  1. Lamar's no dummy. Hopefully, he learns from the KC game and makes the appropriate adjustments next time. He's young yet. Elway, Manning and others were nearing the end of their careers when they finally won 'the big one'. And Dan Marino never did.

We probably won't have another shot at the big prize for a little while due to free agency and cap constraints, but I bet he improves and will be ready and even more hungry for a title next time the opportunity arises.

And, who knows? Maybe EDC has some more magic in his wand and can put together another contender sooner than we think.

  2. Well as you said he's still young. There's no doubt he sees the future as a pocket passer rather than a running quarterback.

He did screw it up in the KC game. Forgot about his running backs. Or maybe that was Monken. We don't really know.

  3. Yep...I really liked him too. He always seemed to be so happy to be playing. Well, at least until he lost the ball at the goal line. I'm hoping there is nothing to this, but past experience with other players makes me wary.

  4. I think they need offensive tackles---one to start and one to develop, and I don't think Voorhees is considered a tackle but more so a guard.

Video was interesting. Yep, we missed it by a smidge and the window won't be as open next year due to cap constraints.

We should be playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday.

  5. I'd like to see Clowney, Gus, and Agholor back. I think Stone is gone because there would be too much dead money if they let Williams go. They are apparently thinking about franchising Madebuike. Van Noy, though I love what he did for us, is probably gone too.

And somehow we have to fix the O-line. Drafting might be a solution there but we need several new bodies and I'm not sure we're picking high enough.

  6. What with 20+ free agent Ravens this year and limited cap space, just wanted to see if anybody had any input as to whom we should try to keep and those we should let go.

  7. I think you're right...we really don't know who is responsible for the mess-up regarding not running the ball, but by the second half there should have been an adjustment. I don't know if Lamar is so in love with the passing game that he would only call 6 rushing plays. Same goes for Monken. But for sure, someone should have made the necessary adjustments. We'll just never know for sure who that was, and that's a real kick in the ass.

  8. Three opinions:

    1) Don't understand why no reporter asked DeCosta, when he was discussing injured players, about Keaton Mitchell.

    2) The fact that the team and Mike McDonald are high on Zach Orr is reassuring...but Orr is an unknown quantity to me...I tend to think Roquan was/is responsible for the great linebacking we had.

    3) The fact that we failed to make offensive adjustments on offense to re-establish the running game last week, has to fall on Todd Monken. But, I still think he is a very good offensive coordinator for us. Maybe he learned a little bit.

  9. Thanks for posting.

All I can say is I have little idea what point Harbs was trying to make with the lack of rushing attempts. His claim that we got behind and had to pass doesn't quite sound right to me. We were only behind by 1 TD so I don't know why we didn't try and mix it up more. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

But he's right in one way: if Zay had not lost the ball at the one yard line and if Lamar hadn't thrown into triple coverage for the INT in the end zone, the outcome would have been different.

But if we had run more maybe we wouldn't have had those 2 pass plays blow up in our faces.

It also seemed to me that he threw Monken under the bus a little by saying the Chiefs had a better game plan than we did. Maybe that was justified. But that is an internal team thing that isn't visible to us on the outside.

I do have one prediction: next year, the last year of his contract, will be Harbs last year of coaching one way or another.

  10. Hmmm...well Washington just hired Dan Quinn to be their HC. I'm going to go out on a limb and hope they talked a bit with Roquan before promoting Orr.

I think Harbs (and maybe DeCosta) is having an end of season presser tomorrow, so maybe that will also shed some light on the DC choice.

  11. Well, just another kick in the gut after the loss to KC. MacDonald will be sorely missed. He's got a great defensive mind. I think it would be best for us to hire someone from within who worked closely with him. Maybe that would be Weaver or the DB coach. Forgot his name.

More kicks to come when we start losing players to free agency.

I think we're a ways from hitting bottom yet but headed in that direction.

I think Monken will stay. He's still the best OC we've ever had.

Ben Johnson turned down the Seahawks and Commandos, to stay with Detroit.

I hope Mike Mc does the same to stay here.

I hope so too but the Seahawks are going to give McD a live interview. I believe it might even be today. Keep your fingers crossed.

When did he go with instincts?  On the red flags?  What did he do?

Yeah if you want to measure up against the Vegas' and Chicagos sure we are better but that is not the measuring stick I want to be judged by.

Do we have a franchise QB?  We have a guy who throws the ball but his accuracy sucks and his instincts are bad.

I disagree. Harbs stopped going for the first-down on 4th all the time when it was under 3 yards to go based on the analytics and went with his own coaching judgement. And, yes we have a franchise qb---geez the guy is going to get his second MVP award in 5 years and he led this team awesomely through the middle to end of the season and against the Texans! Did he lose to Mahomes? Yes. He lost to the best quarterback in the league right now who's also a 2-time MVP. And he almost pulled it out until Flowers in his exuberance to score lost the ball on the 1 foot line.

You have such personal animosity to Harbaugh for reasons I can't fathom that it clouds your whole outlook on the Ravens. When they were winning big this year you were nowhere to be found. They lose a game and up you pop you to spew your dissension and demoralization.

I won't bother responding to this line of irrational hatred again.

When he fired Roman, Wink... 😉

And when he added Monken and MacDonald.

I didn't like Monken's game plan for the playoff game, but there's no doubt he improved this offense a lot from what it was in the past. I didn't like the way KC trucked on down the field on their opening TD drive, but MacDonald adjusted for the rest of the game.

Those 2 guys made a huge difference in the team this year.

And Harbaugh learned from his past mistake of relying too much on analytics and went with his coaching instincts more over the last half of the season.

This has been a very successful franchise due to Bisciotti, DaCosta(and Newsome), and Harbs for a long, long time. Few teams have had the success this franchise has enjoyed.

Now things are going to get difficult due to us having so many free agents and limits of our cap space. That doesn't negate what's been achieved here in the past.

This is when the real fans come out and support the team while they re-load. That doesn't mean we won't criticize a move here and there, but it's obvious this team will be back sooner rather than later.

We have a franchise qb on offense and a franchise leader on defense in Smith. Those are 2 good building blocks for the future.

It's easy to be on the bandwagon when they're going lights out, now we'll see how many can stand by during the re-tuning the team has to do.
