  11. Carson Palmer Press Conference Transcript Posted 9 minutes ago Q: Is Baltimore's defense doing the same stuff they have done in the past? CP: "No. Quite a bit different. (They have) a new coordinator, different looks, but they are very good across the board. They cover you man-to-man, they have guys that can run, and they have athletic guys on the outside, very fast guys at corner. Ed Reed is always a concern. They're a really good zone team. They pass things off really well in their zone, so they don't get themselves out of place. They don't give up big plays. It's a really well-coached, good group with Terrell Suggs and Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, three players that can be defensive MVPs every year, and a bunch of guys that are really good players, too. They're a really good unit and a tough challenge for us." Q: With four straight close games, is the confidence level on this team high? CP: "I think there's a reason for guys to have a lot of confidence. But talking to guys, we're not satisfied. We're still hungry. We have a lot of errors going on, and lots of things to clean up. We're definitely confident that we can come through. But we believe we haven't played our best football yet. We know we haven't played our best football yet. We need to go out and be more consistent from kickoff to the final whistle of the game, as opposed to have spurts in the first quarter, or the first half, or the fourth quarter or the fifth quarter. We need to put together a complete game. That's something we know we can do, but we have to go out and do it." Q: Are you guys still adjusting to the new style of trying to establish the run, first and foremost? CP: "No, we've been doing what we're doing now since April. There isn't a specific reason. It's not one reason. There have been a number of different things we've been off on from week to week. We keep going back to the drawing board, starting with the fundamentals and trying to improve on it. We come in on Monday, and we look at the mistakes we made, and we start Wednesday and go through Friday to get things ready." http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Carson-Palmer-Press-Conference-Transcript/bf8c32fd-d658-450f-b744-f1599baf9b0d
  12. Marvin Lewis Press Conference Transcript Posted 11 minutes ago Opening Comments: ML: "We're looking forward to heading up to the Ravens. In the games that we have gone up there, the team that takes care of the football best usually has come out on top. I think if we're able to gain some takeaways and turnovers defensively, play good on third down, and do the same on the other side, we can succeed. As the history has been, at least over the last six years, that's how the games unfolded." Q: Is the Baltimore defense any different with a new coordinator? ML: "They're a little different. But I think some of the things we'll see will probably end up being true to how they played us in past games. They're doing some things a little bit more fundamentally. They're going to match personnel and those things, and we'll see how it goes on Sunday." Q: Do you see this as an opportunity to show the world how far you've come as a team? A lot of people seem to be questioning how good you really are: ML: "I think you get questioned every week. Every team gets questioned." http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Marvin-Lewis-Press-Conference-Transcript/95f240dd-d5a6-476c-bd58-81b462f316d5
  13. Palmer not pleased with his play By Scott Priestle, CNATI.com Posted October 7, 2009 3:23 PM ET Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco was his typically boastful self Wednesday. He promised a touchdown in Baltimore, taunted Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and said he will check the team's cornerbacks off his list before the game. Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer was his typically honest self. He admitted to looking ahead at the schedule, expressed disappointment in the offense's performance to date and shouldered some of the blame. While Ochocinco continues to talk as if this is 2005 and the Bengals are an elite offense, Palmer has acknowledged they are not. His statistics are down noticeably from 2005-07. http://cnati.com/cincinnati-bengals/palmer-not-pleased-with-his-play-00436/
  14. Ray Lewis says matchup vs. Marvin Lewis is special Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis is working under his fourth defensive coordinator, but admits it is special playing against his first one in the NFL, Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis. Both Lewises were part of that special group in the early years that also included outside linebackers Jamie Sharper and Peter Boulware. "Yeah, the teacher and the pupil from day one," said Ray Lewis of Marvin Lewis . "It's always about what he's thinking over there and what he's telling the guys. So the bottom line is that you always have to prepare for that. You always have to prepare for the little things that he's going to tell them about you or tell them that they can do this or they can do that. You're always trying to counter it one way or another." http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2009/10/ray_lewis_says_matchup_vs_marvin_lewis_is_special.html
  15. Whatever. All I know is I saw a team that let a horrible Browns team take them almost through OT to a tie. Happy they won, yes, but we made DA look like Montana at times.
