  1. When you're playing playoff caliber teams, even an ugly win has lipstick on it. I don't care if they have ugly wins the rest of the season at this point.

Regarding Lamar: his passing is what it is. It's usually effective, but not as perfect as we would like. Still, he has tremendous mobility in the pocket to extend plays and it is definitely needed with the physical limitations our two tackles have. I don't think we would have won that game with a quarterback other than Lamar.

So it's on to SFO and here's hoping we can pull out a win somehow against what I consider the best team in the NFL. I don't think we win this one but I like our chances against Miami and Pittsburgh here at home.

Damned shame about Mitchell. We need him. Hope he can come back from this and not wind up like JK.

  2. Here's hoping the Ravens' D throttles the Jags rushing and the winds ground Lawerence's air game. Lamar is most effective at short and intermediate passing. If we get our ground game moving even a lttle, l ike our chances.

  3. Hey Crav how you doing??

I checked NOAA and they said rain should end by 8pm Sunday but winds will still be gusting up to 40 mph. That might benefit us as Lamar isn't too good about throwing bombs but does throw a mean mid-range pass.

  4. Yep, sure sounds like a mess...even windier than it was here. Won't be looking for any deep passing. Instead, they should concentrate on the ground game and short to medium range passing, relying on our WRs and on Keaton Mitchell to get YAC. I've got a positive vibe about this game for some unknown reason. We shall see if that pans out.

I hope they don't have to play Kyle Hamilton...we'll need him more for the 49'ers and Dolphins. But if he can go at full speed without danger of re-injury, that would be a big plus.

  5. All true, Varaven. Other than SFO there are no teams that you can be sure of winning week in and week out and even the 49'ers had a couple of down games several weeks ago. Parity is in full swing this year. Heaven help you if you have a superstar player go down with an injury.

So it's gonna be a bumpy ride for the rest of the season. I expect us to win the division but also lose 2-3 games (SFO, MIA, and maybe Jacksonville). The playoffs will be anybody's to take who can get hot. Maybe us, maybe not. We'll see.

One thing for sure is that it will be interesting!

  6. Well  it looks to me too that he's accurate on short to medium throws but that he just doesn't have it for throwing deep when receiver is running downfield. And I don't think it's correctable after all these seasons.

He's not a complete passer like Stafford and others are but his ability to extend plays helps, a little, to make up for it. I guess it's one of those situations where you've got to take the good with the bad.

And you're right...you can't stop calling them but they should be called just enough to keep the opposing defenses honest.

From here on out it is find a way to win each week. No more is it about best defense nor most potent offense, nor by margin of victory: to coin a phrase; just win baby.

Special teams has had its troubles this year, even in this game, but they came through when needed most.

You hit the nail on the head! There's no style points now until the Super Bowl.

yes, saw the Steelers game as well and their underachieving effort and the Pats rose to the occasion.  Hey, that’s todays NFL.

Unlike that game, the Rams are playing extremely well, have a terrific group of receivers and a Super Bowl winning QB.

in order for us to win, we will play at the top of our game - similar to effort vs the Lions and Seahawks.  If we do that, we can be successful tomorrow.  Less than that, Rams could pull out a victory.

Which Ravens team shows up ? I’m interested and excited to watch- hopefully the good guys show up and get the W 👍

Right. No doubt, the Rams are a good team, and we'll need a good effort in return to beat them. Weather will complicate matters, though to whose advantage is hard to say. Might be a nail biter.

When has he been a good motivator?

“I just think that credits the coaching staff here, the style that we are here, and I think it just goes to good leadership and just making everyone feel welcomed — welcomed to be themselves and not try to be anything that they’re not,” said linebacker Roquan Smith, who thrived as a midseason addition last year. “I feel like, if you express that to individuals — when they come in here, making sure that they know that they don’t have to try to act or be anything they don’t [want to be] — I think guys just are being themselves, and it makes them play like the best version of themselves.”

  10. I dunno...sometimes I think Harbs just looks kind of beaten down on the sidelines, at least from the shots the Networks use of him. He is 61 and has been at this for a long time. I just don't see the exuberance he showed just a few seasons ago. The man is an outstanding motivator though his knowledge of x's and o's is lacking. We'll see. Maybe they win that Super Bowl and he hangs it up.

That said, winning the SB is pretty far down the road right now. We''ll have our hands full over the next 5 games.

  11. Was reading online today, where it appears likely right now that both MacDonald and Monken will have head coaching jobs in the NFL after this season.

I wonder what the odds are that Harbs decides to hang it up and one of those two is Bisciotti's replacement coach.

In order for any of that to happen though, I think the Ravens have to finish as division champs and play well in the AFC Championship game. If we do another late season el foldo they both might have to remain here.

My guess is that both are gone elsewhere next year regardless and Harbs stays put.

  12. Well you know what the Grinch did in the end? He brought all the presents back to Hooville. I take that to mean they'll cough up the game to us in the second half.

Course. the wind and rain may have something to do with this game too.

  13. The Jaguars defense wasn't real impressive in the Cincy game.  Could be they had one of those 'off' days I was mentioning above. They didn't handle the Bengals backup QB who produced a monster game. Actually, Bethard was fairly impressive himself. Both defenses stunk as the score shows. Here's hoping our D holds up through the next 5 games! That's going to be key for us as well as having to have a decent run game to open up play action, etc.

Stanley really has me worried. He hasn't shown he can protect Lamar's blindside, what with all of Stanley's leg/ankle issues. I'm hoping the bye week has restored some of his previous ability, but I have serious doubts.

We need everybody to step up their game for the rest of the year and into January if we want to have a decent post-season run.

If the defense can hold together and if the O-line can give Lamar time to throw, we'll do alright. Like all the quarterbacks I've seen this year, if you give him time to throw, he can be deadly.

  14. I think what the season has shown so far is that it's very difficult for all the teams in the league to maintain unending consistency. We sure have but so have all the other contenders. No one team is 12-0 or even 11-1 this year. And a lot of 9-3 teams have just barely won or lost games they should have cruised through. The Ravens aren't much different than any other contender. They can come out and blow you away or just as easily barely escape with a win and a few losses thrown in. I don't think there are any exceptions. And all teams are struggling with injuries. There has been a disproportionate share of quarterback injuries this year, just as one example.

So, let's keep our fingers crossed that Lamar and all the other players on the team stay healthy for the stretch run.

It's going to be a bumpy ride and I don't think we'll know who's won what until at least the regular season is over.

Bumpy, exciting and at times frustrating!

  15. And then the Browns went down to the Rams in LA. Joe did well but couldn't save them and had a late game meltdown. Both the Steelers and Browns games showed that any team can lose to anybody in this league this year. And then the Chiefs lost to the below .500 Packers. I'll have to be a little more forgiving in the future when the Ravens don't crush somebody they ought to. Every team can have a bad game in the parity league.
