Hopefully Zorn will be able to help Tebow with his dropbacks too, just in case Flacco does reaggravate his injury next year.

Just once, I'd like to see a team negotiate in the press. What would that look like? Ozzie to Mike Preston: "Tell Troy that if he wants a trade, he'd better find a team that's willing to give up a 3rd and a 5th rounder. Troy to Ken Murray: "See if Ozzie would take a 3rd this year and a conditional pick in 2011. Ozzie: "Have Cleveland throw in the rights to Mike Furrey and we have a deal."
-
I know; I wasn't referring to what you said, just thinking a bit about how our offense would fare if we instituted some features of the WCO into it. I have to assume that Zorn is going to have some influence on our offensive philosophy.
-
So what you're saying is that our #2 quarterback isn't even good enough to stay in the NFL for another season? That doesn't say much for our front office and coaching staff... You're in rare form today.
-
What do the Packers and Vikings use? As for the West Coach Offense... "The West Coast offense requires sure-handed receivers who are comfortable catching in heavy traffic..." Let me stop you right there.
-
What's the most successful west-coast offense in the NFL right now? And of the last 5-10 years? Philly? Are they still running a traditional west-coast?
-
NFL.com's Jason LaCanfora is reporting the same. http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/01/30/zorn-joins-ravens-as-qbs-coach/ Hopefully Zorn brings some aggressiveness with him from being a head coach that will help influence Cam's gameplanning-and-play-calling-in-critical-situations.

"Blasted" is a little much. I didn't even think Cassel was worth a second-rounder. The only reason anyone at all was "surprised" by the 2nd round value was because reporters and analysts had overblown how much interest there was in the guy. In reality, no one was ever giving up that high of a pick for him. And as soon as the draft-weekend passed, and Cassel signed his new contract, no one talked about him for the remainder of the off-season (and season, for that matter). Cassel's "trade value" was all pre-draft fluff, when there really was never much to it except one team trying to unload $14 million of cap room for an unproven player.

New Orleans limited their turnovers, and Brees threw 3 touchdowns with no picks. He spread the ball around to 8 different receivers. Against a Vikings defense that shut down the Cowboys the week before, that's doing enough to deserve a win.

"Brandon Graham, OLB/DE, Michigan Graham has been rushing with his hand on the ground but he told me most teams talking to him see him as a weakside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. He rushed with a good combination of speed and power and, at 263 pounds, could be a strongside OLB. Some compare him to Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley, but when I asked him about the comparison he was clearly his own guy. He is a solid, fundamental player who takes the game very seriously." http://www.nfl.com/seniorbowl/story?id=09000d5d815fb318&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true If this guy is even close to the pass-rushing threat that Woodley is, you have to take him at 25. In Woodley's 3 seasons in Pittsburgh, he has 4, 11.5, and 13.5 sacks. Hop aboard the BG-train, everybody!

Cassel was not only going to be the starter at KC, but signed a ridiculous contract when he got there, and he went for a 2nd. Schaub went for a 2nd as well. So no, Smith isn't at that level. 3rd or 4th is we're lucky, and we won't be lucky.
-
Right, and I said that you can't say 'neither team deserved to win' unless it's an awful game. Vikings/Saints was not an awful game.
-
I say give the man what he wants. Go ahead and pull the trigger, Ozzie... Troy Smith straight-up for Donte Whitner. ;)
-
And the "Favre throw" didn't just happen. The Saints forced Favre into an uncomfortable situation, and he made one of his worst decisions of the season. That said, he's thrown across his body other times this year and it's worked, so the Saints had a guy in the right spot this time.
-
I've got to think that the Browns are one of the least likely destinations for Troy, if not the least likely. Within the division, loaded at QB... If he wants out, I doubt it will be within the AFC, no less the AFC North.
-
Even if this were true, how do you then say that the Vikings deserved to win? Surely a team that shoots itself in the foot with turnovers does not deserve to win. Thus, the Saints had to deserve to win. You can't say "neither team deserved to win" unless the final score was 6-3.

