dc. Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Even with the Jays... lucky to not have faced Darvish tonight. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Big series win indeed ! Some good fortune in there too. Tough challenge ahead in Beantown with only a few hours rest and facing an extremely tough SP rotation- Lester, Lackey and Peavey. Our MO has been to lay a collective egg after a big series win. In spite of their poor play, this Is the best rotation they could have thrown at us this weekend. Lets see if we can change the MO. Good thing Toronto is in Oakland playing the ALs best team and arguably the best in baseball. Oakland could be a very good friend to us this weekend. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Game today got cancelled due to rain! Very fortunate for us due to the short rest. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Cool. We can use the rest. Let the As take care of the Jays today. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 And the A's take down the Jays..1/2 game atop the East Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Wow the A's traded for Samardzija and Hammel. Very un-Beane like. Looks like they are going all-in this year. Samardzija rejected $85 million from the Cubs. He's going to want over $100 million and the A's have never ponied up that much cash. Steep price for a rental but if the A's win the World Series it will be worth it. Quote
dc. Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Samardzija isn't worth anywhere close to 100m. Crazy. Have to go look at what the Cubs got in return but that is a big move for the As. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Their last two first round picks, DC. One is a shortstop in AA who is a consensus top ten prospect in baseball who is projected as an All Star talent. The other is a top 100 prospect, outfielder, I believe, who has a pretty good projection but only in Single A. Tough to take the loss in the first game. Gonzalez pitched possibly his gutsiest outing of his career. He went eight strong despite being in some tough situations, only 1 ER. I loved the confidence Buck showed in Gonzo sticking with him in the eighth inning. Would have been great to get him the win. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Great game last night, timely hitting, Cruz tried his butt off for the cycle, that bomb he hit to left was still rising when it hit that tarp. Edited July 6, 2014 by cravnravn Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 That was a lot of fun watching Cruz try and leg out that triple. It was also amusing when the announcers stated all the O's that have hit for the cycle. Hall of Fame players then Felix Pie... Quote
varaven45 Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 It's 3-1 but how many bases loaded opps and scoring 1 run are we going to do ? It feels like the Ravens driving 70 yards and coming away with no TD and just a FG attempt. Gotta punch it in or it will come back to haunt you. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 I think we just scored a TD ! But you can never have enough runs in Fenway Quote
varaven45 Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 I can . The enigmatic offense occasionally becomes the enigmatic bullpen . But it's all good we won 7-6, As took care of Jays, and we are up 2 in the AL East. Life's good Crav; grab a cold one Quote
Spen Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I fucking cant believe we blew a 6-1 lead, Forget it, Cravn. It's Fenway. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Forget it, Cravn. It's Fenway. Oh I understand if it was homeruns that got that back in, but it wasnt. It is all good, 2 game lead in the East, coming up on the break..whodathunkit Quote
dc. Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 It's as easy to blow a 6-1 lead as it is to build one... but a win is a win, and I'll take it. Quote
varaven45 Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Yep. On to the team they DC affectionately calls "curly W's" or some call "team Walgreen" Looking for an extremely low scoring game with Tillman and Strasberg on the hill. Quote
Spen Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Oh I understand if it was homeruns that got that back in, but it wasnt. It is all good, 2 game lead in the East, coming up on the break..whodathunkit Oh I was just making a Chinatown reference. Yeah it sucks to blow that lead. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 And look at Toronto fading off into the sunset, the series with the Spankmees is looming large Quote
