Yes, what is the problem this year on offense and defense? The lines. Fix them, which can be done in the draft, this draft is pretty deep in the trenches on both sides, not so for "skilled" positions, you fix this team.

Side note, how about the Job Curt Signete did at Indiana, two years, 11 wins last year, 13 so far, this year and the Big Ten Champs.

Even though the talking heads say players just need to execute the wrong coach can lead the best roster to ruin.  A great coach can get average guys to play great.

i count at least 6 starters needed in the trenches.  I don’t it could be upwards of 9.  I don’t see that being done in a single draft.  I think 4 is about the limit.

This team needs a real possession receiver who can get open against man, Bateman clearly isn't it. There are several in this draft, 3rd round or better.

They need at least another corner, Humph cant cover any more. Cut him loose or sit him in case of emergency. He has said on his pod cast that he would switch to safety..... do it if the dead money is too much.

I'll give Loop credit, he is a rookie, but next year if he keeps missing extra points and not reaching the landing zone they will have to look elsewhere.

Edge, Green, I know a rookie, but he is looking like he was not such a steal. Maybe by next year he will learn how to keep his balance to actually make a sack. How to tackle properly. 

This is clearly a two-3 year rebuild

I'm not discounting the need for a DT but I think our priorities need to be edge rusher and left offensive tackle.

Of course, you always have to keep options open if a really superb player at another position falls to you.

If only we could mock-draft some coaches.

I doubt he falls to the Ravens, he should be a top 15 pick unless he bombs at the combine. If his 40 is 4.5, sure he could fall. 

But, like you, give me the phatty, an edge or a left tackle in the 1st. 

I've already said who to take at wide out and either of them can be had in the 2nd or even the 3rd. Great hands, possession receivers. Lamar is not great at throwing the long ball so why get a speed demon when you have one on the team already that you don't use at all

A great dt that can rush from the middle and stop the run is gigantic.  It puts pressure in the lap of the qb.  It also helps outside rushers get home by eating an extra blocker.  Also if we dnt stiffen up the spine we will get run on more and more.

That's true but premium edge rushers are probably easier to find than those mult-talented DT's. And also LT's are so important to protecting your multi-million dollar quarterbacks.

All 3 are desirable on a team and I'd be happy to have any one of them as long as they can make an immediate impact.

Agreed.  Also smith is a much better linebacker when blockers are bein* eaten up in front of him.

Yes. That's one of the reasons Ray Lewis was so great when Goose and Co. were on the D-line.

Of course, Lewis also had a motor that just wouldn't quit. I still haven't seen his equal in how quick he could get to the sideline during a play.

Yes Ray was better with goose and Adams.   But when he lacked those mammoths up front he still performed just not as well.  Smith in some games has been mia out there.  A guy with his number is there but it isn’t him.  He requires these types of dudes to perform.  That makes it a need and not just a luxury.
