Seriously...it's hard to get excited about themm...no...it's impossible. This year I gave away the Lions game and watch!.... the Lions will be a better team than the Browns. Fortunately I was there for Jamal's record breaking game...I called his 1st TD(about 82 yards) in that game when I saw the teams line up..the hole was huge...and that ball hadn't been snapped yet! Jamal ran over that franchise soooo bad that they were shell shocked and had to sign him. All they saw was 2003...not what he had become... He may not play Sunday (hamstring/thigh/ but he didn't do much last year against the Ravens...Jamal Lewis rushed 12 times for 56 yards in the first Ravens/Browns meeting. It was 19 attempts for 49 yards the second time.(from Ravens website) It's a divisional game and both teams are familiar with each other...they will "come to Play"...whatever their definition of "playing" is....the Browns do play the Ravens tough, so who knows...maybe it will be a fun game. I want to see the secondary get their act together. I think Quin has been sacked 9 times...let's see the D sack him 9 times on Sunday. The Browns have scored what???.....1 TD in the last 33 quarters???? They have the worst offense in the AFC but... they have Brady Quinn! If the Ravens D let's them score 2-3 TD's, then we're in for a long season folks. It's over.

Just got home...it does get too quiet. Nasty flu bug floating around.... Can't believe ESPN has their "Vick will start watch" beginning already. "Do you think he will start?" "NO Shitforbrains!!!!!!!" See...when nobody is here you can talk to yourself...it's easy... I want to see LJ Smith on the field earning his paycheck. Now ESPN is covering Favre...I guess T.O is next...they already did Brady...that makes them go to bed at night thinking they covered the NFL. Talk about the same 5 or 6 players everyday...for 17+ weeks...

Solid point. Worrisome too. Bad corner play is one of the worst curses a good team can have...the points can be piled up on you fast and furiously. 4th quarter leads disappear in the blink of an eye...we know...we saw thw '96 and '97 Ravens. Remember Dwayne Starks?...not the biggest guy...it took him time to develop but he learned his role well. Depth at corner is a concern too. I hear Rolle won't take the field unless he thinks it's safge for him to play. He faces paralysis if the doctors are wrong. Bottom line...there is way too much talent on this defense. They should be able to make any adjustments they need to.

2 more thoughts... We might be seeing a shift in the balance of power in the AFC too...Pats and Colts suddenly not as scary and the Jets are on the rise. Big win for Texans over Titans. Again...I know how premature this is....just something to keep an eye on. 7 for 7. In 2 games the Ravens were in the redzone 7 times and have 7 TD's. That still hasn't sunk in. Too many years of Billick being conservative in the redzone so he could send out Matt had me believing field goals were acceptable..."Don't take a risk! Might turn it over!" Damn it's great having an offense that can score touchdowns!

Get ready Dee...the Browns are comming to town and you know what he's going to post.

In some ways the win was ugly...but so were many of the 2000 wins. This has me taking stock on what I see now and what may be... Certainly it's way to early in the 16 game schedule but things are taking shape in the Ravens favor. With the Steelers loss the Ravens sit on top of the division. I like the Ravens chances of beating the Browns at home next week. I like the possibilities of the Steelers losing to the Bengals next week. If that comes to pass then a 2 game divisional lead would be huge for the 2009 Ravens. I also like the Ravens chances vs the Bengals who are not in the Chargers league despite an improved defense...but the Bengals are a good team folks. The Ravens could finish #1 in the division and the Bengals 2. The Ravens could be 5-1 or 6-0 at the bye now that they have a solid, balanced and respectable offense.

Let's give the "Fall On Your Sword" Ball to Norv Turner for calling a run play on their final offensive play. Any jump ball probably had an 80% chance of scoring. Joe should get something...he made some great throws and never lost his cool in a shootout. I can't stand the dancing from Washington but he can do it all year as long as he keeps making the plays he's been making. Who was the last #3 receiver to do in 16 games what he's done in 2 games? I can't think of one until I get to Jermaine Lewis.

That group is going to be special...I never worried about the Ravens ability to run the ball or for Joe to have time to throw.

Rex got clobbered last time his D played the Chargers. It was just big, great playmakers making plays on our smaller guys....and a great QB throwing to them...sort of like the Colts in their heyday and Rex couldn't stop them. Yesa...there are holes...the secondary got exposed and teams will attack them there...time to get better. When it counted...in the redzone... the D forced 3's and that enabled the team to win on the road where few visiting teams do. So, yeah BallT...Mattison has some work to do.

1st place in the AFC North....offense is terrific...defense got exposed...got their pants pulled down. Nevertheless...style points don't matter...it's a 2009 'W' in the Official NFL Record Book.

My brother said during the game that "the Ravens let you think that you're actually going to win the game and then they rip your heart out". They just did that to San Diego and their fans.
