cravnravn Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Harbaugh, we'll start with you. 3rd & 12 with a 1:25 left and you have 2 time outs left..You know the only option Pittsburgh has..Why not burn a TO, and atleast blitz Rothelsberger..No you let the time run and Pittsburgh goes on a 94 yard scoring drive--Stupid Terrell Suggs--StupidKelly Washington--You HAVE to know where the play is, your holding had no influence with the play at all--Stupid Frank Walker--King StupidO'Neil Cousins--StupidNgata--StupidDerrick Mason--You get a mulligan, but it was still stupid. And to the Ravens team, when we make these stupid mistakes, what is so funny?? It really makes you look stupid. We had 11 penalties for 113 yards vs Pittsburghs 4 for 20 something. smokeyjon Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I'm so sick of watching those guys laugh after they do something colossally stupid. Quote
dc. Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 yesterday was the first time i really noticed laughing after stupid plays... usually its anger. but you're right, yesterday it was horribly frustrating. mason i almost forgive... in that situation, there's not much you can do but laugh and shake it off. it doesnt mean he's happy about it, it just means there's nothing else to do. but cousins, ngata, etc etc etc... hang your head in shame. thundercleetz Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I sure hope Gaither is ready to go next week, Cousins played a very large role in losing this game for us. I don't care if it is the Raiders, we cannot take anything for granted. If Reed and Gaither can play, play them! Quote
ForceEight Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 It's still Monday, but I actually feel like I'd be happier as an 8-8 no show in the playoffs than 9-7 and getting in undeservedly. When the Bengals/Pats beat us in their stadium, will we feel any better? No. Our record this season will be either 8-8 or 9-8. And if we made it any further, I'd be embarrassed. We aren't the Cardinals, looking for any chance at postseason play. It will not be an entertaining two weeks if we beat the Raiders (the first week being the embarrassment of being in the playoffs, the second week the hangover from a New England/Cincinnati blowout). Even better: in 2008, we lost to the Steelers three times. Who wants to lose to Cincinnati three times in 2009? It's sickening to even think about. I have no desire to watch playoff football this year. Especially since I likely don't have to root for whatever team Pittsburgh is playing. Quote
cravnravn Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 If we go to NE yes it will be a blowout..In Cinncy no it wont....But thats just me being stupid. Quote

He let the play clock run so that the Steelers, if they made the first down, would not have much time to work down the field. Ben has frequently burned us when he had 3rd and long throughout the years, so let the clock run and hurt their chances to go all the way down the field...obviously this plan backfired as the secondary blew coverage after coverage (and Holmes got away with a facemask on the TD). But if we were able to stop them deep in their territory, we would have got the ball back with great field position, well over a minute on the clock and one or two timeouts. Either way, it didn't matter...calling the timeout would have just given them more time to work down the field. As for blitzing Roethlisberger...yeah, they probably should have. Quote
cravnravn Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 But that what be playing conserative wouldn't it? Its 3rd and 12 and they are deep in their own territory..Unleash the hounds!!!!!! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I think this team is throwing in the towel. It is time to let guys take a seat for being stupid. Quote
dc. Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I don't think the 3rd and 12 call was conservative. Even if it was, it was not on Harbaugh - it was on the coordinators. But not taking the timeout? That was the right call. Quote

I have to disagree on this Force.Do you mean to tell me that you would feel better watching the Ravens lose to the Raiders on Sunday? Some fans wait a decade or more to see their team make the playoffs. You can't win a Super Bowl without getting at least this far and you know what?....The Ravens, if they get in, have a shot. They played Cincy close last time at Cincy and Cincy has been flat for at least 3 weeks. They are beatable. In fact, there are no dominant AFC teams in the playoffs despite the Colts record and the run the Chargers are on. The Ravens beat the Chargers once and played the Colts tight in a 17-15 loss.27-21 loss to the Pats.Nobody will blow them out and they might surprise like last year. They won 2 playoff games. They are battle tested and experienced. Hell if yesterdays game showed me anything positive it was how the Ravens dominated the Steelers. Eliminate the penalties and mistakes from here on out and I like the Ravens chances. anyway...I live to see "My" team...the Baltimore Ravens make the playoffs.I love being a nervous friggn'n wreck... thundercleetz Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Saying we do not deserve to be in the playoffs is bullcrap. Are the Steelers, Jaguars, Jets, Broncos, or Dolphins anymore deserving than us? At least all of our losses are to top teams, you cannot say the same about the rest of the teams who all have some very embarassing loses. The bottom line is that we are not an easy matchup for anyone in the playoffs. We have played the best teams this season and have been in every game until the end. That demands respect from our opponent. Quote

Agreed. And Cards last year.. 6-0 record in the division, 3-7 outside, and hmm scoring difference 427-426.. We have +122. Oh and they were how close to the final win. I am not saying we will do much harm, we are talented than most, and our defense is actually still a top five defense.. you could argue that we are second to the Jets. Quote
