tsylvester Posted September 3 Posted September 3 The Ravens have a new head coach in Jesse Minter, and a new offensive coordinator in Declan Doyle, and quarterback Lamar Jackson says opposing defenses don’t know what’s going to hit them when the season starts. Jackson told Adam Schein that he’s excited to unleash an offense that hasn’t been seen before. “I just can’t wait to showcase it,” Jackson said. “I don’t believe a defense is prepared for what’s in store for them.” Doyle was the Bears’ offensive coordinator last year, but in Chicago, head coach Ben Johnson implements the offensive system and calls the plays. Minter has a defensive background, and this is Doyle’s first opportunity to run an offense. Jackson said it’s an exciting scheme. “It’s a lot of moving parts, it’s guys flying around,” Jackson said. “Everything you need in an offense, play action, dropbacks, run game, everything you need in an offensive system.” Jackson didn’t play at all in the preseason, so we haven’t seen what the new offense looks like in his hands. Not an historic one Tsyl, I agree with you, but I can see some team offering him $70/80 million per year or more for 5 years guaranteed just so they can fill the seats in their stadium. A few bidders won't care about having a non-existent defense or O-line. I'm not sure that Lamar wouldn't just take the money and not worry about what the quality of the team was around him as long as he got the biggest payday ever offered. But we can save these questions for the off-season. Right now I'm just excited to see what Jesse and Declan have created. Quote

Some surprise players will turnout to be solid qbs, ones no one expected. by then maybe Nano turns out to be the real deal, sitting and learning the position for 2 seasons, who knows. Maybe the Ravens work out a trade for Lamar that he agrees with and the Ravens get 1st, 2nd and a 4th for him or something along those lines. Or maybe, Lamar gets his money that is workable for the Ravens. I don't think he is all about the prestige of top paid in league history. He already has generational wealth, several generations if he invests and spends properly. This isn't about him making the Hall of Fame, he has already pretty much made it to Canton. I truly believe he knows, to be considered to be the best ever he needs a ring or two. Afterall, the last time he was up for trade/free agency, when he was young and putting up sick numbers both on the ground & in the air, no team wanted him. So why would any team be willing to pay him gobs, when he will be much older and that much less of a threat with his legs? Quote

I'm really pumped to get this season started next week against Indy. I think the team is too. I do expect that it will take the offense a few games to really come together as offenses always lag defenses when new systems are put in place. So I'm prepared to cur them some slack. We've got a fairly easy schedule over the first 6 games so that should help. Quote

Sure, it may have been the right call, but if that game was between them and say Appalachian State, they don't make that call. If you missed it, Michigan was down with seconds left in the game.. They toss a hail Mary that sails out of the back of the endzone, into the arms of a Western Michigan player who is standing out of bounds. The clock hits 0 and Western Michigan celebrates. Problem, Michigan is Michigan and playing at home. After review, the clock should have stopped with 1 second left on the clock because the ball touched a player out of bounds. Had the player let it fall to the ground, 1 more second would have run off: according to the review officials. So Michigan gets one more shot at a Hail Mary and they catch the touchdown for the win. For shame Quote
