  1. I don't think I said you were deep. I think we're in agreement - you're shallow. Your goal is to one-up. Sure, people have "jumped all over you" in disagreement with your opinions. That's called the discussion. You know you're not the most tactful personality on here (nor am I). It gets heated. But you clearly love to "throw it back." That's not "what comes around goes around"... that's "Ha, I get to one up" And I stand by my point... people would be a lot less negative towards it all if it didn't take someone like me calling you out on the O's forum to get you to give your own treatment to yourself. Well before your post with every last little quote, plenty of people were on here saying, "man, we were wrong about this..." I don't think anyone counts on you to do the same. I can hardly remember an instance in which you've admitted a mistake unless directly called out for it. But maybe your elephant-like memory can help me remember.
  2. But only because he's gay, right, Cleetz? That's the only reason anyone would have interest in him.
  3. Papa, you do realize that I called you out on the O's primarily because it's the past you take so frequently... And coupled with the fact we actually made an agreed upon, "OK, this is what I see coming, let's see who's right?" Even the point of getting the predictions on record was to highlight this habit of yours in the first place. Sure you have a memory like an elephant, but I guess the question is what purpose does it serve? I don't think many were taking "S"... They were just talking. And holding on to every comment to be able throw it back (without being willing to call on your own mistakes the same way) isn't impressive, it's shallow and vindictive.
  4. Does a suspended players salary count against the cap? In many leagues it doesn't. So wouldn't the better financial move have been to keep him (not counting the press and marketing side of course). I think it's a fine move even though I'm sure the motive is more press than anything else. Though I do wonder why the league let's every other player in a fight or with a DUI play and why we all don't priest the whole gang league for condoning violence of all kinds
  5. The CarMax promo is local - dropped in by Comcast or whoever your local provider is. But ironic nonetheless. How long until all those local spots disappear?
  6. I don't entirely disagree. Violence in any form is simply not tolerable, and yet the league is full of drunk drivers (including those who have injured or killed), batterers, etc, etc. Few if any are outright cut. Few if any are so publicly shamed. I don't say, "we all make mistakes" to mean that we should forget. But a society that doesn't understand the idea that people "second chances" is bound to be full of prisoners and ex-cons who are practically unemployable. Of course, simultaneously, I don't for a moment hesitate to say - you can have that second chance when you've done your punishment and served your time. And it's pretty sad that the Atlantic City DA and police refused to pursue this any more intensely.
  7. According to TMZ, they have had the video since about the time they got the first video... but they haven't revealed why they kept it private for so long. I could see the NFL or someone else being involved, but who knows. Meanwhile, the hotel is apparently saying that they never released the video to anyone. So very possible that NFL/Ravens didn't get it from them. What does it matter, is the bigger question.
  8. Papa... Do you keep a Google account with every post you want to bring up in the future?
  9. Cruz with all seven RBI... Huge. Meanwhile, I have not been able to watch many games through to the end. But isn't it nice to know our assumption that they would lose/blow it (so ingrained for a decade) is now wrong??
  10. Well, we know their bats can go cold on a moment's notice... But they have hit against all the other playoff bound teams except for Detroit, so who knows. And we still have to be fair that they lost those series to Detroit at the teams lowest point in the season...
  11. 83 wins... But still 20 games left. I think you're going to be off by a few. ;)
  12. I also don't buy the "too short" argument about his career in college. I guess that at least a quarter of the guys in the league made their name on one season in college. Some great some duds. Again, not arguing that the guy is a guaranteed pro bowler, but just that some of the "obvious" reasons he couldn't possibly be good.
  13. South Florida has had a number of solid seasons recently - weren't they a big bowl crasher a few years ago? Meanwhile, UMD was it's own worst enemy... but that happens to everyone from time to time. Move on with a W.
  14. I followed them. I read plenty here and there. Didn't expect the opposite, either. Just didn't expect to look quite so impotent (on both sides of the ball)
  15. You know... I didn't get to watch much of the preseason... but based on our record there and what most were saying here... I did not expect this.
  16. First, I wouldn't doubt if he came out of the publicity. But at the same time, my entire argument is that until "coming out" isn't a publicity stunt - that was going to happen regardless. I don't really care why he came out. He shouldn't have to anyway. But more importantly, I completely understand that you don't think he's a worthy player. And he may well not be. But I very simply cannot believe that, as you say, his sexuality had 0% to do with the decision. Any argument to the contrary is naive; given that it's all anyone ever has to say about him (most, like Crav, can't criticize his play without criticizing his taste in partners) how can it not be a factor?
  17. I don't entirely disagree. I just think it gets old sometimes. Not sure how many times I can listen to his Barkeley impersonation because ALL he says is knucklehead... or that's how it feels. Just depends what the goal is Caliendo does what he does better than anyone. Just not always what I'm in the mood for.
  18. You know, I understand this... but this will be the case until it's not "news" ... and it's going to be news until someone breaks the mold. It's a cycle. And it's a pathetic one. The fact is - we know very little about how good or bad Sam would be as a player because no one is giving him a real shot, in my view. He could be Brian Bosworth. He could be Terrell Suggs. Teams bring on all kinds of media crap, as you say. I'm tired of this "PR" bullshit and this "team chemistry" bull too. Team chemistry was used to DEFEND Richie Incognito. But then it's also used to exclude others. So it cuts both ways... or in other words, it can be manipulated to defend virtually any stance. How about someone do what's right more than do what's convenient.
  19. There are plenty of duds... of course. But to my recollection, both were on teams in the NFL. No one went running from them BEFORE their first NFL game.
  20. For out of five what? To my eyes there's only for videos here... Or only three impressions... ?
  21. You don't think most teams could use an average player? Meanwhile, I still find it hard to believe a defensive player of the year magically becomes so horrid that no one wants a part of him. Find me another example from a major conference.
  22. I just love, "This is either the best idea I've ever had or the worst idea ..."
  23. It's also funny when this proves exactly the point Papa is making and the author doesn't realize it.
  24. By the way, I may have shared this before, but on the topic of Geoff the Robot (tangent)... I don't know that late night has ever been funnier than when Larry King stood in and voiced Geoff for a night. He didn't really understand the concept of, "the sidekick gets to make a one-liner ... then shuts up." Fast-forward to about 2 minutes to hear him interject and ramble ... and ramble...
  25. Caliendo is great. My only problem with him is he occasionally is impersonating the caricatures of these guys - or their famous roles. His Morgan Freeman is great, but he's only doing Freeman from Shawshank. In real life, Freeman's got an awesome voice of course but sounds more casual. I've always liked this bit - there's something just simple about it.
