  1. There is Freedom of the Press as long as the Press isn't addicted to money.
  2. So is Flacco, Brady, Manning...every QB in the NFL is mobile...they can all rollout to their right or left and move around in the pocket......but they are not runners like Wilson, Krapernick, RGIII, Vick who are a threat to run because it's part of their game. They consistently run the ball down field every game. We're using the wrong word here. In the past fans called them scrambling QB's and that's what I assumed we were talking about here. The difference is most QB's use their mobility throw the ball and if nobody is open then most of the time they throw it away. The scrambling QB will run if downfield nobody is open. Scrambling QB rushing stats are generally 10 times higher than the rest of the QB's in the league....including gropers like Ben.
  3. The "mobile" guys can get you to the playoffs. That's the tease. Then they run into the good defenses.
  4. What? You like this one better?
  5. "I concur."
  6. Surrendering 16 points per game for the Ravens D is achievable....that's around their average the last 10 years. So your 17 point theory is damn close. Now...every game is not mathematically perfect. 16 points surrendered is an average. Scoring 17 is an average so there will be games when the O has to score more because the D gave up more. This has always been the winning formula for obvious reason. The team that scores the most points wins. The team that surrenders the least points wins the game. So the goal is to get your offense and defense to that level...to that zone where they work in tandem to have this winning balance in points scored and surrendered. The Ravens are damn good at it. And so is Joe Flacco. He understands and does not just sling the ball anywhere. He'll take lower fantasy stats to get wins.
  7. Harbaugh said nobody works harder than Michael. I love the guy. He's a Raven and he'd be an All Pro RT if they hadn't moved him around so much out of necessity. High character man with a great heart filled with gratitude. He gives back and really cares.
  8. It was some huge D lineman. He hit him with his fore arm and belly and Broadway Schmo went flying.
  9. OK...cuts begin today. Probably because they are on a weekly Thursday schedule. Here's the list....
  10. They're calling for Rex's head. I saw this on NFL combo last night and couldn't believe Rex put Broadway Schmo in the game in the 4th quarter behind 2nd and 3rd string players. Not after how horrid Smith played because that guy is LOST. You put in Simms. Make him the sacrificial lamb. What we saw was exactly why every HC in the NFL yanks their starting QB when the 2nd string takes the field. They will not risk losing their QB's in a pre season game.
  11. "Why does this thread remind me of this thread?" http://forums.extremeravens.com/topic/8387-thank-god-ben-will-be-back-next-week/
  12. We are heading towards the final pre season game and reality is setting in. It's cold, but this is what competition for jobs is all about. Ozzie obtained the best players and athletes that he could find to compete and help make the final 53 man roster the best 2013 Ravens team it can be. Everybody is pushing everybody to be better. The players who don't make the final 53 man roster deserve respect....and understanding. They won't be in uniform this season but they were needed and helped to develop the roster. For a large portion of their life, winning a job on an NFL roster has been their dream. Starting Tuesday, for many players, their dream will end. No more football and they'll be off to the salt mines every Monday morning like the rest of us. Right now they have that weight and anxiety on their shoulders and are gearing up to show their best Thursday night, knowing it may be the last time that they put on the pads. They can at least have the satisfaction that they made it this far as they run out of the tunnel Thursday night. Few get to do that. "May you live long and prosper."
  13. I like your suggestion cleetz....stash Mellette on the PC. I don't think any NFL teams that will go after a guy from Elon. Then they definitely can keep Williams. There's something about Williams....he's driven...on a mission...maybe over achieving but his heart is in being a playmaking Raven. He wants to contribute like Torry.
  14. Andy Dalton in the playoffs.
  15. All the Catonsville shooting were with a quarter mile of my house. You're right Dee...it's not safe anywhere. My kids stay in weekend nights and have their friends come over. Not by my rule but they know what goes on at night.
  16. First he says he never understood what Ray was saying and now he doesn't buy Ray's house! What an insult!
  17. The Ravens will probably have 6 WR's on their active roster to start the season. Which 6 do you keep? This is a hard call for me. Smith, Jones, Stokley, Mellette, Brown, Thompson I don't care where they played, the Ravens need somebody...anybody to catch the ball so Brown and Mellette survive my cut. Joe has something going with Brown, who at 6'5' makes for a nice target. 44 TD's in college so the end zone is not unfamiliar territory for him. Keeping Mellette only because he made some nice catches. Thompson...keeping on past performance, potential and hi's been here a couple of years....can't be totally raw with the back ups. I'm a big Laquan Williams fan...and he does make plays on ST. I think he's a gamer so I don't know how to keep him on the roster. The #6 WR may not be on the Ravens roster yet. Ozzie might make a trade or grab somebody on Tuesdays cuts.

    hmmmm a bit odd

He's having a senior life crisis.
  19. The Steelers did not get deeper. They just have more runners who are not legit.

    Week 3

The Ravens will field a solid team opening day but last night was sloppy. You can see why teams need these preseason games because they are just not ready this early. Look at all the games played week 3. Sloppy. If Goodell has his way, we'll be forced to accept what currently is week 3 preseason games as week 1 opening day games. The thought is retching. Unacceptable. Joe had a good rhythm with Derrick Mason who was not a deep threat but a great chain mover. I see him doing the same with Stokely. O line was the downfall of the offense. Once Reid came in, it went south in a hurry.
  21. Very good article. It's important to make the point that the media down plays every accomplishment he makes. He's not a fantasy football player. He's a proven winner that plays within the team concept....the team winning formula. He doesn't blow games trying to win it all on his own shoulders. He's not a selfish player. He's not a " hey everybody look at me!" guy. He doesn't create drama. The media has their darlings. QB's they want to promote and who feed into that with them. Nice guys don't sell.
  22. He's absolutely correct.
  23. but he got Blindsided.... http://omg.yahoo.com/video/blindsided-bryant-mckinnie-ray-rice-230000702.html
