Desperate times call for desperate measures, eh?
-
I missed the pick (need to watch reply) but its a dang shame a game changing call is blown like that. While it shouldn't have come down to it, its the difference between us being 1-1 and 0-2. It will look a whole larger later in the season.

Some disappointing, disturbing trends here guys. What surprised me yesterday the most was the absence of any pass rush. Tony Romo, who is Dallas' prized possession, gets clobbered.in Philly and they break the guys' collarbone. Meanwhile, we cant touch this Carr kid most of the game and make him look like second coming. I don't get it !
-
Exactly. This is starting to feel like the Billick-Boller era, eh ?
-
The Raiders played like I thought they would after getting blown out. We played like either like we were hungover from Denver or looking ahead to Cincy. Either way, we aren't a good team right now and Cincy ought to take us behind the woodshed next weekend and then the Stealers after that. I wonder what Peter King is thinking about his Super Bowl pick now .

Rough start to the season folks ! I thought the game would at least be close.

I thought the same thing but didn't say for fear of being extricated from this site. Such remarks are often judged as "Debby Downer" esque

I don't typically dwell on past games and hate to belabor the point but, man, was Joe Flacco's pick-6 (to Aqib Talib) in the second half a huge game changer or what ? I reviewed the game last night (which was painful to watch at times). At any rate, after Jimmy Smith's pick-6, our D completely took over the game and the momentum was clearly on our side. We were completely in control in the 3rd Q, even the offense was moving the ball (including a few Buck Allen runs). Then BANG ! Joe's pick changed everything - the momentum, Denver D's swagger, crowd noise, and most importantly the score. In my mind, that one singular play is the difference between our being 0-1 and 1-0.

Oops; wrong team ! Well, at least the Bosox O woke up. Meanwhile, we make Boston's +5.0 ERA look like Bob Gibson. Geeeeeeeezzzz!
-
The offense should be resurrected tonight as the Botox and Os starting pitchers own 5+ ERA. Could be a football score with a couple of touchdowns and extra points to boot .

Strictly depth purposes ?

Time will tell about the WR corps. Maybe Aiken, Campanoro, Brown and Perriman (a few months down the road) will collectively all step up. In the meantime, our rushing attack and TEs - Gilmore and Max - and HB - Juscyk (sp?) may be the most viable element in our offense as our WR corps begins to gel. The offense needs to play to its strength and the latter may be our best short term option.
-
If exactly, great post = no contingency plan for Perriman, then gird yourself for more of the same offensive performances in the next 4-8 weeks. This offense has 0 vertical threats and wont until October and, even then, may take this guy the equivalent of camp and pre season to get into NFL playing shape (November). I suppose an experienced pair of hands isn't worth a look-see. Even our reigning SB champs, with their receiving weapons, investigate their options.
-
With our WR situation and Perrimans precarious status, is our FO checking out available FAs? This is not a sky is falling question, but wondering about our contingency plan for Perriman. With our current crop, the passing game looks pretty hopeless. There are a coupe of guys we could be kicking the tires on - Wayne, Nicks, etc.

I'm with you Cleetz. However like in the divisional loss at New England last year and the Torry Smith pick, our offense abandons the run to quickly in the final minute. In Sunday's game, we had the ball around the 18 yard line with just under a minute left and could have at least run the ball once or twice just to mix things up or possibly even score some this direction . Plus we may have kept a couple of Broncos off of Joe's arse. Not to mention if Steve Smith scores on that touchdown Denver had 30 some odd second left to get in field-goal range and their kicker already booted a couple of 57 yard FGs. So , in some ways we were trying to score almost to quick. Sorry for my rambling . Just saying

Agree with the notion that Smith makes that catch 9 out of 10 times.
-
If we can keep the opponents out of the endzone, we might make it more interesting
-
This guy in someways reminds me of a young Michael McCrary, at least motor wise .
-
Or Steve Smith's opponent's lunch money.....on that last drive

In lamenting over yesterdays loss, a few Q s quickly came to mind: 1. In the final potential game winning drive, after Forsett's 10- 15 yd run, why with 1 minute (and 2 TOs) did we pass every down ? Denver was bringing the heat every play; and the run game was starting to click. If nothing else, it may have kept the rush off guard. Hindsight is 20/20 but we had plenty of time. 2. Who filled in for Suggs after he went out ? Aside from the 10-11 minutes drive, the D actually looked fine. I noticed Suggs had no sacks or tackles. Perhaps his backups are just fine. We lose leadership and veteran presence but maybe Daryl Smith becomes that guy. 3. What happened to Trestman's withholding the game plan in the pre-season; keeping it vanilla ? Is he still keeping in vanilla ? 4. What the hell happened to our O - line ? Ben R loses Pouncey and everyone in the NFL said the sky is falling. Pitts O was fine in NE. We are supposed to have this elite O-Line; what happened ? 5. This team abandons the run game too soon, too often. Why, with the lack of decent receivers (S Smith our best), did we not pound the ball, especially before game changing pick 6 to Talib. We had just run the ball for 20- 25 yards with Buck Allen. At worst, we run and stall near mid field and punt/pin Broncos near goal line. We could have done what Denver did to us on that 10-11 minute drive. Thoughts ?
-
Ha ! Everybody likes a wise guy.
-
Btw - who filled in for Suggs after he went down? Anyone know ?
-
It stinks but next man up. We will see what this team is made of now. It's a huge defensive blown but hell I'm way more concerned about the offense after today's showing.
-
Yep, scoring TDs is a good thing and will win you a lot of games.
