  1. Good Point. Behind it is the glaring lack of a pass rush and QB pressure that is a major team issue right now. Nobody knows if Suggs and Dumervil can get it done this season. BTW: Dumervil gave his all last year. No quit in that dude.
  2. I 'm with you all the way on this. My listening to radio and watching ESPN has plummeted. It is mind boggling the hours and hours....all day coverage.just on the NFL.And it's the off season! Nobody's playing! It gets boring as hell watching these guys make things up to talk about. I'm a die hard Ravens fan. Last year when they had 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier players on the field I was pulling for them. I was interested in seeing who might develop into a starter. Now...the overall product and team performance had me wondering more than once if it was worth spending all that money to go to games. I work so hard all week that it's great to be able to go to a place and scream for 3 hours and not get locked up! So I keep renewing my tickets.
  3. Bottom line....and I love the Ravens.... They only won 5 games. Pretty pathetic. What's that saying???? Putting lipstick on a pig.
  4. Damn! Now they are getting these athletes on video and leaking it out. But then again....you have to be a Raven...like Ray Rice. Too bad they didn't show Le'veon Bell stoned. Suggs is really wrong and stupid. He needs to be suspended.
  5. I haven't bothered to go to training camp since they left Westminster. Mainly because of the hassle. You have to park in one lot and get on a shuttle bus to get to the field. I loved rubbing elbows with "Joe Fan" at Westminster. I'd make half a dozen practices there every year at least. Me, crav, Dee, RM52, Captain D, cleetz... ...tons of great fans and great to hang out with them. The over commercialism of the NFL is rapidly turning me off. Any way to get into your pocket. The game is secondary.
  6. Ticket prices, concession prices and shoddy baseball skills from multi millionaires had me feeling like I had a sign on me that said, "SUCKER". And I love the game. Many years....decades.... I either watched or listened to maybe all but 5 O's games a year. That ruined me. I saw players with excellent fielding and pitching skills. Now players can make several million a season and not know which base to throw to, flub simple grounders, get caught off base, drop fly balls and strike out. Sadly....NFL football is heading in the same direction.
  7. It all adds up to Winning Football. I certainly enjoyed that and this ride with Flacco and Harbs.
  8. I understand the Canty release due to age. He was a stand up guy....good character guy and good for the rotation. He had a great attitude and gave his al,l but like all players, Father Time catches up. It's time to get younger, faster, and stronger. Smith also was a consummate professional and solid presence on the field. He was a very good LB, tackler and field general. When the Ravens signed him he was a very valuable veteran presence that the unit needed with the loss of Ray and Ed. Canty helped in this respect too. I don't see the Ravens signing KO. That would be too much money in the O line unless they pay him as a LT and he performs well there. I see this as a very long shot. Upshaw is an enigma. Teams can't run his way. He's nasty and I like that...... but he can't get to the QB. They need a player who can do both. They might bring Upshaw back if the market is soft for him.
  9. Last seasons taste of 2nd tier QB's starting for the Ravens was enough for me to feel good about locking Joe up. I don't need anymore of that.
  10. Joe's close to being a Raven for life. You can't get to and win a Super Bowl in today's NFL without a QB like him. I was thinking about this today. Let's go back 60 years. That is a long time. Baltimore has had only 2 really good QB's in Unitas and Bert Jones. Joe is #3. There were others who were fun to watch, but they were not going to get you there. The point for me is....I don't want to lose him. It could be 20 years before another QB is in Baltimore that teams have to fear and respect. Now we have a 6 year window. I'll take it.
  11. per capita....in the nation.... It should be declared a national disaster area.
  12. Other than the Tucker Tag.... and please! The Trent Richardson talk....it burns my ears....there's no hunt in that dog....no RAVEN.
  13. This is a good move by the Ravens. Now that he's got a taste of what top 5 money is like, the Ravens will offer him a deal in the top 5. Nerves set in at this point..."What if I get injured this year?" What if I loose some leg strength....my percentage drops...my wife might dump me!... " Let him go round and round with that in his head for the next month, then he'll wise up and take the guaranteed money.
  14. Love it. You're right on.... The tone is set in the trenches and the game is won in the trenches. Both Ravens SB teams had big nasty lines.
  15. Great idea! Redcoats vs the Patriots!
  16. Right now their identity is... "Soft".
  17. The NFL now has something serious to consider since they are all about money and expanding overseas....
  18. Get an Identity. They have none at the moment. "Play Like a Raven" is a dream fading from memory.
  19. Thanks for the article oldno82. Surprising that Eisenberg put that up considering he writes for the Ravens. I like his material. Way back when this deal was done all of us were scratching our heads. To me it looked like the Ravens would hit a point where they were forced to get rid of Joe.....or....this deal would kill the team along with some front office heads. Joe wants to be a Raven. Well...he's going to have to pay a lot to be one. He's going to have to give up a lot of money. I don't know of an athlete who gave up the amount of money that Joe is faced with for the Ravens to field a competitive team. He'd be a first and the players union would certainly frown on it. Other players too. Bad Cap management here. Everybody's sitting in an uncomfortable and bad seat.
  20. And they got nothing on the Ray Rice deal. Conclusion: Sorry. Bad CAP management. You can't pay a guy free agent super star money when they are not that.
  21. Do you think the young Manning had an arse beard in those days?
  22. Every team has a "Dennis Pita deal"....it's a cap killer. Leon Searcy. Not as big money, but that hurt. Looks like Torry misses Joe.
  23. They need to get the facts straight. Manning didn't moon her. He did a Full Constellation.
  24. Lance Manning.....the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Good perspective here.... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14778342/reaction-peyton-manning-allegations-cam-newton-press-conference-nfl and here.... http://espn.go.com/espnw/voices/article/14778120/sarah-spain-said-peyton-manning-sexual-assault-allegations
  25. Good choices. Haven't made my mind up yet as far as trading back to get more picks in the 1st and 2nd round.
