papasmurfbell Posted yesterday at 02:48 PM Posted yesterday at 02:48 PM But phatties who can bend the pocket in and play the run are much more rare. The have lost 2. Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM Author Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM Robinson is back from injury, he showed great promise before it. Between he, Peoples, and Jones, we may have those phatties Quote
papasmurfbell Posted yesterday at 09:44 PM Posted yesterday at 09:44 PM Peoples is not a patty. None of those guys are as good as dalton or mads. I doubt any could start on any other playoff team. Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 09:57 PM Author Posted yesterday at 09:57 PM Today was a good test for the 2. Without them in the 1st game, Burrow had all day to throw. With them both in, they were a force in his face all game and a big reason why this team got a shutout Quote
papasmurfbell Posted yesterday at 10:19 PM Posted yesterday at 10:19 PM Brown is not consistent enough runner. Put them against a better running team that also can pass and I don’t see them be as effective. Quote
oldno82 Posted yesterday at 10:24 PM Posted yesterday at 10:24 PM We had a nice effort from the entire D today and that's what it takes to shut out a good offense. Of course, we don't know how much of a difference T-Higgins could have made, but we certainly avenged our loss at home against them 2 weeks ago. Somehow, Lamar still doesn't look right to me but I give him credit for the check-off he called at the line of scrimmage when he tossed that TD pass out in the flat. That was a very good play by him. He didn't pass much today probably because of the cold and how well we were running the ball. As I have said ad nauseam, let's evaluate him after the last game of the season. Quote

tsylvester Posted yesterday at 10:27 PM Author Posted yesterday at 10:27 PM Brown was spinning and cutting exceptionally well today, most backs would not have had the success he did today Frankly, any time you can keep Burrow from throwing all game is a good chance of winning. As I said in the game thread, I think the wind got into his head, a few early passes sailed in him and he rarely tried those passes again. I'm not saying this defensive line is fixed with A Jones and Robinson, but it is a very good start. Last year in limited snaps because of injury or just plain depth, they did great. Now that they are the big Dawgs, we see the result; collapsed pocket. If this team had a half decent edge rusher Burrow would not have had time to complete those 5 yard passes Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago The Cincy ol is trash. I might be able to crease them. These guys would not start on gb, den, hou, lac, sea, Jax, or the eagles. I’m happy they are playing hard but they lack big time talent. Quote
tsylvester Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Cinci line is crap, but do realize, lest I refresh your memory, what that Cinci offense has done to this defense over the past few years? True, Jones and Robinson would not be "starting" on many teams, but they would be in the rotation. These two are a start to a very good rotation IF Eric & company can find a couple more, especially an edge rusher. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I said they wouldn’t start elsewhere. They would be in the rotation. I think we need 2 starting caliber and if Jenkins retires another rotational. Def a starting edge and a good backup. Quote
tsylvester Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Yep, I am just leery that this latest performance, while very good, will be "evidence" for the front office to keep Orr. I will be shocked if the Ravens beat NE & or GB, sucks that both games got moved to night games. I realize NE hasn't beaten anyone with a winning record, at least not many teams. But they are clicking on all cylinders even with the melt down against the Bills, blowing the 21 pt lead.... 8 and 9 might win the division, pending what the Steelers do, but it should get people not named Todd Monken, fired even if it wins the div. oldno82 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago If the Ravens win out, which would shock the hell out of me too, they will have earned a playoff spot. If they win a couple of playoff games, the coaching staff will probably all be safe. But those are 2 huge "if's". I don't think that is a realistic scenario. Three regular season games left. We could quite possibly lose them all and that is more likely than winning them all. If they don't win the AFC North, it should be total rebuild time. Quote
tsylvester Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago I fully expect them to lose all 3, just the way they have played all season says that and much more about this team. Quote

If I was hung like John Holmes I would have had a line of girlfriends. Lose the next 2 and win week 18. 8-9. The question is what Tomlin has and probably tie breakers. Quote
