  1. Actually, his image was who first flashed into my head when I saw the topic... but I knew it wasn't right. Took me a minute to place Matt Flynn.
  2. Deal. I'll delete your account when I get home.
  3. You're right. I don't consider a hobby worth yelling, shouting or cursing over. I am clearly the one out of touch.
  4. I think you read that wrong. I came back. Read one thread. Found it filled with hate and personal attacks. And am still disappointed that this is what any decent football question devolves into around here these days.
  5. Donald Trump appears. It all makes sense now. Sorry I stopped in to see how the Ravens discussions were going... Apparently all the same.
  6. Chen has to be a resign. Pitching options are so limited and his numbers have been so consistent and getting better. Wish he could work further into games, but plenty of teams are winning in the solid bullpen model these days. Can't give you very good just to maybe have a chance at something better...
  7. Made it to Hot August Music Festival yesterday, was very cool. Saw some great acts like Cabinet (bluegrass jam band) and Punch Brothers (side project of Nickel Creek front man). Headliner was Counting Crows... personal fave who played a great set, but short - only about 90 min Did a great alternate version of one of their sins I hadn't heard before - Goodnight Elizabeth mashed with Lou Reeds Pale Blue Eyes. Below is a version from years past, transition is at about 3:30. They are great at mixing these things.
  8. I think we'll go hard after Parra for his defense. The defensive failings in the OF have hurt this year, as much as the lame bats. Davis now has 15hr in 23 games. Wow. He'll be expensive, but the question is simple: how likely are we to find 30-40++ hr power on the market or elsewhere? The leaderboards each year showe clearly that you don't find many...
  9. I'm sure not pulling Matusz was as much about saving arms, especially in the road trip. End of series. Extra innings. But I'm more questioning the double walk. Bases loaded and any hit is an automatic run. First and second not only leaves you with force outs and the walk if the at bat goes bad, but also with a chance that a single doesn't score... Sigh
  10. I'm (definitely am) scared of the Jays with their additions... Meanwhile, can't believe Buck walked two just to get the lefty match up, which failed. Sigh.
  11. Well, after a DFA you have yen days to trade or have them picked up by waivers. If that doesn't happen, the default is a straight release. So, in a sense, just the logical follow through... But yes, officially not with the organization as of today perhaps
  12. Norris news is old... Must've missed it before, crav. He could be back next year, but not with the roster spot and money these last few months. He'll get a contract for the next two months though...
  13. Probably not far off... Sometimes Pie flashed brilliance. Maybe this time we hit.
  14. Heard Lake was once described as having unreal talent but the inability to harness it. Sounds like a potential classic late bloomer. He's still only 25, having a good season at AAA... Who knows
  15. Saw that. Not sure what they're giving up yet
  16. Bud hada nice farewell tweet... Bright up his crazy illness from earlier this year which I forgot about. Wish him the best. Still want another piece.
  17. Olney just tweeted that Cespedes is still in our sights too.. Can't see that happening but not opposed. Id be pleased with Revere and Parra and that new top of the order...
  18. Yeah, the more I think about Revere, he'd be a legit lead off guy and speedy... Defense is OK, not great... But getting Machado to the 2-spot (or three with Parra on 2) would be very nice.
  19. Parra had never sustained for a year, but he's always had this level in spurts... He's also never had the power, but like Revere his averaged have always been OK. I like the Parra move. Curious the cubs want another O's pitcher. Wonder who we want...
  20. Hearing now they are looking at Parra and Revere. Not a Revere fan, but he's under team control for 2-3 more years and a good leadoff guy we desperately need. I like Parra and he's having a great year, but will be a free agent, I think. Not sure we will be willing to pay for him as a rental...
  21. Random thing I looked up: Jays salaries... http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TOR/2015-payroll-salaries.shtml Two thoughts: 1. Not as bad as I thought right now. 126m. 2. They only have two players fully signed for next year: Tulo at $20m and Russell Martin at $15m. Martin is a total ripoff. But aside from that, many guys are at end contract with steep options... And many are under control for arbitration... But so many open ends. Donaldson may well break the arbitration record. But the likes of Price and others will walk or cost a fortune. Not sure what that team will look like next year.
  22. Do I wish we got someone? Sure. But two things we all know: 1. We don't have the farm pieces to land these guys. Our best pieces are injured and we shouldn't move them anyway. We could have become sellers and moved Davis and Wieters, but you don't land a big piece for right now (like Price) for a rental. 2. In the end, the Jays are likely losers in both moves longer run. If rather hold our pieces. Maybe it wins then the Series... I doubt it. But they get Price for two months before he's owed a huge pay day. Tulo is owed a ton already. Maybe he's worth his contract, but likely but with his injury history. So they are weighed down with that when it comes time to reload on a guy like Price or Donaldson or anyone...
  23. I never trust our farm system. Can never tell if guys are just being brought along slowly or if they know something we don't... I tend to think the latter. Meanwhile, Jays get Price too. Now they are getting serious... But their arms can only win them one in five. But their bats can win a lot...
  24. Fun facts: Five straight wins. Including tonight, which was a gem, Tillman had allowed just five runs in his last five starts. And while the numbers are amazing, most amazing is that his peripherals (babip) show that it's not just dumb luck. Despite a short for inning outing (2er) two weeks back, he's been great.
  25. I agree. If there's one place Duquette really gets me is in his failure to admit when the bargain play doesn't pan out. At this point, cutting Snider or selling him at super low value had virtually no down side... The question might be who do we field in his stead, but I'm being we can find a body that will stake out a corner of spot and put up his numbers. Lough getting more starts on the regular... Not opposed for now, but we still also need Reimold and Paredes to level out a bit
