vmax Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) I enjoyed the game because I like defense. then again, great defense makes the game ugly, so for many fans, this was a boring, crappy Super Bowl.It was like "which team will crack?"Then both offenses cracked. OMG! WAS MANNING HORRIBLE! Embarrassing. Kubiak's smartest move was to not let him throw on 3rd and 7...or 5....or 2. Game ball for Kubiak. Darn! No fun for the Panthers D! They could not have fun. Shit! That was their winning formula. Have fun.Nobody trusted Manning, who, on a national stage in his swan song, was an embarrassment and that's why he wanted to drink a lot of "Sadder Budwiesers" after the game.....so he could forget all people saddened by watching a great player, one of the greatest QB's ever, struggle....hobble....into the sunset.Sadder yet was him making sure Papa John could get his mug in the limelight moments after the game ended, give him a kiss....yuck!....and then "let's market Budweisers because I own distributorships!" Like you don't have enough money Peyton....and tv commercials already. Cam "I never saw a camera I didn't like" Newton???? He couldn't get away from the cameras fast enough...so he went forth "into the weeping and gnashing of teeth." In Cam's defense, his O line was a sieve, he had no time to throw and his receivers forgot how to catch.....and they could not run the ball. Great game plan by Phillips and excellently executed by his players. The schizophrenic half time show????The Corporate Dumbys thought this one up.Tell me what it means! Please! My head hurts trying to figure it out.OK...we have Cold Play.... and I couldn't understand a word he sang. Surrounded by the usual obligatory crowd of dancing, overly enthusiastic kids ...our clean cut American youth. On Jerry Garcia laser flower lights..60's???? .But wait! Here comes Beyonce with a female entourage of Black Panthers. What's this mean? Nobody knows! ARE WE IN THE 60'S?! Then Bruno from Mars, God of War, only he's a short version...and his all male entourage strut toward them like a Jets and the Sharks street fight is about to break out. Men in black vs Women in black! This could get interesting...if only I knew what they were saying.Cold Play jumps in the middle. Huh? I guess no fight.... They all sing together, but unintelligibly....but thankfully, the crowd holds up signs that say this is all about love! Who'd-a-thunk?! I can hang with that. What an obvious conclusion. It's an American message. Definitely NFLish. I guess there wasn't enough time for the obligatory marketing ploy to "have everybody wave American flags." Maybe next year. And hey....no marketing ploy wardrobe malfunction and the obligatory crotch grabbing was certainly a lot less....maybe after 20 years that move is getting old. Good job Lady Gagaaaahhhh. Surprised me. Von Miller....you won this game. If the Denver offense had to drive more than 2 yards then the Panthers would have won. And please spare me this Denver defense is one of the greatest ever nonsense. No confetti.... Edited February 9, 2016 by vmax 1 Quote
GrubberRaven Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I enjoyed it for the defense...waiting to see who would slip first. I enjoyed watching Cam's smirk disappear. I hoped Manning would have a decent game, but he didn't. He did give credit where credit was due and did not make it about his 'last ride'. Manning is a class act. Those D's were great to watch. Was surprised to see Chicago's D is still ranked over ours. Quote
Spen Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) I thought it was awful. Two good defenses and two terrible offenses. I don't mind Cam and don't like the way people and the media piled on him. Other players have left press conferences before out just not gone and not faced the same criticism. Imagine if Cam left the field early with time on the clock to avoid handshakes like Peyton did in the Saints SB loss. Would writers be excusing/explaining it because of what a competitor he is? I doubt it. Some of the same writers who excused that from Peyton tore Cam apart. Garbage. Or what if Cam said "Im trying to be a good teammate here, let's just say we had some problems with protection" like Peyton did after that loss. I get not being a fan of huge celebrations, though as long as that's what they are and not taunts they don't bother me at all. But really Ravens fans don't have much room to criticize other teams players for celebrations. Edited February 10, 2016 by Spen Quote
GrubberRaven Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I don't like any celebrations, period. The first down tomahawk point gets old. The spinning the ball...it's all old. I can't stand when a player can't just hand the damn ball back to the ref. I gave Cam a break after watching the AZ playoff game...I get it. It's infectious and fun to watch...when you're winning. I also watched him flop to the ground like my three year old He even came out yesterday stating he's a sore loser. When I hear someone is a role model for kids and acts like that...on a big stage...yup no thanks. Quote
Spen Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I also watched him flop to the ground like my three year oldIf it's the same one, that made me laugh. He flopped after the Panthers were called for a defensive holding right at the end of the game. The game was pretty much over by then. Quote
vmax Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Here's Smucks take on the best defense ever nonsense.... .............Their defense might have knocked Newton into another ZIP code, but it wasn't even the stingiest defense in the AFC during the regular season. The Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs gave up fewer points than the Broncos. The Ravens pitched four shutouts that season and dominated their four playoff opponents, giving up an average of just 5.8 points per game and trouncing the New York Giants, 34-7, in Super Bowl XXXV.In short, combine the regular season and the postseason and this year's Broncos defense allowed nearly twice as many points as the 2000 Ravens (340 to 188) and 132 more than the '85 Bears. The only way to really include the Broncos in this conversation is to point out that the NFL is a more offense-minded league now than it was in 1985 or 2000, which is true. It's just not true enough. The average team in the AFC this year scored 361 points, about 30 points more than the average for the NFC in 1985 or the AFC of 2000 — or about two points per game. Even giving Denver extra credit for shutting down the top-scoring team in either league Sunday, it's impossible to make the "best-ever" argument stick.Case closed...........http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-schmuck-column-0210-20160209-column.html 1 Quote
