OutsideRzAcE Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 According to The Carroll County Times, the Ravens have agreed to terms with offensive tackle Mark LeVoir. Aaron Wilson reports that LeVoir, 29, tried out for the Ravens on Saturday along with former Tennessee Titans lineman Jason Murphy. LeVoir started two games over three seasons for the New England Patriots. The 6-foot-7, 310-pounder was released by the Patriots after refusing to take a paycut. [More...] I'm not really sure what this means beyond further confirmation that the Oneil Cousins tackle experiment is official done. I guess it gives the Ravens some security if Ried's progress stalls. They can start Ried, they can start this guy, or they can keep Cousins at Guard and start Yanda at tackle. Quote

Thats how I see it too unless this guy functioned at a high level for the Pats. Sounds like NE wasn't just cutting him, they were trying to save money. Quote
colincac Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Yeah good news on the fact they still wanted him, just wanted to pay him less as a backup. He has a good chance of being better than Reid/Cousins given that news. I still NEED to see the Ngata deal done. We do that and we can bring in Stinchcomb/McKinnie. You can't tell me one of them wouldn't be a clear upgraded at RT. Quote

He has started a ton of games for the Steelers the past few years. He's not a stud, but he's capable and has playoff experience. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I wonder if he sticks if McKinny sticks around. Only a few starts in several yrs. He is coming from a solid OL coach but who knows. Quote
yagersports Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Hopefully he sticks...the depth would be tremendous. Cousins backing up the guard positions, and LeVoir the tackles. Reid awaiting his time next year or the year after. Quote
oldno82 Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 If Levoir shows this week that he can play and succeed, I'd like to keep him. Good offensive lineman are a short commodity and so important. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 It can also turn into a numbers game. They have to get to 53. I bet they go with 1 backup QB but they will be letting some good players go. Quote
