tsylvester Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Player in league history... Where will Lamar fall? ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- From the moment the Denver Broncos landed Russell Wilson in a franchise-altering trade this past March, general manager George Paton insisted that the team's goal was to sign the star quarterback to a long-term extension. Paton and the Broncos achieved that goal Thursday, agreeing with Wilson on a five-year, $245 million extension that includes $165 million in guaranteed money, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34500536/russell-wilson-denver-broncos-agree-5-year-extension-worth-245-million-including-165-million-guaranteed-sources-say Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Trade Lamar. He will hurt the team for yrs if signed. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 28, 2023 Author Posted December 28, 2023 Wow, how the tables have been turned over. Broncos bench him for the last 2 games to "get a spark" for their offense and for "financial reasons". What would those reasons be? For starters, he us fully owed $39 million for next year, BUT, and it is a giant booty, his contract, the one spoken about above, ya know, the $242.6 million deal, will not go into affect unless he is on their roster at the start of free agency next March, which would kick in a $37 million guaranteed in 2025. So, while it had been an expensive couple of years, money and draft picks, it will save a ton by cutting or trading a healthy Wilson, the football player not the coconut, before the start of free agency. 63% completion, 42 tds, 19 picks 11-19 record, ouch Edit to add, they will have a whopping $85 million dead cap hit if they release him.. tsylvester Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 Per Shefty, Broncos to release Wilson, will incur an $85 million dead cap hit; ouch, highest ever Quote
tsylvester Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Just amazing all around from the treatment he demanded to his bad play, all of the draft capital they gave up. Pitt seems a good fit, if his wife allows the move Quote
