varaven45 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Team playing as bad as I've seen the last 2 years. Pitching staff is giving up touchdowns, infield playing like bad news bears. Offense out of synch. The good news is this team cannot play any worse. Can it ? Quote
dc. Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Definitely could play worse, so don't jinx us. But not fun to watch right now. I'm most worried about our bullpen - walks and big his. ODay hasn't gotten his groove back since the end of last summer, lots of hrs. Worst is that all the big his and takes list night started with two out and no one on... Then three run home runs! Quote
varaven45 Posted April 26, 2015 Author Posted April 26, 2015 Nice way to take out frustration on sox pitching staff. Plus, I like when we score in TDs and FGs. Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 This division is wide open. Each team has weaknesses. The walk off HR last night was a big momentum changer for us. If we lost that game things could have gotten really bad for us. Great to see us follow up a close walk off win with a big game offensively. Jimmy Paredes is killing it. He performed well for us at the end of last season, he had a great spring and is raking in the majors. Hopefully he can keep up a high level of play this season. He is a big guy with good speed. cravnravn Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Guess what? We took the series from the Blowsox Quote
varaven45 Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Indeed. Big win and Mo changer for team Quote
dc. Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Jimmy Paredes could wind up being HUGE for this team - especially with injuries to Schoop and Flaherty (well, Flaherty's play in general) and the lack of production from Pearce. The guy is still young and fairly new to MLB... I am thinking/hoping this could be a Buck/Duquette magic type of guy. His spring was astounding. Quote
vmax Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Pounding the White Sox today...8-2 in the 7th. Quote
varaven45 Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 On a mini win streak eh ? What's that; three in a row ? Quote
cravnravn Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Whoa, Chris Davis is on fire!!!! Somebody pee test him Quote
vmax Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Good weekend...this is 2 Sundays in a row that they have won.Maybe they are breaking this streak. Quote
varaven45 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Good weekend indeed Max . A weekend series win by the O's and an excellent driaft by the ravens is just what the doctor ordered for Charm city Quote
varaven45 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 For anyone watching the O's these days, they look like the walking dead. Damn scary looking bunch right now. Quote
dc. Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Can't entirely disagree... And yet, or record says we're alive, and in the must of a killer stretch of overwhelming division games... Meanwhile, this time last year, we were in much the same spot. We ended May 27-27 ... And many were taking about how the year was toast, good teams don't founder so many changes, etc. I'll just wait patiently. More worried about arms than bats these days. Hiding Garcia, the rule 5, and refusing to use him in most games isn't helping. Quote
varaven45 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Yep. Actually, the Yankees and a mediocre bunch. Yet they'll win the weekend series as the Os work their way out of this general malaise. The team desperately needs someone to put em on their back and get it off the damn Schnide . Quote
cravnravn Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 With this team, just be within 5 games at the all star break. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Paredes continues his tear at the plate! Maybe Paredes is a late bloomer who could be our Joey Bats or Edwin Encarnación. Heck, if he's at least half of that it would be huge for our lineup! Can't entirely disagree... And yet, or record says we're alive, and in the must of a killer stretch of overwhelming division games... Meanwhile, this time last year, we were in much the same spot. We ended May 27-27 ... Hiding Garcia, the rule 5, and refusing to use him in most games isn't helping.Agreed its division or bust for us. The AL Central and West look strong this year, a WC might be tough. Hopefully Boston continues to fizzle out. What's the deal with Garcia? Is he truly a good enough talent to waste a roster spot on? Quote
dc. Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Garcia was a huge Sox prospect - throwing near 100 in his early 20s - until at least one (maybe two) major elbow injuries. So he's never played above Single A. The Sox put him on the Rule 5 wire this year thinking no one would take the risk of having to hold him all year because he is so raw... the Astros took him, the O's traded for him. The O's actually then had 2 rule 5s... Garcia and another guy who was more polished/ready but less final upside. There was talk they might actually hold on to both at the start of the season. They let the other guy go and held Garcia, obviously. Biggest questions are of course, will he ever hit his potential but also will he even fully recover? He's not throwing near that 100 mark anymore these days... so what is he if he doesn't have that? Rule 5 has treated the O's well. I trust Buck's eye on these things generally too. But man is he a weight on the entire pen right now. Oh how I would love to have the Sox have to pay for giving him up though... Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Paredes is now officially third in the league in batting. He's been huge for us this season. Once we get Schoop and Wieters back our offense will be very strong. Quote
dc. Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 He'll only rise as he gets enough at bats to qualify more legitimately. If under qualified, they add 0/1 as many times as needed to make you qualify... So that's even counting against him. He's been a great surprise, another great find. Waiting for Snider to show his worth... Quote

Waiting for Snider to show his worth...He just qualified last night officially! He's third behind De. Brown and Nellie. If we could sweep the Marlins that would be huge. We have a tough stretch coming up with two series against the red hot Astros and a series against the division leading Rays. Quote