If we really landed: 1) Jermaine Gresham 2) Danario Alexander/Mike Williams 3) Stuckey/Warren/Cunningham ...that would be an amazing draft for us. Sure, there are question marks (Gresham's injury, Alexander's size-and-speed, Williams' character concerns) but there's also the possibility that all three of those guys could end up as starters for us (which is all you can ever ask for from the players you draft).
-
So what you're saying is that we need a WR-mentor.
-
How did they have 'no right' to win? They forced turnovers and scored 28 points on the Vikings D in regulation. They deserved to win at least as much as we 'deserved' to beat Tennessee in the divisional round last year. Like TC said, the Saints try to force a turnover on every play. They're always trying to strip the ball or make the big interception. The Vikings destroyed the Cowboys. They gained a lot of yards on New Orleans, but they certainly didn't overwhelm them.

Why does everyone bring up the close win against Minnesota as if Minnesota were an average team? Many people thought Minnesota was the best team in the NFL, probably even more talented than the Colts or Chargers. So why is this victory dismissible? And many people picked Arizona to make a run at the Super Bowl. The Saints destroyed them. And btw, the Colts secondary is a joke too.

You make it sound so easy to be a backup quarterback. The truth is that a lot of backup QB's could be starters on other teams, which is why every year your Matt Moores and your Shaun Hills come out and surprise. Kerry Collins was a backup, and then took the Titans to the #1 seed in 2009 (we all know what happened thereafter.) You have guys like Jake Delhomme, Matt Schaub, Jeff Garcia, and even Kurt Warner who served as backups before coming out and having tremendous success. And I'm not even counting your young guys like Kolb, Leinart, Troy Smith, Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn, etc. Not every veteran backup QB is a never-was, and even the ones who are bring with them certain knowledge that can help a young QB. A guy like Kerry Collins might be able to help Joe with one part of his game that he struggles at, like quick reads on slant routes. Just because that backup may not be an all-time great doesn't mean they aren't great at certain things.

Baltimore Ravens Top needs: WR, TE, CB, S, DE First round (25): Jermaine Gresham Second-round options (57): WR Danario Alexander, WR Mike Williams, CB Trevard Lindley, CB Kyle Wilson Third-round options (88): S Darrell Stuckey, CB Donovan Warren, Jermaine Cunningham Summary: I projected Gresham to fall to the Ravens at No. 25 and I don't think they should pass, because whether WR is their top need or not, this is a guy who could become Joe Flacco's best friend. He can learn from Todd Heap and become a force. Alexander and Williams are both guys who could be in Round 2 or 3, and I also add two CB options. Warren or Cunningham at that stage of the third would represent great value. With Reed's health a question mark the Ravens may also consider a safety. They'd be wise to at some point. An apprenticeship under Reed could have great value. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft10/insider/news/story?id=4838849

A 6'5 guy shouldn't need a quick 40 to get open, because he can catch the ball 8 inches higher than DeSean Jackson can. I'm not talking about a jumping grab in the endzone; I'm talking about any route over the middle that can be thrown high enough to clear the dropping linebacker and the safety-in-the-box. That's how 6'2 guys get open on slants... they pluck high balls out of the air in stride and turn upfield. If that ball is thrown lower, there's no window there. Tall guys create more passing lanes for QB's, especially 6'6 ones like Flacco.
-
I'm okay with taking a flier on a one-dimensional guy like Danario in the 3rd-5th rounds. Maybe he'll fill out that frame and reach more of a Vincent-Jackson-potential. But I'd feel much more comfortable with a guy like Demaryius Thomas from GA Tech.

Robinson sounds like a perfect fit here in Baltimore. He appears to be the prototypical "Ravens-type" player that we've been looking for in our secondary for the past few years. As I've said before, Graham is my guy going into this draft.
