  1. Here's hoping that the Ravens get down to business and kick some Patriots ass today.

I hope that Joe saw Sanchez burn the Bengals stacked box and does the same today against a weak Pats secondary.

Here's hoping that the Ravens play smart and don't commit the costly penalties and turnovers.

Here's hoping The Ravens pass defense has their best game of the year. I'm talking about the pass rush and coverage...it will take a great 11 man effort but they can do it.

Finally, here's hoping the Ravens have good success running. They should.

I like the matchup...the Ravens have a very good chance to end the Pats season today.

  2. The stat I care about is points allowed and the D is #3 in that.

I think the D can be better next year and they are the weak link as far as age and turnover. Reed and Pryce may be gone. Ray will be 1 year older and even he can't beat Father Time. Guys like Kruger, Ellerbe, Barnes, are getting valuable PT. Suggs should be bback healthy...and better. Don't forget Ayambadejo and Nakamura will be back

Then there's the draft and FA to bring in a gem or two...Ozzie will find them...Maybe a safety like Areanas.

The D needs to get younger so it can play faster so turnover in 2010 is necessary.

Yet Webb will be back and Foxworth has settled down and played well. It's Revis who makes the Jets D work. He shuts down one side of the field so they can bring pressure from anywhere. You need solid corners or your D is limited. The Ravens can have that next year. So they can blitz more....use more schemes....more looks.

Also...Mattesons second year with these guys....that will pay off. He's done a great job to have these guys at #3 given the injuries and loss of personel.

The offense will be better and that will help the D.

This should be a soild team next year.

  3. When do we find out who's officiating this game?

STERATORE TO REF: One of the relatively newer officials in the league, Gene Steratore, has been assigned to referee the Ravens-Patriots wild-card game.

Steratore, a former Big East Conference referee, landed an NFL job in 2003 as a field judge and was promoted to referee three years later in the wake of the retirements of Bernie Kukar and Tom White, the ref known for his pronounciation of our town as "Baldy-more".

Currently, Steratore still officiates top-level college basketball games along with his NFL duties. His father, Gene Sr., was also a college basketball and football official.

This season, Steratore and his crew -- which includes his brother, back judge Tony Steratore -- worked the Ravens' home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Ravens were called for eight penalties for 65 yards in that game. They didn't put away the Chiefs until late in the contest, 38-24.

Both Steratore brothers were at the Ravens' training camp several years ago to work some of the practices and to conduct the annual rule-change seminars for players and media.

  4. :D

A dumb blonde was standing in front of a soda machine outside of a local store. After putting in sixty cents, a root beer pops out of the machine. She set it on the ground, puts sixty more cents into the machine, and pushes another button; suddenly, a coke comes out the machine!

She continued to do this until a man waiting to use the machine became impatient. "Excuse me, can I get my soda and then you can go back to whatever stupid thing you are doing?"

The blonde turns around and says, "Yeah right! I'm not giving up this machine while I'm still winning!"

    redneck_airlines.jpg

A blonde gets on an airplane and sits down in the first class section of the plane. The stewardess rushes over to her and tells her she must move to coach because she doesn't have a first class ticket. The blonde replies, "I'm blonde, I'm smart, I have a good job, and I'm staying in first class until we reach Jamaica."

The disgusted stewardess gets the head stewardess who asks the blonde to leave. The blonde yet again repeats "I'm blonde, I'm smart, I have a good job and I'm staying in first class until we reach Jamaica." The head stewardesses doesn't even know what to do at this point because they still have to get the rest of the passengers seated to take off; the blode is causing a problem with boarding now, so the stewardess gets the copilot.

The copilot goes up to the blonde and whispers in her ear. She immediately gets up and goes to her seat in the coach section. The head stewardess asks the copilot in amazement what he said to get her to move to her correct seat. The copilot replies, "I told her the front half of the airplane wasn't going to Jamaica."

  5. ExtremeRavens Update:

Viv reports that at the opening minutes of Ravens practice that the media is allowed to see, Ravens QB Joe Flacco was seen hobbling around, stiff, and with a slight limp. He believes it's the hip and lower leg injuries that have slowed Joe down this season and that we'll never know how hurt Joe has been while playing this year. He said that maybe Joe wasn't warmed up yet.

