has hit for average at every level, and plays a good second base. Most importantly, he is a baseball player. He could very well end up being BRob's replacement. He hit very well in a half a season at AA last year, hopefully the O's start him at AAA so he can position himself sooner for the majors.

I think Mike Jenkins is a good comparison for Brian Robiskie. Maybe we should leave it at that. What is the fun in discussing a potential mid-round draftee? -
More rumors ... Jets snagging players?
thundercleetz replied to Ravenmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Leonhard to the Jets makes a lot of sense. He would fit in very well to another ballhawking safety in Kerry Rhodes, and of course, Rex is going to be a draw for him. I am guessing that Leonhard is going to be difficult to retain. -
It doesn't matter much if you are trading the guy. So you are telling me that you are more worried about hurting a player's feeling than receiving a first round pick and two thirds (what the Chiefs got for Allen)? No on either side is crying in the Allen trade. Allen got his longterm deal, the Vikings got the player, and the Chiefs got the pick. It is hardly a manipulation of the system, it is protecting and compensating yourself against losing one of your Pro Bowl players.

You are right. Brown wants to come back, and Brown is one of those guys where we probably would match any offer he gets, he is worth it. I guess it would be wasting the franchise tag. Definitely tag Suggs again.
-
I believe we are allowed to franchise Suggs again. The Chiefs franchised Jared Allen and then traded him for a very nice haul. If we could get such a deal for Suggs, we would have to strongly consider it. Speaking of the franchise tag, think there is a chance we use it on Jay Brown? I am not sure what the top five center salary is, but I don't think it is nearly as high as the guard position. Brown is probably going to be in high demand. He is very young with lots of experience, has been very productive, and has Pro-Bowl talent.

thundercleetz replied to moonman's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Here are two quotes that sum the situation up: In other words, if Cmac is back to 100%, I am sure he would be in our plans. However, we might need his cap space to re-sign cornerstone players such as Suggs and Jay Brown. -
Has the Ravens taking CB D.J. Moore out of Vandy. DHB is taken one spot before us by Miami. Some other notables that have been mentioned on this board are Vontae Davis taken 14th by New Orleans, Maclin 7th by Oakland, Harvin 17th by the Jets, and Laurinaitis 29th by the Giants. DHB is actually the 5th receiver off of the board after Crabtree, Maclin, Harvin, and Hakeem Nicks out of UNC.

Take Dwan Edwards off of that list. http://ravens24x7.com/column_view.php?cid=...mp;view=archive I would say we are pretty good on the interior line with Ngata, Bannan, McKinney, Douglas, and Edwards. We just need some outside rush now.

Didn't you guys hear? Gruden is going to be the next coach of Notre Dame? I love this time of year, rumors galore!
-
This rumor is stemming from speculation by Gil Brandt on Sirius Radio when he was asked, in his opinion, who could be a potential suitor for Ray Lewis. I heard the segment, PFW took the speculation word-for-word and posted it as a rumor. From there it took off like wild fire. I would not be surprised if this rumor gives Jerry Jones the idea to go after Ray Lewis though.

Hear are some articles on Felix for those who want to know what kind of person he is, and find that he is not another Corey Patterson. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/slezak/1386...carol20.article http://www.suntimes.com/sports/couch/44867...-greg29.article I love the guy's attitude and passion for the game. He should have a ball playing the outfield with Jones and Markakis.
-
Why don't you just run the offense then? :P While I did want us to run the ball more, I do agree with your assessment, we needed more quick hitters to counter the pass rush. Pittsburgh was doing that to us. I believe Pittsburgh is going to have a very difficult time with Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin, and crew next week. Warner is the #1 QB in the league rating wise when blitzed, he gets rid of the ball very fast.

Rex Ryan Agrees to Four-Year Deal to Coach Jets
thundercleetz replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I am thinking this as well, but Cam is here to stay. We will get Cam some new weapons on offense, and Cam will make the necessary adjustments. He is still a good coach. With a whole offseason working with Flacco, I am sure we are going to see some new wrinkles in the offense to cater towards Flacco's strengths. It is going to suck losing Jackson though. -
What do you think about our prospects for next year max, and what needs to be done?

Rex Ryan Agrees to Four-Year Deal to Coach Jets
thundercleetz replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Hugh Jackson deserves an OC job. I do not think anyone in the Castle believed that we would be able to keep Hugh as a position coach for more than a year. He is just too talented and intelligent. I would not let Brooks or Carrier leave for lateral moves, they have been tremendous this season. I do believe that Brooks and Ryan are good friends, we should not keep Brooks here against his will. Maybe we should raid the Steelers staff. They could have our next DC. :o -
I do not think the hit was malicious. As a football player, you react to where the ball is going. Clark started sprinting when he saw where Flacco was throwing the ball. McGahee was also at full speed and they just happened to be in line for a head on collision. There was nothing either player could have done, at that point it was a train crash. Clark did not spear through him, they both kind of bounced off of each other. The hit was completely incidental in that respect.
