  1. Student debt is killing the young generation They graduate with at least $30,000 in debt. Start at the bottom of the earnings ladder...if they can find a job. They can't afford a car, apartment, food and utilities, so they go live with Mom and Dad rent free and try to pay back the loan. This hurts Mom and Dad financially....takes from what they could save for retirement....the ripple effect is huge. For the ones who can't pay back, it's an emotional nightmare.
  2. A decade ago, America committed trillions of dollars to bail out Wall Street banks, whose greed had cratered the economy. Now, it is time to commit a fraction of that to cancel the student debt that is crushing 45 million Americans and dragging down our economy. Let’s be clear: The younger generation was dealt an enormous blow by the Wall Street crash of 2008 and the Great Recession that followed. Millions of them saw their parents lose their jobs, homes, and life savings because of the greed, recklessness, and illegal behavior of a handful of financial executives. While those financial executives were rescued by the government, young people were told to lift themselves up by their own bootstraps—specifically, by getting a higher education. But as financial support from state governments declined, millions of them graduated college or dropped out of college with suffocating and oppressive debt. In the wealthiest country in human history, it does not have to be this way—and in fact, it was not this way for earlier generations. In 1944, as World War II was coming to an end, the U.S. government did the right thing and passed the G.I. Bill, which made free higher education available to all those who served in the Armed Forces. That act not only improved the financial well-being of the Greatest Generation, but it also laid the groundwork for the biggest expansion of the American middle class in modern history. A half-century ago, the cost of attending some of our best public colleges and universities was virtually free. And 40 years ago, the maximum federal Pell Grant paid for nearly 80% of tuition, fees, room, and board at a four-year public college. By contrast, today it costs over $21,000 a year to attend those same schools, and maximum Pell Grants cover only about 30% of those expenses. That means the average college senior graduates with over $30,000 in student debt—and more and more, this debt lasts a lifetime. Since 2004, the number of Americans 60 and over with student loan debt has more than quintupled—from 600,000 to 3.2 million—and tens of thousands of older borrowers have had their Social Security benefits seized by the government to pay for student loans. Not surprisingly, at a time when workers’ real wages have stagnated, this debt hits students from lower income and minority families the hardest. One 2013 study found that students from families making between $40,000 and $59,000 a year racked up $13,000 more debt than did those from wealthier families who make $150,000 or more a year. Meanwhile, upon graduating African Americans have about $7,400 more in student debt than white graduates do, and just four years after graduating, the debt gap widens to nearly $25,000. It is not merely immoral to doom an entire generation to endless educational debt—it is also bad for our economy. The Federal Reserve reported that in 2014 alone, student loan debt prevented 400,000 young Americans from purchasing homes. Karthik Krishnan, a professor at Northeastern University who specializes in student debt, told CNBC last year that people with $30,000 in student loan debt are 11% less likely to start businesses than are those without debt. “You do stand to see longer-term negative effects on people who can’t pay off their student loans,” Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told Congress in March 2018. “It hurts their credit rating; it impacts the entire half of their economic life.” Under our legislation to cancel all $1.6 trillion of student debt, the economy would get a boost of approximately $1 trillion over the next decade and up to 1.6 million new jobs would be created each year, according to a report from the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College. At the same time, millions of Americans would have the financial resources they need to buy new homes, buy new cars, or open up small businesses. Moving forward, our legislation will also make every public college and university, historically black college and university, trade school, and apprenticeship program in America tuition-free and debt-free, because we understand that education must be an economic right for all, not a privilege for the few. Of course, doing all of this will take resources—and that is where Wall Street comes in. We will pay for this initiative by imposing a tax on Wall Street speculators, similar to what exists in dozens of other advanced economies. Ten years ago, the working class bailed out Wall Street. Now, it’s Wall Street’s turn to pay them back. If we do not act boldly, our younger generation will have a lower standard of living than their parents and grandparents did. We cannot let that happen. It is time to end the absurdity of sentencing an entire generation—the millennial generation—to a lifetime of debt for the “crime” of doing the right thing: getting a college education. Wall Street will almost certainly fight us at every turn, as will the student loan servicers who make big profits off the status quo. But I am confident that if we stand together and build a grassroots movement, we can treat education the way we should: as an inalienable human right.
  3. Right now it's all talk, hype, guess work and speculation. Really, nobody knows if this Ravens offense is going to be powerful and explosive....most of those pieces are in place....or....average. Yet in the offseason one can dream and take heart in statements like this.......... He didn't even mention the TE's, Ingram and Hill. That's a scary load and too much for a defense to cover. Especially one that has to worry about Lamar. Well.....many of us are worrying about Lamar....
  4. Hogan released a statement Tuesday, saying, "Our administration will continue to fight for clean cars, healthy air, the Chesapeake Bay and the right of States to challenge federal environmental rollbacks."
  5. OMG! NO! NOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S HITTING TOO CLOSE TO HOME! Getting real now.
  6. I'll think about this. My thinking has been to vote for the person who can beat Trump and who comes as close as possible to the issues that I see that must be addressed. If I follow that line of thinking then I'll have to compromise. Whoever it is...They Have To Be Able To Beat Trump. That's my hangup right now.
  7. This article has it wrong. They'll be drafting at #32.
  8. OK...it works on my laptop. She was great. There's hope. With each candidate that steps up and talks about the real issues, the opportunity for America's consciousness to expand and be raised grows. If we elect the wrong person then there will be no future. 1 year until elections then 4 years of missing the boat. That's 5 years that we cannot afford to be stagnant. We'll pass the tipping point.
