tsylvester Posted January 12 Posted January 12 80 regular season wins in the last 6 years is the most by a team in NFL history to not win a playoff game. That is tough. Tomlin is a very good coach, he would be offered a contract as soon as he was fired. But that offense is the problem, the line, the quarterback, the receivers? No real discipline on defense. In this game, the announcers made it clear that the focus was on stopping Henry getting going, to let Lamar run instead. Bad philosophy Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 01:22 PM Posted Sunday at 01:22 PM He should be begging to get out of there. The issues there are at the gym level. There has not been a very good qb in place for about a decade. Ben was a shell for at least 3 yrs before he left. The gym doesn’t believe in ol. What do you expect to happen? But to keep these guys from nose diving is amazing work. Quote
tsylvester Posted Sunday at 02:20 PM Author Posted Sunday at 02:20 PM For weeks the leaders on defense for Pit have said that guys were playing hero ball, getting out of position, not maintaining gaps. The result, 5 straight loses, their vaunted run defense shredded. Not sure how you fix that, is that on Tomlin or the defensive coordinator? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 02:40 PM Posted Sunday at 02:40 PM I hadn’t heard that. Maybe bring in a new dc to freshen up the teaching. But the d could be saying it all for you. If we don’t win this we lose bc the offense isn’t pulling their weight. if they can get fields to ink a team friendly say 4 yr 100 mil deal with incentives that aren’t hard to reach taking it another 50 mil higher. Rebuild the ol. Rebuild the receiving corps. Draft a rb. Get some youth on that d. Do all this over a few yrs and you could have something. Quote
tsylvester Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM No way I give Fields, who can't read a defense post snap, that much money. Maybe a 3 year prove it deal with a load of incentives. The way Heyword and Fitzpatrick talk it is un steeler like play this year on defense. Neither named names, even Watt backed up their line of talking with some not sticking to their assignments. I have to wonder, were they talking about Elliot & Queen to name just two? Those two were known here to freelance, Queen, one knock on him pre-Smith, was that he often went to the wrong hole when filling a run hole. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 06:32 PM Posted Sunday at 06:32 PM A 25 per to get up to 37 per yr for qb? He has issues reading defenses probably bc the bears debacle. Now you teach him. That kind of deal would allow you to get talent around him. Quote
tsylvester Posted Sunday at 07:11 PM Author Posted Sunday at 07:11 PM I could see them going after the Cheetah if he really wants out of Miami Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 07:26 PM Posted Sunday at 07:26 PM I am seeing some Pitt fans calling for Tomlins head. Quote
tsylvester Posted Sunday at 10:37 PM Author Posted Sunday at 10:37 PM Yeah, a lot of their local radio hosts and reporters as well Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 11:58 PM Posted Sunday at 11:58 PM You think we can do a Tomlinson for turdy swap? Quote
tsylvester Posted Monday at 11:56 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:56 AM Hope not, at least Harbs can get a playoff win Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Monday at 12:52 PM Posted Monday at 12:52 PM Bc he has horses. Tomlin has a sub playoff team. Quote

Wait, wait, wait...aren't you the same guy that has proclaimed Lamar can't read defenses and that can't be taught, but now you want to proclaim Fields can? You're so full of shit... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Monday at 04:17 PM Posted Monday at 04:17 PM You can teach reading defenses. You can’t teach accuracy. I also proposed a really cheap contract. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted Monday at 06:03 PM Posted Monday at 06:03 PM Fields has done nothing to warrant a contract of any magnitude Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Monday at 08:24 PM Posted Monday at 08:24 PM I believe most of that was not his doing. The talent is there. It needs to be molded. A contract that pays him about a third of the going rate is a good move. High reward low risk. Quote
