tsylvester Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I know, he won the last 2, he doesn't care about this award so much as he does about winning the Super Bowl, & MVP of that game. A few weeks ago the talking heads were saying it was, the voting, over, that Josh Allen had it wrapped up after his four games and did something no other quarterback had done in the NFL, passing wise, while Lamar was on a bye... Especially since his team was now going to win their division and possibly be the 1 seed. Welp, after a couple of weeks have now passed, Josh had an off game, Lamar did Lamar things and now, he has his team in position to win their division and have a home playoff game. Meanwhile the Cheifs, not the Bills will be the 1 seed. So now that their teams are even, okay, the Bills are 12-3, Ravens 11-5, Lamar holds the tie breaker having out played Josh when their teams met in week 4, Josh throwing for only 180 yards on 16 of 29 passing 0 tds and 0 picks. 21 yards rushing on 5 carries. While Lamar had 2 tds on 13 of 18 passing for 156 yards, as the Ravens won 35-10... but I digress Their numbers now? Allen 3,549 yards passing, 7.8 yards per attempt, 26 tds, 6 picks for 101.2 qb rating with 514 yards rushing and 11 rushing tds Lamar 3,955 yards passing, 8.9 yards per pass (leads the league) 39 tds to 4 picks (leads the league) for a league pending 121.6 qbr with 852 yards rushing( leads the league) and 4 rushing tds. So any way you look at the numbers Lamar clearly has Josh beat. But the talking heads are looking for any reason to keep Lamar from his three-peat, and I'm okay with that. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I disagree. Firstly Lamar should not have gotten it in 23. I also still think a couple backs have more importance. On the Allen front he has done more with less talent around him. He lost his 2 best receivers. That didn’t hear. Hell Lamar got a hof back to take pressure off him. He also still misses wide open guys on reads. If I were to put mahones and Andy on the ravens I think they are undefeated. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 More with less? Are you, not just you, but the talking heads who have said that, this year, nutz? Shakir is every bit as good as Flowers, just watch him, you will see. Kincaid is a very underrated tight end. Cook, he may be near the end of his career, but is still excellent. Cooper, Alexander, Samuel, all very good at getting open against zone, which Allen usually faces because he is a runner as well as a passer. So, because Lamar won it last year but maybe shouldn't have, means he should not win it this year? While dropped passes are a meh stat, for this purpose, both teams are near the bottom on the league in that category, with the Ravens having slightly more 24 to 19, than the Bills. I would say the receivers are pretty equal. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Diggs and Davis left. That was 70% of their production. What 70% of Lamar’s receivers left this yr? Quote
tsylvester Posted December 27, 2024 Author Posted December 27, 2024 Diggs left because he wasn't getting the ball enough, and, ready, because when he was open, Josh's pass would bother be too far off the mark for him to catch or, not be thrown the ball at all. It was because of this that he had blow ups on the sidelines, in practice, in the lockerroom. Thus, they got rid of him. Davis was at best a 45% completion, he dropped more passes than he caught and, he never could run a route a properly, 2 reasons they chose not to pay him. And why Jax is the only team that wanted to pay him. Look, I really like Josh, wouldn't mind him being the Ravens qb, he and Lamar are pretty interchangeable so to speak. But he is not clearly the mvp, and the big jump he made from year one to year two in reading defense and completion % is very admirable and it is the same jump Lamar has made the past two years. Lamar won MVP, let us be honest, because of his legs, then because of his legs and the Ravens record last year. This year, Lamar is doing something that has never been done before at this high of level BOTH running and more importantly, throwing. To finish the year with a rating 120 or above? You know how I feel about qbr and such ratings how bunk I think they are. However, if they, the talking heads are going to use them then fine, so too will I. It is rareified air what Lamar is doing, not even Josh Allen is up there with him, Peyton, Aaron and Lamar, the only 3, if Lamar finishes 120 or better and he should. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Qb play was down across the league last yr. But since we have a lazy media class who turned it into a qb award they have to give it to that position. In all honesty hill in Miami should have won the mvp. His production was off the charts. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Lamar does things I would have thought were impossible with his legs and now his arm. He makes plays no other QB can make. And no MVP ever has had a perfect season so when he , now rarely, misses an open receiver, it's just proof he's mortal. This year, even more than 2019, has me thinking 'how the hell did he do that?' on multiple plays per game. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I still see to many bad plays. He should be under center more to be more effective. Also when it matters against real defenses that have competent offenses backing them he shrinks as a play maker. I am now suspect about him in bad really cold weather too. Quote

I could not agree more, his numbers were unreal. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 So with the selection process so suspect who gives a crap who these idiots choose as mvp? Quote
tsylvester Posted December 27, 2024 Author Posted December 27, 2024 I agree papa, that ia why i said So any way you look at the numbers Lamar clearly has Josh beat. papasmurfbell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I have given up on that and every other league award given out. They are all suspect. The hof is also a joke. Horse trading for entry is bs. 1 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 F that. If Barkley gets 100 yds next week he is mvp. If the media screw him they have zero merit. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 17 games to break the rushing record? Is that really mvp land? After all, the Eagles had the same record, essentially, scored the same amount of pts as last year with a different back. So what did he change on the team other than playing poorer teams? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 They were falling apart last yr. Just getting wins. In a league that doesn’t like bell cows he can easily break the record. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 I know, I tried a weak argument point, but it doesn't work Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Now I’m wondering would the giants do something dirty to stop him from getting the record? He was one of them a yr ago but his departure has made the whole org look jv. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 I doubt the Giants do anything underhanded to stop him. The bigger question is, do you play him knowing that the playoffs, seeding included, is locked up, so do you risk him getting injured for the record? It's not as if he is 25 yards away, 3 or 5 carries. No, 15 or more carries away, that is a risk Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I like what some on espn have said. You have a half. A single play can get you 60. He is running at a 5.8 yds per clip. Quote
tsylvester Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 So Josh handed off once then sat out so, Lamar 316/474(66.67%) • 4,172 passing yards • 41 passing TDs • 4 INTs • 915 rushing yards • 4 rushing TDs Allen 307 of 483 (63.6 %) 3,731 passing 28 yds 6 ints 531 yards rushing 12 tds Any questions? Both teams won their respective divisions, 1 win separates, as of now before the end of the Joshless Bills vs Pats game, the two teams with Lamar out playing Josh head to head in a blow out win. Both players set league records, all time records. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted yesterday at 02:04 AM Posted yesterday at 02:04 AM The should be MVP showed out today. Quote
tsylvester Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago He did, how many yards did he throw for? 1 yard touchdown runs, big deal. Shut down in the 2nd half and almost blew an 11 pt lead in the 2nd half. If not for his defense punching a ball out, he loses. Yeah, Lamar had 2 turnovers, one hurt, the other not so much. But Josh did not out play Lamar, Lamar never gave up and made some great plays that kept this team in it, even with 3 turnovers by the team Quote
tsylvester Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Your defense gets you 3 turnovers, 1 of them taken to the redzone, the other to mid field. Yet you only score 27 pts amd win by 2 pts. All season long his defense has gotten turnovers, near the top of the league. Not so for Lamar who led the league in 90+ yard scoring drives, touchdown drives. This, by a large margin. Yes, Josh is the mvp, but Lamar should be. The opposite of last year. Quote
