The Ravens have a big opportunity to hurt the Bengals today with a win. That would place the Bengals at 0-2 with a divisional loss and a conference loss....2 games behind the Ravens in the AFC North. It would end a streak of being "owned by Palmer and the Bengals"...big psychological hurdle and lift. They would at least be tied with the Stealers if the Stealers win. A Stealer loss would put them a game behind with a Conference loss and the Ravens would have sole possesion of the AFC North. A Ravens loss continues Bengals 'ownership', boosts their confidence, and has them tied with the Ravens in first place (if Stealers lose)....owning the tie breaker.

I always enjoy reading Kevin Byrne's weekly Ravens 'Inside' commentary. This was on Ray's press conference and speech to the team last week and it's impact. This is why I gave Ray a game ball (well...I didn't actually hand him one...you know what I mean... ) and we're proud to be Ravens fans Kevin! This is the kind of stuff that can set the tone for the defense for this whole season. Watch their technique and discipline dominate.

Defensive line play is the key. They have to be hitting and pressuring the shit out of Palmer. He's a 41% completion QB when under solid pressure. He has no fear of the Ravens. That is his strength. It's happening more and more. Other teams (like the Bengals, Jags ect) are comming real close to this. HD TV and big screens have something to do with this. The economy is squeezing fans into thinking "Should I pay $100 for a seat or sit at home in my comfortable Man Cave?" Me? It's a beautiful purging to be able to yell my face off legally for 3 hours. The 100 hours of my boss and darling teenage children nagging me all week gets burned off and somehow... I love them once again. Therapy would cost at least $100 an hour, but I don't need it as long as I renew my tickets. It would suck so bad if we couldn't see the Ravens on TV Sunday! Think of it...radio...that's all you'd have without NFL Sunday Ticket.

He can improve on his pocket presence and release the ball quicker. I think he'll be able to do that this year. He's better than he was last year. Now certainly the receivers he has play into this, but Joe is throwing more to the middle of the field. He wasn't passing to his check downs Monday night. He read the field and went for the 1 on 1 matchups...with confidence. Against a very solid secondary...last years #1 D. And....he killed them on 3rd down. 3rd down conversion percentage is a key stat that you will see in great offenses. Hey...Joe pulled the trigger. He will murder any defense who can't pressure and harass him this year. He will be an Elite QB. I can see that comming.
