I know they had to change somethings because people could not hold/ control their liquor, but doing away with an open infield and putting those bad bands in there seems to have taken some from the fun.. A statement from the mayor's office reads, in part, "The Pimlico plan includes a new state-of-the-art clubhouse and community events center at Pimlico, replacing facilities that were over 100 years old in parts. "The clubhouse and events center will be a community asset and available for community use when not being used for the Preakness Stakes or other racing meets. No money to fix the City schools with a/c but hey, we can put 10++ mil for a track that only gets fans in the stands once a year..... But wait, they don't just want to build new grandstands and make other repairs, thwy want to flip the track so that they can put a groccery store at the track as well.....
