  1. Well certainly, and yes, the depositions are especially damning. But in the end, what we're technically reading is one side of the story - with all evidence put in that context - as written and filed 13 years ago. Manning undoubtedly did respond to this document at that time. And he certainly can respond again. But like with any other news story, having to respond to an already established say of "facts" is a tremendous disadvantage. Again, I'm really on no side here just thinking out loud.
  2. I'm confused by the original King story a bit. Is the entire story he wrote based primarily on the "statement of facts" he received anonymously? If so, it isn't clear and it should be. Not a defense of Manning, but a plaintiff's statement of facts is not actually fact, it's their side of the story. There is still plenty (PLENTY) in it that is disturbing. And the decision by the Manning family to include her in the book is baffling, downright stupid even. But I just can't tell whose story I'm reading. The set up makes it sound like it's ask from that one doc.
  3. While I didn't even see this, two questions: 1. How many ways do you have in your pocket to say "told you so" 2. Did you cite a source (a valid, reliable, in context source) or did you just say things again and leave it open to the obvious "says who?" response?

    Good Point

Well, we could say that, and there's got to be summer truth. But it's also not like the guy came in as a star either, he played for years and want a standout. Maybe his time with the Ravens made him good enough to break out in Denver? It's all possible.
  5. My favorite (least favorite?) is that most are dismissed because "there is no official Senate rule" on the behavior reported. If people felt the need to report the behavior as unethical, maybe we should consider making some rules or closing some loopholes about such behavior... Ugh. I hate our system.

    A Sound Hire

You missed the point. It's not about the good coaches who deserve to be hired where a connection helps you land him. It's about the bad coaches who stay put and keep getting hired for that same reason. It's the quid pro quo on recruiting and coaching that starts way earlier. Honestly,it wasn't even a statement about this guy as it was about hires in general. In every sport. The guy with the name, the guy with the connections, the guy with an IOU from someone lingers around for years while who knows how many skilled people are passed by. I'm certainly sympathetic to alcoholism and all for second chances, but just how many people get arrested twice in a matter of months and not only keep their job but continue through the league in such a way without almost any repercussions? Pro sports are so far removed from the real world I nearly stop watching.

    A Sound Hire

Even the Ravens aren't immune to the good old boys network - perhaps what I hate most out of all sports realities. Friend, brother, former player? You're on.
  8. On Mancini, the 390 obp looks great... But when it's on a 340 average, it looks less impressive. And 22 walks... Becomes 40 in a full season. Any decent obp guy needs to be pushing double that.
  9. The Sun reported today that the O's only had one or two prospects in the major rankings that came out this week: Harvey and Bundy. Bundy didn't make some lists. Neither ranked in top 50, tended to be 60s to 80s. The front office has sold us on a false narrative about our farm system for 20years now. When I look at the lists, I can't think of who else belongs... But Duquette maintains we're being under valued. Even Trey Mancini, who I'm excited about, really has a limited upside. Great average, coming into his power, but almost no walks... Clear sign to me that he'll struggle to move up. Probably why they were so eager to get Davis and even Trumbo
  10. The more I've read, the less I want gallardo. Just no. Meanwhile, is it coincidence my phone auto corrects gallardo to gallstones? I think not, and it makes the above statement more forceful.
  11. I thought it meant he played for the other team.... Great, now I'm going to hell.
  12. Yeah, Loch Raven in the county is one and some, but the some is now sidewalk since those don't exist. In many areas it goes to just one lane. And of course, now to get more they have to plow even bigger, and now more frozen, piles... I'm still leaving towards schools out all week. But even if we get there, Thursday earliest, it will be delayed for a few days...
  13. Sounds wrong. Meanwhile, that's kinda how James Watt came up with horsepower, no?
  14. plows coming regular now,b ut we still have two inches on the road. We're a school bus path so that explains it,other roads in neighborhood hardly touched. But even for us, still just one lane... Got one car out. Other totally gone. Not sure how to get it out. Six plus feet, four feet high between road and car... For entire car length. Just... How?! And no where to put what I do clear!
  15. We just walked up to my brother in law's house, they are 15 houses up a very flat street... Holy tundra trek! Certainly not made easier by carrying a toddler, but even the 12" still on the street was like walking through quick sand. Exhausting. Ready to collapse. We were, by the tracks, the only people to have moved more than one house away from home. Should have known.
  16. Ocean City got nailed by wind and surf... Heard the pier is damaged again. Fun. Also - screw the driveway! Park on the street.
  17. BWI reports 29.2" as of 7pm. Biggest storm in history, still a few hours to go... Next biggest around 27" so it's not even close. I guess that puts us over 30" here. Heard Reisterstown was at 29" several hours ago...
  18. I was trying to avoid having to shovel all three feet at once... But it was still depressing. Lol
  19. I think we're right about my 28" prediction in Towson. Shoveled at 10am. That's gone now. Plows stopped coming by around then too... So our plowed road had 10 inches by 4pm. Can't see either car thanks to plow contributions too.
  20. Because in every apocalyptic movie and story, there is the talk about finding gas and the abandoned stations, etc. Lol. But I had the same queasy feeling.
  21. Something I'd never seen: two gas stations in Towson with no gas at 10am. Third had ten cars at every pump. Wild. Also, when Lowe's and home depot are out of everything, Salvo had it all- ice melt, gas cans, shovels...
  22. Welcome to the lawsuit generation... And bussing.
