Saints at Ravens

Yes, the Saints come marching in this Sunday. Who are they? Not a horrible team as the Lions found out, Detroit had to go to overtime to secure the win. However, it was only a failed 2 pt conversion that kept New Orleans from victory.

Journeyman Tyler Shough, threw for 410 yards and 3 touchdowns, but he also tossed 2 to the Lions defenders.

Travis Etiene runs the ball for them, but against Detroit, as a team, they only managed 91 yards on the ground.

Their defense is even more of a mystery, allowing Detroit to get a mere 369 yards total, but 165 of that came via the ground game of the Lions.

Yes, this is not the team of Drew Brees and Sean Payton, but as the saying goes: on any given Sunday, anything can happen.

As long as our offense doesn't have a big head after the easy performance against the Colts, the Ravens should carry the day. The team will be buoyed for this game too because it's the home opener. Derrick Henry is just unbelieveable...a 32 year old power running back with speed. Will we ever see the likes of him again? I'm also looking for Sarratt and Tez to have some success. Bateman should have a good day. If he doesn't, I will begin to wonder why we have him on the team.

Hopefully, our D will start off better than last week. I think it should be an easy win.

I don't see over confidence in this group. After the game, the coaches and players were all saying the same, right things.

That there is work left to do, things to fix. It is not something we hear here in quite some time: quite refreshing and pleasant to hear from them.

I think right now they are focussed, hungry and determined. I think they continue in their play and win this one.

I don’t see no having the horses to run an organized rush.  Indy was all over the place creating lanes for Lamar.

They tried using a spy and forcing Lamar up the middle, a controlled rush. That lead to the sack fumble, as the spy rushed up the middle once the center was engaged with one of the guards.

Then the line coach, I assume, made the adjustment, unlike last year, and the onslaught of the offense took off.

I was watching one end go way into the backfield while the tackles were grouped to a side.  It was a 7 yd hole at least.  They were poor at keeping Lamar in the pocket.

Yes, they were trying, key word, to force Lamar to step up in the pocket into the waiting arms of the spy. But the line did a great job adjusting to their tactic, Stanley riding the end wide, the guard and center stoning their men at the line.

Last yr teams tried too.  Only specific teams could pull it off.  It’s one thing to know how to do something its another to have the horses to pull it off.

Yep, but I thought the adjustments the line made throughout the game was outstanding. That didnt happen last year.

Media yelling how much better Lamar looked in the new offense. Idiots, he looked better because he is healthy, and the line played much, much better than last year

I don’t expect it to.   I don’t like the center at all.  I have zero trust in Stanley.  Rose was ok at best.

The situation at Center is interesting. The current guy is a very good run blocker but not so good as a pass blocker. Pocic is just the opposite. For right now, I'd stay with what we have as long as we're opening those holes for Henry and Lamar keeps using his pocket awareness like he did on Sunday.

These next 2 games with NO and the Cowboys will tell us a lot about the real capabilities of this team. Right now things look good but I'm not quite ready to jump on the bandwagon.

Meanwhile the injury bug has bitten us. Several starters did not practice again today.

Both the Saints and Cowboys have bad defenes, the Ravens should put up serious pts against them. But they can also take you by surprise and score pts.

Today, the rain will be an equalizer, should be interesting with the injuries included.