  16. Bengals 3-2 after next week.
  17. More smashmouth offense in 2009? Posted by JoeReedy at 1/13/2009 1:18 PM EST on Cincinnati.com I talked to Bengals offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski today about the team's plans in the offseason, which will kick into high gear next week when the coaching staff assembles in Mobile, Ala., for the Senior Bowl. Head coach Marvin Lewis has said since the season ended that the offense will have a different look next season, and by all indications that means they are joining the rest of the AFC North in becoming a little more run oriented. One thing that is evident is that the Bengals need to improve on offense to be successful. They had the league's worst-ranked offense last season. http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/s....cincinnati.com
  18. Bengals eye division duels By GEOFF HOBSON January 12, 2009 If anyone knows just how brutal Sunday's AFC (North) title game is going to be between Pittsburgh and Baltimore, just check in with Bengals offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski. Although he's had more success than most against the division iron, all four games this year against the top-rated Steelers defense and the second-ranked Ravens made the bottom 11 of the worst offensive outputs in Marvin Lewis' 97 games as head coach of the Bengals. But maybe the way to beat them is to join them. Bratkowski knows that Lewis is calling for "a way different" offense as the club tries to get back into the division competition next season. http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=7449
  19. Steelers Owner Dan Rooney Responds to the WhoDey Revolution (IMG:http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii120/spbengals/6a00e550080ede8833010536b35c91970b.jpg) Dan Rooney, longtime owner of the historically successful Pittsburgh Steelers, took the time to respond to Project Mayhem Task #7: WhoDey Revolution's letter to NFL Commish Roger Goodell asking him to intervene to force the Bengals ownership to stop taking advantage of the NFL's generous revenue sharing and work to field a competitive team. Rooney, whose team has beaten the Bengals 8 times in the last 10 games and 10 of the last 14, seems to think that the "Bengals do everything the can to be a successful team." Really? Everything they can? Like having the smallest scouting department in the NFL? The Steelers have 11 full time player personnel staff - the Bengals have 3. Or being the team furthest North without an indoor training facility? Or undercutting your coaches authority by signing the exact troubled player they publicly stated they don't want back on the team? So, sorry Mr. Rooney, the Bengals are certainly not doing "everything they can" to be successful. If things don't change, Mr. Rooney, your Steelers can expect two more easy wins a year. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii120/s...6b35c91970b.jpg
  20. BENGALS MOVING CHAD MERCHANDISE Posted by Mike Florio on January 8, 2009, 12:48 p.m. The Cincinnati Bengals are engaged in an online promotion that might or might not provide a clue about the future of receiver Chad Johnson a/k/a Chad Ocho Cinco. For every $50 spent via the team’s pro shop, the buyer will receive a free No. 85 jersey, with either ”C. Johnson” or “Ocho Cinco” on the name plate. At first, we thought that it was a way for the team to clear out the “C. Johnson” merchandise, so that Johnson can officially become “Ocho Cinco” in ‘09. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/01/08/...ad-merchandise/
  21. No surgery for Palmer Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 03:10 PM EST Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer will not need surgery on his elbow, the team confirmed on Tuesday. "We did get back those late exam results that (Palmer) had made reference to, and the word is that -- as Marvin had stated he expected -- the results continue to indicate No. 9 will heal without surgery in time for full 2009 offseason work," Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said on Tuesday. Palmer said last month that he'd seen five doctors and most of them had recommended rehab over surgery on the elbow that he injured in the Bengals' third game of the season. Palmer last played on Oct. 5 at Dallas. Palmer started a throwing regimen in early December and by the Bengals' final week of practice, was throwing against a defense and said all felt good with his elbow and he'd hoped to avoid surgery. http://www.thelotd.com/ctrent/

  24. RIVERS GOT 50TH VOTE, SOMEHOW The AP report announcing that Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo is the 2008 defensive rookie of the year mentioned that Mayo received 49 of the 50 votes. But the report doesn’t identify the recipient of the 50th vote. It was, we’re told, Bengals linebacker Keith Rivers. Seriously. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/12/31/...h-vote-somehow/
  25. Troy and Katie Blackburn Want to Hire a GM; Mike Brown Still Not Convinced Sources close to the top Bengals management have confirmed to WhoDeyRevolution that senior Bengals executives are pushing for the team to hire a General Manager. According to this source, Katie and Troy Blackburn, the Executive Vice President and Vice President, respectively, are adamant about the team hiring a GM. They only impediment to the team bringing in a GM from outside the system is, no surprise here, Mike Brown. The source was not able to confirm or deny the teams supposed interest in former Dolphins GM Randy Mueller, per PFT reports. Mike is not yet convinced that his 18 years as GM don't warrant another shot, despite one playoff appearance in 18 years and the worst record among every team in all 4 major sports under his reign. But it is positive that the "new guard" of Bengals management, who will eventually take over the team, have finally identified the primary culprit that has led to 18 years of historic losing. http://www.whodeyrevolution.com/whodeyrevo...-convinced.html
