  1. I didn't say anything bad I guess I should have worded it differently how's this the ravens are gearing up to go deep which is what their rivals are best at stopping. Imo this is a mistake. Now I'm going to mention the Steelers here if you notice smith had I think one grab in both games combined due to this. The Bengals and Brown's are also decent at limiting big plays. If you want to cut me off go ahead whatever it's a message board I will survive. I like talking with most of you but I have other boards I'm on.

The blinders you've got on to think the Steelers are on the rise after the terrible off-season and lackluster play during last season are just what crack me up. I can take the trash talk if it's legitimate, but I'm picking the Steelers for 4th place in the division this year, not because of any bias, but you guys are falling apart.

It's done. Nice pick up. Awaiting $$$ value though. Interesting they gave up on McAdoo in the corresponding movie.

Smith graded as an 81 from ESPN Insider, tied with Barnet for the Best Available Linebacker left.

    Scouts Inc.

Smith has the size and speed to make plays all over the field and the instincts to make quick decisions when diagnosing plays. He is quick to locate the ball and pull the trigger as he steps up to make the play. He is consistently a high-level producer who gives the Jaguars a solid run defender and good cover linebacker. He shows route awareness and the ability to read the quarterback's eyes to get a jump on the ball. He will step up to take on blockers and does a good job using his hands to defeat and shed blocks.

  3. Totally agree that in terms of play we are actually going to see a step up this year. But very interested to see what happens without that leadership. There's a reason we were always near the top in the red-zone even when our yardage started going downhill. That was always the key and always will be.

  4. Iam, and lets not forget, mr Greed already got his payday with us, he didnt need another one like he got with Houston, or offer was right there with what he took.

Reed really had never made ridiculous money because FS's don't make much, especially in comparision to QB's. I have no problem with him taking some money elsewhere when he knows he's injury-prone and his play is downhill.

  5. FB9DAC5A54A4A0CE1B2574D0A0ED9C.jpg Yea....Joe only threw 11 TD's in the playoffs. 3 of them in the Super Bowl. Yea.... He was lucky.

We had it good before Flacco. Don't you just long for the 'good old days'?

Joe played great in the playoffs, but he wasn't god-like. The Denver game-winner was 100% luck and Boldin saved his ass when he threw into coverage a few times. I like Joe, but he just isn't worth what we are paying. Anyone who tries to claim he is worth that much is just being a homer in my honest opinion.

  6. So how much would you have paid him?

Given the contracts going out there I would have tried to get him around $15 per year. My hope is that Flacco progresses and eventually is worth his current contract, but I don't get it. We could've given him almost $20 on a 4 year deal and left ourselves less at risk. His new contract leaves ZERO possibility that he outplays it. Even if he catches fire, you don't pay QB's more than we just gave him.

Also, I'm happy they made it 'cap-friendly' in the first 3 years, and am completely aware of the cap ramifications of the deal. I have never been a hater just to be a hater. But the year 4 cap hit is almost $30 Million and leaves us with no leverage when we will have to renegotiate at that stage. I know QB's are the most important position and we'd been searching for a 'franchise' QB until Joe, but his play has been mediocre over the long run, he did nothing to earn a deal with the money he got.

  7. Yeah but with his leg issues and age there is no way he runs that anymore. Lmao watching classics Saturday night live and they just released ray Lewis on bond. Ok but like I was saying olinemen are getting stronger and stronger and they can move as well. It's harder to match up against them with strength and size anymore. You gotta go around them.

That's why we have 2 sack kings on the edges. Haters gonna hate.

  8.

Not sure about the old part but we don't have any other option right now other than a stopgap. Draft is gone and most of the better FA are gone.

Assuming someone will come in for $1 Million how is it possibly a waste of money when we are looking at starting a rookie and a guy coming off a season-ending spinal injury with zero depth behind them? One of the dumber things I've read on this board.

  9. More than 2.5 once McClains deal is off the books and remember we get another 2.5 after June 1 from Pollard. We'll pick up a vet then. Dansby only got 2.25, we should've pounced.

Barnett and Smith are better options but agreed that Spikes or Brookings wouldn't be bad. I could see us picking up Bart Scott even and everyone knows I still think Urlacher has it (the scouts agree). Lucky for us there are plenty of options out there so we might be able to get one of those guys for $1 Mil.

  10. Agreed he'll be back soon, which is why I'm confused as to why we aren't just cutting him. Anyone know what impact this will have on the cap? Usually when players retire you can still be responsible for parts of the contract (see us paying Ray and Birk this year)...

  11. It's early so nothing to worry about but this has a few interesting tidbits to me:

-Word was that McPhee was going to be transitioning to OLB earlier this offseason, after drafting Simon, I like the idea of keeping him at DE as seems to be the case here.

-Was expecting Williams at backup NT and Canty as the DT. I expect the line to be shifting all over but still interesting.

-Rolando penciled in as the starter. Don't like the see that, want to keep him motivated... Scratch that, get him SOME motivation at all.

-As a former Hoosier I love Tandon, but he has done nothing to deserve a starting spot, we need to bring somebody in before the season, fact.

    -Also, no Terrence Cody...
