tsylvester Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Good start for the team. Both are great team players, and have been dependable in rotations & on special teams. Worley has been improving very well in coverage, using his speed and instincts much better. Quote
oldno82 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Urban is especially needed in the rotation what with Calais getting older. Speaking of which, I hope they can bring Calais back at the 'right price'. Quote
tsylvester Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 Yeah, he carries something like 9 mil in a cap hit, too much for an older, slower, one down player. Great leader but best to head into coaching. I think he wouls be great at coaching Quote
oldno82 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 I agree. I was surprised Biennemy took the OC job with Washington. Why leave KC for a lateral move to such a dysfunctional organization? Quote
tsylvester Posted February 18, 2023 Author Posted February 18, 2023 From what I hear, he is "quite the odd ball" person, from someone who knows him well. He doesn't want to talk about why he has been turned down so much, at least not to the media, even to those in the media is trusts. The media is trying to make this about race, but as this person said, it is more about him and his personality. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 A lot if crappy unqualified ppl have gotten HC jobs. If he is quirky but good who cares? Quote

True papa, but if you don't interview well, you likely don't getting hired in any job. He was offered advice to get help interviewing much like another coach a few years ago, as the reporter stated. That coach was not hired prior to getting the help, even though he was quite qualified, but the first coaching cycle after getting the help, he was... no name was given. So if Eric doesn't want help to learn how to interview, and interviews poorly especially with his background of flauting opposition to authority and rules, why should an owner take the chance just because Eric appears to be qualified? Don't get me wrong, plenty of terrible assistants went on to get head coaching jobs, with little to no resume, some bombed as expected, others went on to be pretty good coaches. Their interviews are what sold them to the owners. I once applied for a job I had no experience with, but because of the interview I did, they offered me the job on the spot. Likewise, I once was well qualified for a job, but went in to the interview too confident, didn't get the job... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Im just saying dudes like Kingsbury who have not done anything anywhere can talk their way into a job it says a lot about how pathetic the process is. Quote
tsylvester Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 Oh I hear ya, some coaches are best as coordinators, like Rex Ryan (who is making the rounds again) and Kliff K, amongst others. Maybe Eric is as well? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 What has Kliff done. He was mediocre as a HC in college and gets to jump up to the NFL as a HC. Rex showed lots of success for yrs as a DC. Quote
oldno82 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Rex was too brash in the past to be a head coach. It does require some careful wording when you talk publicly. Maybe he's changed a bit now though in that regard. He might land a HC job in the near future. Quote