  9. Great 4th of July message..... "John Adams, the second president of the United States, said he hoped that on every July 4th, the citizens of this country would spend time “revisiting our First Principles.” What did he mean? And what are our First Principles? They are the following: All men (and women) are created equal; God gave all men (and women) inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; and Governments are instituted among men (and women) to secure those rights. What does it mean to revisit those principles? It means to allow ourselves to truly think about them—to emotionally and psychologically re-bond with them, and to consider how they apply to issues in our own time. If our First Principles become simply inscriptions on marble walls—written on parchment and protected behind glass, yet no longer inscribed on each generation's heart—then they lose their relevancy, their moral force. Principles become lifeless unless kept alive within us. In referring to the founding of our country, Abraham Lincoln said that our forefathers had "brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” He went on to say that the men who died in the Battle of Gettysburg had done so in order that “a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.” Yet is it not perishing now...? A government so corrupted by the influence of dark money that it does more to serve short-term profits for huge multinational corporations than it does to serve us—we the people—and the planet on which we live, is a "government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations.” And to that extent, we are no longer free. This July 4th, let us reclaim the revolutionary spirit of 1776 and rededicate ourselves to the principles on which we stand. It is time for our generation to rise to the defense of our freedom, just as others have done before us. It is not a time to complain, but to act. For this is our country and this is our time. Otherwise, as Lincoln’s words now echo through the ages, “We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.”
  10. .Survivability........... South East Asia is in deep shit..........
  11. I can't get the sound to work.
  12. So sad.... I will never forget that 44-41 comeback against the Seahawks....that was one amazing game.
  13. Fight fire with fire.... I like this quote..........
  14. It wasn't simply their hands. So many of the older ones had lost a step. Few had the will and tenacity of Steve Smith or Derick Mason. This years camp competitions should be extremely interesting.
  15. Nobody saw 2012 coming either. Morning coffee has me fired up. They couldn't stop the O last year...... with no passing attack. That is being implemented this year....loaded with studs. There is not one team in the NFL that the Ravens have no shot against. Not one. Will they win them all? No. There is Parity. Right now this is a 9-11 win roster. And they are motivated and hungry.
  16. He's going to surprise the league because he sees the whole filed and reads and reacts so fast. They will not be able to defend against him and all his options. Let defenses play to stop the run. There will be so many Ravens running in every direction, with speed size and power, that teams won't be able to keep up with it. You heard it hear first! He has 2 really really good TE's. An explosive running game. Backs out of the backfield who can catch and take it to the house. And a well balanced receiving corps (yes unproven) with size, speed and hands. All of Lamars targets have good hands.\ It will be migraine week for the DC's who have to go up against the Ravens.
  17. There's nothing wrong with having 2 good QB's. It's desirable and creates good competition. Both QB's benefit. Like DeCosta says, "Having two quarterbacks is essential in the NFL. There’s no faster way to ruin your season than to get your starting quarterback hurt and not having an effective backup quarterback. Your season is basically over at that point. We never want to be in that position again.” I feel bad for RG3 and the career setbacks that he's had. I respect the way he has handled himself and his situation here. If he continues to develop' then he'll get his shot to start somewhere. If RG3 started last year instead of Lamar then I don't think the Ravens would have won the division. As long as Lamar is healthy, then they need to start him every game. He needs the experience. He's on the development curve. This is his year to get the passing game down. By next year he could be a star QB. It would be really bad to blow his confidence.
  18. What I'm trying to say it that I'm looking for a candidate who will raise the consciousness of Americans. Raise the vibration in this country. We need a major shift across the board. Kennedy did that. Lincoln. Men like Martin Luther King. No more double talk side stepping the issues, cancer and possible demise that our country faces. We are running out of time. We need that person now.
  19. I didn't see the debate but I read that Williamson did not do too well. I hear Harris stole the show, which is fine with me because she basically sees the same important issues that Williamson sees. I'm going for the candidate who has the best chance to beat Trump and is in line with the values and policies that Williams proposes. It's early, but we really need somebody who is principled, strong and has the qualities and plan to lead this country and world out of it's biggest challenge. Time is running out. The Earth is rapidly changing and life in America as we know it will be gone in 50 years.
  20. Well....if you study the Learning Triangle.... DO NOT BELIEVE INFINITE CORNERS, BELIEVE THE LEARNING TRIANGLE! A MATHEMATICAL PROOF EXISTS, EXAMINE THIS YOU CORPORATE SLAVE DUMBYS: And if you've been on the internet absorbed in posting on football message boards as long as I have, then a transformation takes place.... The message is clear: THIS IS ALL TRUTH, ACCEPT THE LEARNING TRIANGLE NOW BEFORE THE US PRESIDENT CAN MAKE YOU A ZOMBY DUMBY!!! THIS IS NOT OF THE TRIANGLE, THIS IS OF COPPER
  21. That's because they "don't have knowledge of things they are not wanting you to know." "Fortunately, I do."
  22. The judges, prosecutors and jury let this man continue to drive drunk. Now he's killed someone. It's a similar scenario for people caught with guns, drugs or have a criminal history but get off with a wrist slap.
  23. The raid on the Ravens front office continues......... One of the reasons the Eagles suddenly came up with so much talent is they raided the Ravens front office of scouts and talent evaluators. Now Joe Douglas has moved to the Jets and is raiding again.... It's a copy cat league. Formulas for success are duplicated and if they can't be duplicated, then 'acquired'. Quality people are hard to find and harder to replace in any business. It weakens the Ravens.
  24. OMG! Leave it to Preston to bring up the unthinkable "Hell Scenario"............
