I thought the same thing varav.... but the Bills came out crowding the box to stop the run...so Cam threw. You want that senario as an OC. You can make them pay when you have a QB like Joe and great receivers....but Joe opened cold or it would have been 14-0 Ravens. Joe missed wide open men downfield. Something is not the same with Rice but maybe it's the line too. Chester isn't close to being the guard Yanda is and that hurts. Yanda would pull and get to the second level. Also I really think sitting Rice all pre season and not running the ball set this team back. It might have worked for Tomlinson but Cam doesn't have LT.

Here's what "Gone are the days..." means to me. For the last 10 years I could look at the schedule and feel comfortable thinking there wasn't an opponent the Ravens couldn't "hang" with. Because the D was generally so good they had the chance to be competetive in every game. That means they had a realistic chance to win. Now I know they can't/couldn't win every game but they could stay in the hunt. Can't say that now. Knowing opponents can score at will on them is the worst kind of football for this fan to watch. I cannot get '96 and '97 out of my mind. It's burned in. Watching the ax slowly come down on your head. Watching the leads that the offense builds, given away. It won't get fixed until Ozzie gets some players who can pressure the QB and at least 1 'shut down' corner...a true #1 corner. Nothing changed for the Ravens D until they got McAlister.

I don't want to pound on Cam...down 17-3...24-10... you don't get back into many games running the ball, but take note of what his former assistant did yesterday... The Ravens could have had a 300 yard day running.

Team identity? They look very close to the '96 Ravens only they have been finding ways to win.... so far.

Replaced by an arm flailing Kruger. I watched him and Jarrett Johnson futilely trying to rush the QB...because Suggs was losing the battle on his no name defender.

This 2010 Ravens team is... 1. Sloppy. I hate sloppy football. Todays performance...the Bengals game...Piss poor tackling...fumbles...INT's...the return men wander around lost and hesitant..they let opponents stay in the game...choke when they can deliver the killing blow...at least the penalty situation is better. 2. Naked. It's over. After today, if the word wasn't out, it is now. Not only can you run on the Ravens (16th), but please have fun throwing it too. 374 yards for Fitzpatrick. Webb is clearly a step slower. He can't cover like last year. Wilson is a tad slow too. Landry forgot how to tackle. Washington can be beat too and the Ravens can't apply pressure. This defense is naked. "I don't want him!" "Me neither!" 3. No Identity. They don't do anything very well. Just enough to fortunately be 5-2...and believe me I'm real happy with that, but very concerned about many things. Concerned because I don't see them as a Super Bowl contender. Optimistic because you can see they need this break to rest, recoup and regroup. The bye is just in time. The talent is there to come out better but they have to get it together and determine how they intend to go about winning games. Then stick with it and do it well.
