We can't win because Mike Greenberg just picked us to win straight up. He's also picked us to go to Super Bowl. Aside from being jinxed, we've made 2 average QBs look like Aaron Rodgers the last 2 weeks. In spite of all the naysayers and PETA activists, Vick will probably have a career game. We go 0-4 and are buried by the media and football pundits. The focus shifts to 2016 draft and rumors of Ozzies demise abound. That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it !

Good point. You wonder why the Owner/FO has never succeeded with an OC. Its always been a perennial conundrum and shortfall of the org.
-
Yep, its too bad we don't have 52 others with his heart, intensity and swagger. Oh yeah, and he's retiring in what 3-4 months.

The team's decline - talent, performance, production has been well documented. And agreed we road the coat tails of the D - Ray, Reed & Suggs - and caught lightning in a bottle in 2013. The D is, for all practical purposes, done and gone. And the O isn't far behind. Coaching-wise, we appear to be lost, out of touch with the winning formula that is apparent in places like Pats-Bellichick, Packers - Mc Carthy. Perhaps its a function of QB or just a winning culture. Even Cincy's Marvin Lewis is schooling Harbaugh. Haven't they defeated us 5 or 6 in a row ? My point- there is mucho blame to go around and a lot of stuff to fix. It may be that the Biscuit has a a FO, coaching and personnel rebuild in front of him. Note, this is not another sky is falling remark but a realistic observation about an organization in need of changes, if it wants to return to viability in today's NFL.

That's a good dream though. maybe Trestman could pull some strings ?
-
There is no question that Ozzie is a Hall of Famer both as a player and a GM . And his accomplishments are indisputable . I think the real question though is whether the game has perhaps passed him by.

You know Crav, I hear those warmups are brutal and intense. They can actually harm your body if you overexert yourself .
-
We need a captain or leader on the D. Too bad we didn't make a run at Cam Chancellor. Desperate times call for desperate measures. This D is soft and has no balls. Ray and Ed must get the shakes watching this D.
-
Interesting stuff Crav. A Wayne suggestion two to three weeks ago viewed as "the sky aint falling" is now making sense. This board is funny ! Whatever, we need more than 1 professional receiver on this offense. SSS alone was never going to cut this year. Next year only gets worse.

Yep, long seasons stink. It's downright embarrassing to be looking up at the Browns in the division. Let that one sink in for a moment. Maybe all this - from terrible draft picks, ineffective FA moves, and questionable coaching selections - has caught up with us. Plus, maybe Oz ain't quite the Oz any more. This all adds up to some changes ought to be coming. Maybe not this week but before too long. I guess the good news is that strong organizations figure it out.
-
I didn't either. Talent wise, the Bengals are a superior team. I'm not sure how we even kept up and had a chance to win.
-
Agreed. Whatever happened to our running game and OL?
-
Are Ed Reed or Ray available to coach the D?
-
I still stand behind the above winning formula. At least 2 of the above three boxes have to checked in order to win.
-
Well Max, that's been the trend so far. Don't expect tomorrow to be any different.

Well, regarding Fox article, that's easy, we need to figure out how to keep Buck and replace Duq w/ someone who can retain or sign guys to help us win. Buck has been managing his butt off while we have this turnstile of players coming in and out of the program. Last year's debacle of losing Markakis and Cruz was unacceptable to even the most casual fan or observer .

Well, if nothing else, last night the Giants showed how an 0-2 team (which easily could have been 2-0) takes care of business by doing all the necessary things to win the game. No, we aren't the Giants and we are not playing the Skins. However, the same winning formula applies - control the LOS, play to your strengths and limit/eliminate mistakes. Lets see how the Ravens respond Sunday !
-
And with Pope just arriving, maybe throw in a special novena while we are at it

I don't know which team is showing up Sundays vs. Bengals; the one that's underachieved the first two games of the season or one that comes out with a purpose and sense of urgency. If the latter shows up Sunday; these three must happen in order to win: 1. The offense has to immediately pound the rock and consistently throughout the game. The OL has to make a statement and own the LOS; Forsett, Taliefero, and Allen have to run with authority and collectively gain at least 150 yards. This will set the tone for the game, take some pressure off Joe and our evolving WR corps, and preserve our D. 2. The defense need to make a huge statement right out of the gates. The pass rush must overwhelm and suffocate Andy Dalton the entire game and work in tandem with the secondary. The D must have multiple Dalton sacks and create at least 2-3 turnovers. The DL must control the LOS and neutralize the running game, and the secondary cant give up the long play to Green, Sanu or Eifert. 3. Harbaugh has to have these guys ready, jacked up to play relentless, focused and fast ball for 60 minutes. This team will either set the tone, control the dictate m If all three happen, we have a shot of winning and going 1-2. If not, we are 0-3 and 2016 draft talk will begin in earnest.
-
Since Joe historically lays an egg vs the Bumgles - Leon Hall is a big nemesis along with pac man.- we have to run the damn ball down their throats and pass in key spots. If Joe slings it all around and we abandon the run, game over. And our D has to suffocate A Dalton all game. .
-
While we are at the CB scrap heap, is it worth kicking the tires on David Amerson- former 2nd rounder released by Skins. If we are after depth. Can't be any worse than what we have now, especially after making Derek Carr look like the second coming.
-
Exactly, it's almost time to start thinking of a contingency plan for this guy , at least for the season . This perennial empty cupboard of viable WRs really hamstrings this team and offense. I mean I'm watching this horrible New York jet Offense last night and at least they had the presence of mind to pick up a Brandon Marshall or at least some legitimate receiver off the market. Where's the veteran receiver who could have shown the young guys the ropes ? Was the AnlQuan Bolden experiment so bad that it will not be repeated again? Are we back to the Pre- Q days when the FO finally figured Joe needs toys around him? Last I checked, when Joe has legit toys he's pretty damn good.
-
Agreed. We will know much about the team after Oct 1 tilt vs Stealers. We will be sinking or swimming; but not treading water.
-
We are hanging precariously close to becoming irrelevant this season. If we go down Sunday, as most are predicting, we'll be 0-4 after Stealers game. Then the odds against us become astronomical. This team just needs to get out of this funk or whatever you call it and play balls to the walls on Sunday. Nuff said !!!!
