Look at Bateman for 1 example, took him yes, only a few months to come back from, but he was not up to full speed for a full year +. Likely would be wise to sign the deal the Ravens offered, $13 mil average salary is a good deal for both sides. Add in the injury, he is covered financially even if it take a year or so to be able to drive off of and cut with that foot. Quote

Second-year wide receiver Devontez Walker is among the five Ravens who have shined the brightest at training camp thus far, according to Ryan Mink of baltimoreravens.com. "The Ravens have had a good start to camp, so I could list a bunch of players here. I'll limit myself to five," Mink wrote. "So far, my top five would be wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Devontez Walker, running back Keaton Mitchell, inside linebacker Roquan Smith, and cornerback Jaire Alexander." It isn't surprising to see highly-touted veterans like Hopkins, Smith and Alexander as players who are leading the charge for Baltimore this season, but it is promising to see younger players like Walker and Mitchell catching attention. Walker, a fourth-round pick by Baltimore in the 2024 NFL Draft, underwhelmed as a rookie. Last season, he recorded just one catch for 21 yards and a touchdown. However, many believe he is in store for a massive leap this season, especially after making a nice play over former first-round cornerback Nate Wiggins. "Walker shined in the past two padded practices, making several nifty snags, including a touchdown over Nate Wiggins," Mink continued. It won't be easy for Walker to breakout since the Ravens have one of the deepest wide receiver rooms they've ever had with returning playmakers in Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Tylan Wallace to go along with the addition of Hopkins. But if he continues to show out, it will be difficult to keep him off the field. The same could be said for Mitchell, too. The third-year back has struggled to stay healthy, but when he's been on the field, he's been a true difference maker. As a rookie in 2023, Mitchell averaged 8.4 yards per carry before tearing his ACL in a Week 15 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. "Back to full strength from his rookie knee injury, Mitchell looks supercharged and has still stood out even since the pads have come on," Mink wrote. Only time will tell if Mitchell can return as the same player he was before his injury and stay healthy, but if he can, the Ravens offense will be even more formidable in 2025. Quote
tsylvester Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Baltimore Ravens veteran linebacker Kyle Van Noy thinks they may have landed a gem in the 2025 NFL Draft. Van Noy believes Ravens second-round rookie linebacker Mike Green is going to be very successful at the next level. "He's going to be really good," Van Noy said. "You can see the quick twitch. You can see the skills. These kids that are coming into the NFL, the skills that they have at the pass-rush technique, their technique is already really, really high level. Now, it's just getting the execution with the elite tackles. The tackles in college are going to be way better than the NFL; they're really good at their craft. So, you can see he has a bright future." Green, the No. 59 overall pick in this year's draft, is clearly very talented after leading all FBS players with 17 sacks last season at Marshall. However, he does have some off-the-field concerns. If Green can avoid being a further distraction, he has the chance to make an immediate impact as a rookie. Some even think he could put together a NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year-caliber campaign in 2025. "Winning DROY has proven extremely elusive for players picked outside of Round 1. DeMeco Ryans and Shaquille Leonard — both linebackers selected early in Round 2 — are the only guys who have accomplished the feat in the last 20 years," Dan Parr of NFL.com wrote. "Green is somewhat of a unique case, though, as he was widely considered a top-20 talent but fell all the way to Baltimore late in Round 2 amid questions about two sexual assault allegations." I think Dez Walker deserves the depth slot that Tylan currently has unless Dez craps out in the pre-season. I'm hyped about the game with the Colts next week...it's just pre-season but it will be real football. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have any more multi-week injuries. Quote

tsylvester Posted August 4 Posted August 4 As the Ravens' holder, Jordan Stout has a front-row seat watching Tyler Loop every day. During Sunday's open practice at M&T Bank Stadium, 26,052 fans saw what Stout sees – a talented rookie kicker who seems to be gaining confidence each day. "You guys saw him today, right," Stout said. "He's pretty good, huh?" Loop was 11-for-11 on field goal attempts, including a 60-yarder that drew a loud ovation from the crowd. Afterward, Loop found himself surrounded by media in the Ravens' locker room, being asked about having a day in front of Ravens' fans. "Beautiful stadium, beautiful environment, I love the purple," Loop said. "The fans are great. It's such a passionate city for football." As the first kicker drafted in franchise history, and the Ravens' first new kicker since 2012, Loop knows he's being thrust into a pressure situation on a Super Bowl contender. However, he's simply focusing on getting better each day and not comparing himself to Justin Tucker or any other kicker. "Tuck is incredible, I would say he is the greatest of all time at this position and he got there by being process-oriented, picking his targets, hitting his targets," Loop said. "That's something [Special Teams Coach] Randy [Brown] and I talked a lot about. We're going to build your process, and we're going to stick to it." The Ravens waived undrafted kicker John Hoyland on Saturday, leaving Loop as the only kicker remaining in camp. Loop said Hoyland definitely made him a better kicker, and he anticipates seeing him have success in the NFL. But on Sunday, Loop took center stage and kicked lights out at the stadium. "He's going to be good. [His confidence] has got to skyrocket, right?" Stout said. "Overall, he's a pretty confident guy in the first place. tsylvester Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Andrew Vorhees hadn't heard Head Coach John Harbaugh's comments that he's leading the left guard competition, which was also reflected in the team’s first depth chart of 2025, until someone told him a day later. Vorhees approached Sunday's stadium practice the same way he had gone about all the others this summer. "It really doesn't mean a whole lot. There's the old saying, 'Rent is due every day,'" Vorhees said. "Just having that approach knowing that it could be lost at any given time motivates me and gives me fuel to the fire to push myself to be the best I player I can become." Quote

oldno82 Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 Yeah it was really satisfying to hear about Loop's perfect day. I'm sure it boosted his confidence. It did mine in him for sure. Can't wait to see him Thursday night. If Alexander stays healthy, the rest of the AFC better watch out. Our secondary is loaded. I don't know if Vorhees is the answer or not. I will be watching him closely against the Colts. The analysis I read of him and Cleveland is that they both run block well but have some trouble in pass protection. At least that was Preston's take on them last week. Quote
