  1. I've always been on Kubiak's bus. But haven't been here. All I know is he put together some pretty successful offenses in Houston with some pretty mediocre talent at times.
  2. Sounds like you have it under control. Just also remember getting it balanced again when you refill will take some time - don't rush it with chemicals by too much, the best answer is almost always more water. And don't rush and use it before it's ready. Of course, a pool that small (comparing to big lap pools of course) is not easy to keep in balance.
  3. I don't disagree. I just think the one line doesn't say it all . ...
  4. Precisely, Spen. It's also not put well - especially out of context. But if it were in response to "Why didn't this club sign Robbie Cano?" ... No one would think twice.
  5. Like his father, awful with words. But the heart of that quote isn't as bad as it reads first. Papa, especially, shouldn't you respect that "going for broke" every year would mean tons of awful contracts you hate, ultimately hurting the team in the future?
  6. Miami and Cleveland have not fired SUCCESSFUL coaches one year after extending them. That's the difference. Miami and Cleveland regularly fire coaches after one season.
  7. Lots of reasons to not empty your pool - but most of those are about long-term emptying. If you can get the job done in a week or so, you should be ok. But inground pools are meant to have water in them; it's not just nearby water that can cause issues - its also just the pressure of the ground nearby, etc that push on the pool when there is no water there to push back.
  8. Ultimately, short answer isn't it won't take long as you probably get 100+GPM easily... And so long as its legal and the water is clean, you can run a backwash or a flush (flush/rinse) is better if your pump/valves have the option. At 100GPM, it would take 90min to empty... No?
  9. Is this above ground? Either, do you have a flow meter? That's what I'm looking for... Your pump creates certain flow, just divide total gallonage of pool by flow in gallon/min.
  10. I thought he was the OL coach all along AND the run game coordinator. And that, if anything, one of those titles was removed - not added?
  11. Crav... As an old pool op: need more info. What's pumping the water out? How fast? Etc etc.
  12. Not a Castillo fan in the slightest. The only glimmer I see is that many reported - even Bryant McKinney - that Castillo is a good coach and good at 'making players.' The hope is that one year / one training camp wasn't enough to turn the crew we had into the crew he wanted to create. Do I actually believe in that? Not really. But who knows? Maybe he can teach his scheme with more time. Maybe our guys - or new guys - can learn it. Maybe our running backs can be taught how to run behind it.
  13. But I'm bored and it was winter break...
  14. You think I'm upset. I'm just stating plainly what everyone else here has given up saying. Still waiting for you to argue on merits. Still waiting for you to read this thread in order. Geronimo and I were able to talk like adults almost. I am sure you can too.
  15. Maybe its changed, but I'm pretty sure from Tomlinson to Peterson, RBs have historically been at their best (numbers wise) in seasons 27-28. Sure it's different for every player individually, but it's also be unfair to say they are at their prime age 22-24.
  16. The varying cap numbers might have to do with differing estimates on the upcoming cap vs using last year's cap number. Also, I am encouraged in reading that Ray Rice is only 26. Isn't a running back supposed to be in their prime 27-28? I still worry little about Rice and far more about the line that was in front of him. It was wild watching the games yesterday and seeing QBs with 3-4 seconds consistently (sometimes so much more!) and RBs with huge holes and gaps. Just wild.
  17. "Ideally, the Ravens would like to have more salary cap space..." Who wouldn't? But good run down on some situations we face with vets and major contracts to look for.
  18. Also, nice work in establishing another new buzzword, "anti Raven." Here's where you become an ass: to me and most here, the only thing anti Raven is hating the Ravens and/or their players without cause. And we can talk and disagree about whats best for the team without atracking. To you, anyone who disagrees with you is anti Raven.
  19. Go re-read. The discussion was that it's stupid to call the record the most unbreakable. That's all we've been talking about. YOU are the one who tried to turn it. Feel free to read my other posts too, by the way.
  20. By the way - watching the Oher clip on repeat, can we notice how horrid that play was in sum? Half the line gets beat. Marlon Brown gets beat. Even if Oher makes that block, the DBs on the outside had it read and were in position. If he cut back in, the entire inside blocking line is destroyed. Makes me think a lot more about the report that the Pats players were calling our plays back to us at the line.
  21. Re: the Oher clip -- seems to me that he was leading the DB and Pierce was supposed to cut in. It's not Oher getting pushed back so much as taking 3 steps back before engaging. I am not a technique guy nor a schemes guy - at least not much above average - but that seems to me that it wasn't Oher's job to push up. (Now, did he get it wrong? Did he simply fail? Did Pierce get it wrong? I dunno). Re; the draft. If we're totally honest, with the 17th pick in the draft, the Ravens trade to the ... Pats? Browns? Vikings? who cares, name a team ... for several later picks. Ozzie has been opting out a bit more than I'd like recently. In fact, we've traded our first rounder in 2 of the last four years and attempted to do it in 2011 but failed (remember that debacle?)
  22. Crav, I think Brees' 39-12 TD to INT ratio explains something. And Ryan's 26-17 also seems to answer your question.
  23. To the merits of your earlier arguments, two thoughts: First, again, I actually agree pretty much entirely. I especially agree that he should be compared to the best of the best and that we should hold him to that standard. I think people defend Joe (and his contract) in large part because of the history this team. It's not right per se, but it's probably true. Given the history of lackluster and horrible QBs that this team dealt with for its for 10+ years, I think you can bet that people are going wild over even a hint of "good." And they are scared to death to lose that "good." You are 100% right that other teams have and will make it with average QBs. But we never seemed to even get to average. I think people are worried that without Joe, the only other option is Kyle Boller or Chris Redman or Trent Dilfer. Is this a valid fear? Maybe. But it should not preclude Joe from criticism -- and I personally don't think it does. But I do think that is why some show him deference. Second, on a personal note - and getting to the whole "you guys" assertions again - I personally have only really excused (in part) Joe because of the offensive line. I think the line was the primary problem facing our offense all season. It's also why I have been a rather staunch defender of Ray Rice while others have said he's done. No one was able to run. That makes it pretty clear to me it's not a RB problem. So I blame the OL. But please don't lump me into some group that says that "it's the OL, the RB, the receivers." No. They all failed to degrees. Joe failed seriously. I put primary blame on the OL. And we can agree to disagree, but I would say that one thing Peyton and Brady have always had on their side is strong line play.
  24. Geronimo, Thanks for actually responding. Here's my only bone of contention: you call everyone a groupie. You even say it right there "you guys." Anyone who has a single disagreement with your analysis is deemed a groupie. Why isn't it possible to agree in part but disagree in part? Meanwhile, I told you what my motive was - my motive was stupid arguing. You want to argue that Joe should be compared to Peyton and Brady? Damn right he should. And he doesn't match up to them. And we are going to struggle at times because of that. And so long as he is making that much money and calling himself "the best in the league" - and so long as we want to win at a level like Brady and Manning - then he and his mistakes are fair game. And his mistakes and his bad reads and his bad audibles are all fair game. But SAY THAT - instead of just making a "joke" to rile feathers. I wasn't defending Joe; I was going after your hyperbole and inability to get around to the kind of post above (which is the kind we should be reading and the kind I am happy to discuss).
