tsylvester Posted December 7 Author Posted December 7 Yes, what is the problem this year on offense and defense? The lines. Fix them, which can be done in the draft, this draft is pretty deep in the trenches on both sides, not so for "skilled" positions, you fix this team. Side note, how about the Job Curt Signete did at Indiana, two years, 11 wins last year, 13 so far, this year and the Big Ten Champs. Yes, a coach can make the difference Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Even though the talking heads say players just need to execute the wrong coach can lead the best roster to ruin. A great coach can get average guys to play great. i count at least 6 starters needed in the trenches. I don’t it could be upwards of 9. I don’t see that being done in a single draft. I think 4 is about the limit. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 7 Author Posted December 7 The Biscuit had better fire Harbs after this travesty, this was another winnable game; lost by ineptitude in all 3 phases of the team Quote
tsylvester Posted December 7 Author Posted December 7 This team needs a real possession receiver who can get open against man, Bateman clearly isn't it. There are several in this draft, 3rd round or better. They need at least another corner, Humph cant cover any more. Cut him loose or sit him in case of emergency. He has said on his pod cast that he would switch to safety..... do it if the dead money is too much. I'll give Loop credit, he is a rookie, but next year if he keeps missing extra points and not reaching the landing zone they will have to look elsewhere. Edge, Green, I know a rookie, but he is looking like he was not such a steal. Maybe by next year he will learn how to keep his balance to actually make a sack. How to tackle properly. This is clearly a two-3 year rebuild Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Which is why they should have done a tear down at the deadline. Quote

tsylvester Posted December 18 Author Posted December 18 He would be a very nice pick. Naturally 300 +, high motor and strong, very strong Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 19 Posted December 19 https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/2-round-2026-nfl-mock-203038403.html Quote Baltimore Ravens: Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State "The Ravens' season never really got on track due to early injuries, and they've never found a rhythm. They will need to improve at multiple spots in 2026, one of which is wide receiver. Ohio State's Carnell Tate and Zay Flowers would drive opposing defenses up the wall as both can take the top off the defense in the blink of an eye." - Adams Baltimore Ravens: Christen Miller, DT, Georgia - Crabbs That is a big no on the first pick. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 19 Posted December 19 I'm not discounting the need for a DT but I think our priorities need to be edge rusher and left offensive tackle. Of course, you always have to keep options open if a really superb player at another position falls to you. If only we could mock-draft some coaches. Quote

I doubt he falls to the Ravens, he should be a top 15 pick unless he bombs at the combine. If his 40 is 4.5, sure he could fall. But, like you, give me the phatty, an edge or a left tackle in the 1st. I've already said who to take at wide out and either of them can be had in the 2nd or even the 3rd. Great hands, possession receivers. Lamar is not great at throwing the long ball so why get a speed demon when you have one on the team already that you don't use at all Quote

A great dt that can rush from the middle and stop the run is gigantic. It puts pressure in the lap of the qb. It also helps outside rushers get home by eating an extra blocker. Also if we dnt stiffen up the spine we will get run on more and more. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 20 Posted December 20 That's true but premium edge rushers are probably easier to find than those mult-talented DT's. And also LT's are so important to protecting your multi-million dollar quarterbacks. All 3 are desirable on a team and I'd be happy to have any one of them as long as they can make an immediate impact. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 20 Posted December 20 Agreed. Also smith is a much better linebacker when blockers are bein* eaten up in front of him. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 20 Posted December 20 Yes. That's one of the reasons Ray Lewis was so great when Goose and Co. were on the D-line. Of course, Lewis also had a motor that just wouldn't quit. I still haven't seen his equal in how quick he could get to the sideline during a play. Quote

But when he lacked those mammoths up front he still performed just not as well. Smith in some games has been mia out there. A guy with his number is there but it isn’t him. He requires these types of dudes to perform. That makes it a need and not just a luxury. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 21 Author Posted December 21 Yeah, Smith clearly lost a step and maybe a half over the past 2 years, but he is still very good and his leadership is much needed Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 21 Posted December 21 I’m wondering if he ever had those steps. Also his leadership is as a front runner. Him taking off after a bad game this yr told me all I need to know. Let’s get through the deal and replace him. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 21 Author Posted December 21 That doesn't bother me as much, it is the way players today act, deal with the media. The same media that has turned into a click bait, hot take media, quite unlike it used to be. You see many players, high profile too boot, who won't talk to the media right after a bad game, some even after a good game. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 11:39 PM Posted Sunday at 11:39 PM If a teammate stepped to me about a play issue on my part but when he played like crap he ran away with his tail between his legs I’m telling him to shove it. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago https://www.yahoo.com/sports/articles/nfl-mock-draft-2026-full-204938968.html Quote 14. Baltimore Ravens: EDGE Keldric Faulk, Auburn As the Ravens are clinging to even the faintest playoff hopes going into Week 17, the one thing that's clear is that they need to start rebuilding in the trenches. While the offensive line is a consideration, the defense needs more work up front in the immediate. Keldric Faulk just fits the Baltimore DNA, as well. He's a beast on the edge who defends the run well, but has some pass rush juice to his game as a cerebral player with a ton of experience under his belt, even if he's not a freak athletically. Quote
tsylvester Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Big question mark with him. Excellent size when he came into college, hard worker, last year was supposed to be his coming out party, 7 sacks, a ton of pressures, and tackles, many for a loss. Then this now past season, nothing. His tackle numbers are good, but that is about it. He has room on his frame to beef up with muscle at 6'-6", can be a Mike McCreary type of player IF he keeps his work ethic.. But why such a big drop off in sacks? I would not take him at 14, not even in the 1st nor high second Quote
oldno82 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I'm hoping for better. Maybe we could finally come up with a guy who actually has shown he can pass rush and get sacks because we need more pressure coming from our front four. I'm talking about finding the next TJ Watt (in his prime). Quote
