tsylvester Posted Sunday at 09:42 PM Author Posted Sunday at 09:42 PM I suppose ya cant say replace a guy without saying with whom... My first stop would be: John McKay (Assistant GM, Los Angeles Rams) – A double-legacy executive rising quickly through pro scouting and roster management under Les Snead Given the derth of talent both drafted and brought in over the years, would not mind seeing him work here Quote

That takes away not just the run but also the short passing attack. With Huntley unable to throw deep accurately, Doyle's hands were pretty much tied. There were receivers open, Huntley just never looked their way. What, you think Lane all of a sudden couldnt get open? I do fault him for leaving Andrews in. Granted Hibs was inactive, but Ceuves should have been the number 1 in this game. Yep...I agree. It really hurts that Huntley has the weak arm. I guess that's why he's only a backup. It does look like Andrews has lost it. Maybe he blocks better than Cuevas. I wasn't watching for that. Quote

Bad signings, poor drafts, maybe he was just a product of great scouting and Ozzie in his hey day. I find it so interesting when pp, eventually come to where I am. maybe les Snead from the rams. Make him vp and gm. Quote

So after the 1st two series they dropped a safety into the box, had the linebackers run blitz. Too many bodies to block yes, but there were also many missed blocks mostly by the interior line and tight ends used as full backs. This also took away the short passing game, clogging the middle. Teams cant do that with Lamar behind center, nor with Nano back there. I thought for sure The Minter would have changed qbs in the 4th after yet another 3 & out. Quote

I think Huntley is/was too popular with the team and friends with Lamar so Minter feels uncomfortable benching him and giving Nano a shot. I think he's afraid of losing the team and Lamar's loyalty to try something like that even though it's needed now. Nano deserves at least a chance if Lamar still isn't healed by the next game. The Bengals will eat us for lunch unless some serious changes are made. Quote
tsylvester Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Funny, Harbs benched one of the most popular players in NY football because he fumbled too many times, though Harbs denies benching hom even though the guy sat on the bench all game. He never did that here, Ali fumbled a lot and yet kept playing. I guess my point is, time to cut bait, let the players know who runs the team, the coach not the players. If Lamar still can't play this coming week, something would have to be seriously wrong with his ankle. And yes, if Lamar cant go, Nana should get the shot, cant go into a game that is usually a shoot out with only having a derringer.... Quote

If you have the front that can keep Lamar contained in the pocket Lamar is not that hard to defend. Clog the middle dare him to throw deep outside. ill take a salutation. Quote

The key, tight man coverage on the outside, deep drops by the linebackers. This will take away the quick short throw, the plants and any deep crossing route. The problem, as every defense faces, is keeping this up. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It’s not collapsing the pocket. It’s doing it while not giving up holes for Lamar to takeoff through. Yes tight man coverage on the shallow outside but almost shell in the middle. Destroy the seems and crossers. If zay crosses smash him with a backer old school. Make Lamar only have along the sidelines 20 yds or deeper. Quote

I'd like to see what Nano can do if Lamar can't go. Quote

Like yesterday, push up into Watson's face, but keep the right side, if the offense, level with him allowing him only to escape to his left. He can't run fast any more and can't throw well moving to his left. Other qbs are different, you rush each of them differently. Sometimes you push one side past forcing him to step up into a stunting lineman from the other side. You can dictate the pocket for him and sacks... Burrow has to be rushed differently, you have to get into his face and close in from both sides. The problem with him is his quick release and his two recievers who kill us every year. They often dont give ya much time to rush like that because if how quick rhey are hoe good they are against press coverage. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago From the pocket Lamar can’t make that 20 yds throw accurately. If you have the middle clogged then the backers are there for Henry. What I said was done to us on several bad games last yr. The ol allows for getting to him before he up to speed. Quote

To run so you can give huge running lanes bc he won’t use them. Quote