Bottom line: Joe's beat up... but so is everybody else this time of year. We should be aware that Joe's mobility is limited. He's going to be slower setting up from the snap from center...slower to set his hips, slower to move around the pocket and escape the rush.

"I haven't seen Clayton all day...anybody know where he is?"

  6. Very interesting....

Even in only five plays, McCoy told his father he'd seen enough to know the game's outcome would have been different if he'd stayed on the field.

Said Brad McCoy, who coached his son at Jim Ned High School in tiny Tuscola, Texas: "He looked up at me and said, 'Dad, I had 'em. I had 'em. I knew everything they were doing before they did it. I was fixin' to complete every pass I was going to throw tonight.'"

  7. So she's still robbing....and whoever is in power, (however many), that is allowing her to collect that pension, is also guilty of stealing.

I'm so pissed at hearing this but..whatever...Sheila is not alone...most of them steal and abuse their power.

  8. QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Defensive linemen Trevor Pryce always has a rather blunt way of getting his point across. When asked about the defense and its approach to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Pryce opined:

"(If) you take your aggression away, you take away the way you play the game. And if you take away the way you play the game, what are we?

    We're the Lions."

The Ravens can't change the way they play at this point of the season so they might as well go all out...intelligently of course.

  9. Don Banks on the Ravens chances...

As well as the Ravens are running the ball with Ray Rice and a re-energized Willis McGahee, the key to winning in Foxboro this week will be jumping out to a decent lead on the strength of the Joe Flacco-led passing game. If Baltimore can throw some early points on the board, it may well take the crowd out of the game and throw the Patriots defense on its heels. Then Baltimore can pound away with its two-headed running attack and take some chances on defense with the banged up Tom Brady forced to throw more than he would like. It wouldn't be shocking for the Ravens to pull the upset in New England, but they've got to dictate the way the game unfolds.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/don_banks/01/06/playoff.power.rankings/index.html

He also thinks the Pats will stay at a 50/50 run/pass ratio like the 1st meeting this year...spread the ball to minimize Welkers absence.

LOL...Ray Lewis during his conference call with the Pats media...

On if he thinks this is one of his final playoff runs, Lewis in his typically philosophical self said, “I totally disagree with that. Men and women lie. Numbers don’t. We’re still the No. 2, No. 3 defense in the league.”
  10. Great message to send to the NFL. When they wonder why Free Agents refuse to go there...this is one of the reasons why.

....this situation has gone from cordial to awful.

Agent Peter Schaffer said Cribbs is being low-balled by the team and both are extremely upset about it. Cribbs made $900,000 this past season, and the Browns offered to raise his salary to $1.4 million over the final three years of his contract.

"Not only is it insulting, but it's illogical," Schaffer said of Cleveland's offer.

Cribbs said this via Twitter: "Thanks everyone, I love playing for the browns & put my all in to it, but it doesn't look good 4me at this point on returning."

  11. Very true dee..I should "consider the source" when listening to them..Especially that Vince from Catonsville!!!

    Hey wheres the quote button??

I love that guy! His keen wit and sparkling personality light up the airwaves...plus he has knowledge of Ravens things they are not wanting you to know.

  12. Good! He deserves that.

    23456338572180-03191237.jpg

Willis is hot...they should play him more on Sunday but give Ray Rice at least 20 touches...he was killing the Pats averaging 9.4 yards per rush and 9.8 per pass. They are too old and slow to handle him.

BTW...I want Willis back next year...because I remember 2001 when Jamal went down...Bookins, Terry Allen...let's not go through that again.

  13. lol at Foxworth...

"I will like to officially say it is possible on occasion to beat the New England Patriots in the postseason," said cornerback Domonique Foxworth, who pointed out that he beat New England in the playoffs as a member of the Denver Broncos before planting his tongue firmly against his cheek. "We hope to possibly, maybe step on the field with them and put up a fight if possible."
  14. It should be a hell'ov a game. The Ravens will show up and this is a close to even matchup.

I say 'close' because the Pats don't lose at home and neither does Brady in the playoffs...factor in Bellichek and that makes it 'close' with the Ravens on the short end. They have never beaten the Pats.

The Ravens are fired up to win and put a stop to the above trend.
