papasmurfbell Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/joe-flacco/Yes with yrly cap hits of between $22.5 and $28.2 I am sure that they will not need to restructure again to get more flexible space. Quote
vmax Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Last seasons taste of 2nd tier QB's starting for the Ravens was enough for me to feel good about locking Joe up.I don't need anymore of that. Quote
TBird Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 With the Ravens @ #6 in the draft I see them getting an impact and game changer thatwill put them back in the playoffs next year and the SB in a couple of years. Before theseason started SI and Peter King had Ravens winning SB 50. Then they had 80% of the team on injured reserve including their stars like Joe,and Suggs and Forsett at key positions. They should be up and running this year and with the fusion of new guys from drafting sohigh, Ravens will be back on top. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Si and Peter King showed they were rather foolish also. They didn't lose all those players week one. They were losing with almost everyone of them. Quote

thundercleetz Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 It's an enormous contract, no doubt. The way I look at it we had three options: 1. Restructure Flacco's deal2. Trade/Cut Flacco, and draft Weintz/Goff. Lots of cap room in 2017. 3. Trade/Cut Flacco, try to sign a guy like Ryan Fitzpatrick for a smaller deal and reinvest in the rest of the team. Lots of cap room in 2017. What is the right answer? I don't know, but I certainly do not like option 3. Option 2 is a crapshoot. Quote
TBird Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 That's the right deal for Smurf. He'd love to see Flacco leave. Just look at the big picof Joe and the caption on his every post. That's what trolls do. Every GM would jump if Joe was released. He knew when he signed the contract it would haveto be restructured when it smashed the CAP to pieces. Ozzie is bull shittingsaying this is not about the CAP. It's about keeping Joe Flacco. It has everything to do with the CAP. They hoped to shave about $8M off the CAP and Joe saved them $6M. They all negotiatedso that's what came out. It doubled the room they already had. Joe's a winner because hegets historic guarantee to $44M plus 3 more years and the CAP is less for Ravens than whatit was. So the Ravens get $2M more by cutting D. Smith and Canty who is old and injured so that'stheir $8M which might be enough to sign KO or someone else. GB will have to do the same with Rogers. Quote

Yea we get disappointed from time to time but that's to be expected with the success we have had and will have in the future. Quote
TBird Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Ravens should have won the last two SBs including this year. Denver who won it beating themin the last min of the 1st game, out there on the road, with Suggs going down. We should have wonthat. Then 80% were injured afterward and Ravens lost 11 games by less than 8 pointsall within the last min of the games. Peter King said we would have gone to the SB and won it last year if not for the deletedsecondary and a guy they picked off the street that wasn't even playing football. They wonthe wild card game in Piss with Melvin, then it took the best QB in the world and coach tobeat him in PO game in Foxboro and in Feb not to mention all their cheating, bending ofthe rules and trickery vs a team with no defense. Ravens still should have won it but blewtwo leads of 2 TDs. So on paper, Ravens should have been in SB50 and won it. They should get a Buckner or Jack in this year's draft to get them back in plus the otherplayers they get drafting so high. Trolls just don't know this stuff. Quote
TBird Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Keep trolling. We lost more players than almost anyone. On paper we had one of the best team beforeall the stars went down at key positions - QB, RB, WRs, PASS RUSHER, DT. Nothing revised about that. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 They were losing games like crazy before they lost most of them. You are just making excuses now and I know what they are like. Quote

TBird Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Keep trolling and read this and weep. Here's a list of injured before Joe and Forsett wentdown just about more than anyother team. They only need another impact player ortwo to get them back. This is the fact Jack while your postings wouldn't be allowed on the other Ravens boards. It's called trolling especially with that pic on every post. The other boards wouldn't allow it. And it's a fact that we lost in Denver in the first game of the season at the end of the game whentheir CB slapped the ball into SR's face in the final minute of the game w/o even our #1 draft pick who was injured on the first day of training camp. He might have made a play or twoto win that game but shit happens. He was out with 80% of the rest of the team down thruthe season. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Late-For-Work-1023-Do-Ravens-Have-More-Injuries-Than-Other-NFL-Teams/e4cc83e3-1ea5-4f28-ac95-b894df2ad1e1 Quote

TBird Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 The enjoyment of trolling allows you to sleep. These are the facts that let me sleep. Look at the first 6 games of the season and withSuggs going down in the first game. Just like I said, a score in the final minute of the game, then the Ravens split the rest of the season. It took the Clowns to OT to beat that depletedteam. As bad as they’ve been on defense, you can also make a pretty strong case that the Ravens are unlucky to be 1-5. While they required a staggering amount of luck to come back and win that Steelers game, they were within a fourth-quarter possession — or in other cases, even one play — of winning every other game. Steve Smith Sr. memorably dropped a touchdown pass against the Broncos in Week 1. Oakland and Cincinnati drove for game-winning scores in the final three minutes. Cleveland converted three third downs to kick a clinching field goal in overtime. Their five-point loss to the 49ers was probably the furthest the Ravens came from victory, and they finished that game on the San Francisco 35-yard line. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-anatomy-of-baltimores-lost-season/ Quote
vmax Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Bottom line....and I love the Ravens.... They only won 5 games.Pretty pathetic. What's that saying???? Putting lipstick on a pig. Quote

So Suggs being out made them lose the start of the season? Well maybe Joe and Forset being out made them do betting at the end of the season. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 So Suggs being out made them lose the start of the season? Well maybe Joe and Forset being out made them do betting at the end of the season.First half of the schedule was fucking brutal, I honestly expected to be 4-4, maybe 5-3 barring no injury, first 8 games we lost a shitload of starters starting with Perriman. But it's OK, all good teams face this, we will be fine this season, Joe's recovery is one for the record books, we will contend for a SB quicker than you want/think/hope Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 That front end was difficult but not impossible with the Browns, SD, SF, and Oak. The Ravens just were not that good. Quote
cravnravn Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Two consecutive West coast teams away then home opener with the Bungles then Stealers is what I was referring too. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 The team did request that. They knew it was going to happen. Quote
TBird Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 So Suggs being out made them lose the start of the season? Well maybe Joe and Forset being out made them do betting at the end of the season. Definitely the rest of the season. Think we would have won that first Clowns game that went into OT.You don't think he would have added pressure in the other losses to make a difference? Dooom went down too. 80% of the team was hurt at one point, so yea, that helped them lose the start, middle and end of the season foronly 5 wins. Re-read the article in red. It showed how close those games were. Just one play and at the lastmin of the game in each game. Quote
