I think we'll look back on this season after it's over and see that the Super Bowl winner made all the right moves during this insane period of free agency that is about to happen. The Ravens look very solid at this moment before Free Agency...they are in position to field a very strong team. They have the same handicap as the others: The rookies will be very raw due to no mini camps. The ones who develop fast will have an edge. Players like the Smith's may transition or transition slowly...don't know what kind of impact they will make yet. It's "Iffy"" The key for the Ravens will be Joe and the passing attack. He has to get that playoff monkey off his back and come through in the big playoff games or once again they will be in the playoffs but not get to the Super Bowl. All that said, I consider the Ravens viable Super Bowl contenders when I look at the rest of the league. Not locks, but contenders.

Update: After months of no information or news to follow, that mountain of news is going to be compacted into days. Information overload! Some of the landscape of the NFL is going to be changed. The talent poor teams have a window to make some good/great improvements if they can convince players to play for them which is a very hard thing to do. I'll have my car radio and Sirius satelite radio going with me all week to keep up with everything.

It's going to move fast and furious...I hear camp and Free Agency start the same day...Friday. Teams will be wheeling and dealing at a high rate of speed. The smart ones...the prepared ones, could make huge strides.

If they rape the fans over the next few years they will go the route of baseball...they better get this fan friendly first. That means a serious cap on themselves to stop spending from getting out of control so we don't have to foot that bill. That means no 18 games. That means no expansion. I refuse to pay to see millionaires who can't hit and field in baseball. I won't pay to watch millionaires who can't run, block, catch and tackle.

I was fortunate to watch him for his whole career...yea...I'm old... ...1st row of the upper deck on the 40 yard line at the Worlds Largest Outdoor Insane Asylum. John revolutionized the TE position. Incredible athelete. A great man...kind and generous...it's so sad how he spent his final years. I hope this new NFL agreement takes care of their retired players because John never got back from the game what he put into it.
