thesteelhurtin Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Age will catch up ro players before the cap and they will be cut. Plus the cap is about to sky rocket Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Well oz said he wouldn't give up a first for a restricted free agent and he diesnt want to pay the money it would take either. Quote
cravnravn Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 No the Cap isnt about to sky rocket, this is not MLB, 125,000,000 is what I think Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Yeah not this year but i think next year the tv contract money comes into play it may be the the year after but its coming. Quote

The agreements, set to go into effect at the end of the 2013 season, effectively renew the NFL's current agreements with CBS, Fox and NBC, extending the league's TV contracts for a "record-setting" nine extra years. thesteelhurtin Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Cool i knew it was coming so im not worried about them restructuring Quote
ForceEight Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 The new TV contracts aren't going to affect the salary cap all that much. And considering the loss in value of the dollar headed our way, they'll mean even less. The Steelers are mortgaging the future. Face it. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 The steelers have been up against the cap since they installed the salary cap. We pay our players thats why we are not biflg in FA. Unless you count us signing ours. Think about it woodley timmons and taylor all would have been big time free agents last year. They arent afraid to cut the fat when needed and you will see that once the cap is set. Also everything i have read the cap is going to go up significantly and the value of a dollar in the world market isnt going to change anything. Quote

With about 60% increases in revenue that makes for a much larger cap. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thats what i was thinking thats probably what teams that have to restructure their deals are selling to their players. Kinda like hang in their do this for the team and get paid later. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Im hoping thats what they are doing in the negotiations with wallace "hey we are going to pay you but we need yiu to take less in the first two years then the money will come pouring in." Im one that thinks the steelers will be fine without him while getting an extra first but i would really like him back. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 The problem there is Rooney wants to change the offense. Why do they need Wallace if they go that way. They can trade him and use the picks to fix the OL. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 The only good part about wallace when it comes to the run is that when he is on the field it really is hard to put 8 in the box becuase of the deep threat. That said he cant block well at all amd that to me is why mendy struggled because he likes to start inside and bounce out. When ward was there the outside was wide open now mendy bounces and there is a corner waiting on him. Like i said i go back and forth on the subject. Also he only averaged 30 some yards a game the last 8 games of the year. It seems teams gave figured out he is either going deep getting a screen or running a drag. Quote
