vmax Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I thought this thread was about Jacoby Jones. Quote

RavenMad Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 lol, me 3. There was a stat that flashed up on the screen during the game that JJ's latest drop was his 8th and was good for 2nd most drops in the league! Give me some more Marlon Brown and less Jacoby. The poor fella couldn't even catch some kick offs that were landing around the goal line yesterday! Quote

The poor fella couldn't even catch some kick offs that were landing around the goal line yesterday! No, the stat was for the entire recieving core, putting the team second worst in the league. Frankly, their stats are wrong, the team had 9 drops in the frist game, 3 by Jones, 3 in the second game, 2 by Jones, one by T Smith, 3 in the 3rd game, 1 by Jones, 2 by T Smith. So they have 15 now by my count before yesterday. Three is normal for a game, it happens. T Smith, nice catch on the touchdown, but he better learn, & quickly, how to get away from the jams & holding, he won't get the calls much longer and it will cost the team a touchdown, a pick & a game because he can't stay on his routes. I agree about Brown, he needs more playing time, him and Aiken, so they can gain confidence in the system and run their routes at the proper speed. They both are tough, good hands receivers, just young and unsure of their routes. You saw that in one of Brown's catches, Trent Green mentioned it. Brown ran a rough, weak out route, but did come back to the ball keeping the DB from under cutting since he, the Db read the route, easily. Quote
tgann68 Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 It does apply to Jacoby but IMHO the original "Hands of Stone" was Ed Dickson. I mean I always wanted him to catch the ball and rooted for him like crazy; even felt bad for him in the beginning. When he was traded my Bp went down 50 points ad yesterday's nonevent performance confirmed Oz was right to me. Quote
varaven45 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Jacoby is still in "Dancing with the Stars" mode. I don't know if he's coming out of it anytime soon. In the meantime, lets see Brown and Aiken. Quote
tgann68 Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 I totally agree and was talking to cravn about it as well. He has lost his concentration and focus. The guy that showed up here in 2011 humbled by his disaster in Houston needs to return and quick or he will get bypassed. Aiken and Brown are the real deal imo. Every time I see either of them they catch a ball. Quote

Jacoby must have seen that big screen yesterday because while all other Ravens were celebrating, JJ sat on the bench looking like someone had just kidnapped his puppy. Quote

In the meantime, lets see Brown and Aiken. I second that. When Brown and Aiken lined up with Torry and Steve Smith the Panthers D was pooping their pants.Throw in Owen Daniels and no team is that deep in coverage players. Somebody...more than somebody, will be open every time.and then there's Juice.... Quote
vmax Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Jones has caught just three passes for 20 yards on 10 targets this season. His longest catch is 11 yards.Jones was expected to have a bigger role in the Ravens' offense this season because of his background in offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's offense with the Houston Texans. He's on pace to catch 16 passes for 106 yards.Jones caught 37 passes for 455 yards and two touchdowns last season. Meanwhile, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith has 25 catches for 429 yards and three touchdowns since signing a three-year, $11 million contract in March. At the quarter pole of the season, Smith is on pace to finish the season for 100 receptions for 1,716 yards and a dozen touchdowns.
